Influence : Are you tired of not getting your message across?
Are you not being heard by the people in your life? Does your boss ignore you and your spouse disregard what you think? Then this practical Leadership book is THE guide for you. It will enable you to change how you interact with others and teach you to positively influence and lead everyone around you in a non-manipulative way.
Influence : Silent Influencing includes proven techniques and an easy-to-implement approach that leads to results. If you implement these techniques, you will succeed at being more influential throughout all aspects of your life.
In the many workshops, consulting Leadership engagements and projects lead by author Michael Nir, he observed over and over that lack of talent, professionalism or abilities are rarely the barrier to success. Rather, success is hampered because of these elements:

* Influence :Teams aren't functioning due to lack of leadership
* Influence : Managers are dictating instead of cultivating
* Influence : Partners are talking rather than listening
* Influence : Conflict is mismanaged and negotiations are unnecessarily prolonged
* Influence : Although face-to-face interactions are increasingly vital in our virtual world, we don’t know how to optimize them
* Influence : Lines of command tend to be blurred and accountability isn't properly defined

Influence : Silent Influencing will teach you these important skills that address the issues above:

* The ability to streamline to achieve win/win decisions
* How to mollify power plays and overcome resistance
* Accentuation of the proper courses of action in any situation
* Tips to maintain awareness in tricky high-stakes meetings

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Praise for Influence : Silent Influencing

"Influence : Silent Influencing enables its readers to both SUCCESSFULLY and HUMANELY influence others. As opposed to a great many books dealing in influence, Michael Nir's book explains how to effectively gain influence in a not only logical and reasonable manner, but also pleasantly. In that sense it is quite exceptional.”
Morris Kaner, CEO, MK&A - Morris Kaner & Associates

"Michael wrote a very practical guide on how to gain influence and into a leadership role silently using only your body and your observation skills. I enjoyed particularly the section on the handshakes and the how-to tips in gaining influence. Another useful piece of information are the exercises. I only had to find a large mirror to do them :) I can recommend this book to everyone who wants to increase his or her influence silently in all live contexts.”
Ralf Friedrich, President, Coaching Center Dieburg, GeProS

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Great practical advice. something you can use at once 9 avril 2013

Michael Nir offered me a free copy of his book in exchange for an honest review. The book looked intriguing, so I took him up on his offer.

The book is fairly short, very easy to read, and emphasizes practicality. It's all about body language: what different postures mean and most importantly, what that means to you in terms of doing business. Now, nothing here is new; all of this has been written about over and over again, in psychology books, advice books, and many other business books.

So what's new with Mr. Nir's book?

Practicality.

Mr. Nir demonstrates the use of each new bit of knowledge immediately after describing it. Certain postures mean certain things, that's fine, but Mr. Nir tells you what to *do*. He makes theoretical knowledge into actionable information. And he keeps it simple. No long-winded dissertations, just "here's how it works, here's what you do."

Over the course of a long business career (nearly 40 years), I've learned probably all of these things; you have to learn them to have half a chance of success. Everything Mr. Nir says rings true to me and matches my experience. But it took me a long time. If I had had this book 30 years ago, it would have accelerated things immensely and made a huge difference.

There is only one thing missing (which is why four stars instead of five) and that's something that pulls it all together. Mr. Nir makes an attempt at this toward the end of the book, but it's not enough. I wish he would have taken a situation--- a negotiation, say--- and shown it as a "worked example" from start to finish.

Bottom line: this is a very helpful and practical little manual that will be of benefit to just about anyone in business today.

If you are a person who enjoys a bit of innocent people watching, you might enjoy this book. A good explanation of our everyday body expressions and what they mean. How to recognize the silent influences, how to utilize, and maximize them in our personal and business life. A good informative read.

This is really one of the one that I read and reviewed in last few days. I found this book full of easy to use and follow body language tricks which can really enhance our social influence and we can be a good communicator. The communication is two types verbal and non-verbal. The author has beautifully explained how to use and make it our habit in synthesizing both the language. The book is available free but it is worth hundreds of million dollars. The author has explained the postures of hand which is a major component of non-verbal communication in our day to day life. The author has suggested good number of such tricks and instructed easy to follow guidelines so that the thoughts become action and action become habit of our life.
I would recommend this book to all the managers, technical persons and all who wish to make a social imprint. This book can be really more useful if we practice the suggestions given in the book.
I would like to enlist few suggestions which I felt everybody should follow.
1. Stand to greet and meet people.
2. Smile while you meet someone.
3. Use effectively your non-verbal communication skill to gain an edge in professional life.
4. Be careful that what you say and what your body communicate, might make a huge difference.
5. Learn good things but more important thing is to practice it in real life.
Hope to see more of my friends reading this wonderful book. I will scan through more books to bring out the gems for you to possess and cherish in your life.

Very old school looking graphics, i.e., clipart. Read like a textbook, yawn. The book read like someone just threw a bunch of info together just so they could get a book out and say they had it up on Amazon. I really hate to slam any author's book because even a bad book takes a lot of time and effort but this is really just a waste of time and money.

Was the book description accurate? Yes, the book description was accurate and readers will know what to expect from this handy non-fiction book.

How did you feel about the opening / ending sequences of the book? The opening sequence offers better background as to why you would actually need this book for business or personal relations. I think the most important thing to note is that the book touches on how your non-verbal actions actually influence decisions and reactions from people.

Was this book worth reading? A lot of research has gone into this and this was an educational book that I will keep close to me for a long time. If you are looking at improving interpersonal skills, then this is definitely the book for you.

Disclosure - I received a complimentary copy from the author which did not affect my honest opinion.
