Présentation de l'éditeur

Commander Jonathan Radec has finally obtained everything he ever wanted in life. However, in a cruel twist of fate, just as he reaches out for his most heartfelt desire, it is torn from his grasp forever.

“For only he who has experienced ultimate happiness, can completely understand the deepest depths of absolute despair.”

Jon has always trusted those closest to him implicitly. It has long been his greatest strength, but one that his enemies have come to realise is also his ultimate weakness. For it is always those closest to you whose betrayal cuts the deepest.

In a horrific, pre-emptive strike at the very heart of the Imperium, the Senate is completely wiped out. In the aftermath of the attack, surrounded by the cries of the dead and dying, destiny once again reaches out its long arm, forcing Jon down a path he has long resisted. For, ever since the day he first set eyes upon Sofia, Jon has been destined to stand above all others.

As the last Emperor of the Imperium.

Jon has already fought through the very depths of hell itself and out the other side to save the ones he loves. Now, to save his family, he will gladly lay siege to the heavens themselves, for they tremble at his approach. As Jon not only commands the living, but also the dead, and they all want revenge against those who have taken everything from them.

Even if the rest of the Imperium must burn first.

The terrifying finale of the Redemption Trilogy. A Science Fiction adventure/romance, which tries to answer the question: “Can you ever find redemption for the mistakes of your past?”

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Terrible ending! 2 octobre 2014
Format:Format Kindle|Achat vérifié
4 stars for the fast-paced action, 3 stars for the plot and only 1 for the terrible ending.
In addition, the story is full of too many deus ex machina (for example, no cartriges left in a magazine at exactly the right time), too many repetitions and some blatant misconceptions (such as soldiers using clips for their weapons or the description of a shockwave effect in space...) At last, I new the author was fan of ghosts, but too much is really too much ! (I won't say more to avoid spoiling the awful book ending)

I absolutely loved this series, and this was the perfect finish to the trilogy. The first book was spectacular, the second book was really good and this was as good or maybe even better than the first installment. And best of all, the author could easily get away with charging more, but for only $2.99, I can definitely say this and all of his books are well worth the purchase price (while many over-charge for poorly planned novellas with countless grammar and spelling errors!).

Was this formulaic or predictable? Sure, like any good book it had a beginning, a middle and an end. :) As a bonus it was a hell of a ride with a heck of a climax and even a good wrap up at the very end. This series, and especially this book had elements that remind me of many things but was oh so very different too. Start with a bit of Star Wars (by the author's own admission, for those that even read the author's notes at the end!) - space opera, bigger than life hero and Imperial Empire. Add a touch a Star Trek - technical in the right way at the right time without killing it, but also quirky and smart characters. Also the underdog that turns out to be the biggest bad-ass around (think Braveheart). Finally, and most importantly, a couple that is perfect for each other, but has the hardest time getting together and staying together. Nothing in life is very truly original, rather its how to stitch everything together. And, sorry to break the news to any nay-sayers out there, this is sci-fi so don't expect it to be all perfectly plausible in our current lifetime.

This author did a superb job from start to finish. Well worth every moment I spent reading it, including the late nights where I just couldn't stop reading! It is not common to find a author or series that genuinely entertains. One final note, I also didn't see any significant editorial issues in any of his works. I positively look forward to anything and everything this author puts out in the future.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Best of the three 31 mars 2014

I feel that this book is the strongest of the three. The authors style has really matured. The first book seemed simple and full of errors. The second almost seemed like a raunchy space novel that never got my interest. This final story corrected the issues with the first two and turned it into an enjoyable and satisfying novel.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 another awesome story 26 février 2014

I have well over 300 books of just science fiction. So I have a good idea what a good science fiction story is. I've read a lot of good ones, some ok ones and some really awesome ones. And this series by Mike Smith is by far one of my top five series to keep an eye out for. I am so glad that the story well continue, I was very worried that this was his last book. Trust me when I say you won't be disappointed buying this and his other two books.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Is there something missing ? 11 septembre 2014

having read the first two books, I embarked on Pax Imperia expecting to find a conclusion written to the format of the previous two. I was pleasantly surprised, by the quality of the English used to write the book which was higher and more elaborate than it's predecessors and by the depth of feeling expressed which was truly perfect. I was less happy about the "Deus Ex Machina " ending in which we offer an explanation for a series of events through the eyes of ghosts and at which, prior to the epilogue, we have no idea of the future path of the confederation, Insight is given in the epilogue but that still does not answer these questions. The story progresses well until the last 30 pages of the book in which everything comes to a total and abrupt end. I have to say that this was not a satisying way to end such a strongly developed story. I think that a Quadrigy is called for

Fun read. much less indulgence in actual sexual detail and more of human appeal and hard science this time around
