Présentation de l'éditeur

A Laugh-Out-Loud Cupcakes and Crime Caper

"I tell myself every day that I don't hate my job... But there's a reason I'm trying to leave the madness of the casino pit to become a Private Investigator."

Cupcake-loving croupier Tiffany Black is determined to leave her job at the casino for good. She's one small step away from acquiring her Private Investigator license, and has her eye on the prize.

Accepting her first real case - investigating the murder of casino-mogul Ethan Becker - should be exciting. Instead, things spiral out of control and Tiffany finds herself in over her head, as she confronts secretive suspects, corrupt casino henchmen and a bodyguard with a mysterious past.

Tiffany's poker-hustling Nanna and pushy parents want her to find a nice man and settle down, but Tiffany just wants to track down the real murderer before he finds her first...

One gets the feeling of déjà vu. Female PI and a mad grandmother (where have we read that before) Very girly, but not a bodice ripper! Punctuation needs a serious seeing to. Culture Gap Programme, Writer's Quarter.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Lovers of Stephanie Plum - Meet Tiffany Black... 10 septembre 2013

(Review re-posted from Amazon.co.uk - because I know reviews from there don't show up on the US site!)

Fans of Stephanie Plum, meet Tiffany Black, A.R. Winters's new heroine in Innocent in Las Vegas.

I remember reading Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels when I was in my early teens. I raved about them. But then I grew up.

Somehow, Innocent in Las Vegas takes me back to that time, when an innocent enjoyment of books and laugh out loud capers were paramount. I have to say although I can draw parallels between the two characters, I relate more to Tiffany Black, and love her interactions with her clients, suspects, and friends and family. Especially her family. The book is very wholesome, and while it does feature some violence (often with a comedic slant), it is free of bad language and graphic sex - I know this will make some of you doubt its 'realism', but I can tell you it most certainly doesn't.

I can't remember laughing out loud quite so much while reading for a very long time. Winters has a real talent for writing, and gives the characters unique voices that will have you giggling into your book.

A great plot with realistic characterisation and entertainment value, this is definitely not a book to be missed by lovers of mysteries, chick lit, spunky heroines and all things cupcake.

I read a LOT of mystery stories and most fall short in some way or the other. The serious ones are too serious, and the funny "lighthearted" ones are just too fluffy. I thought this book had the perfect balance of being lighthearted, but still a serious page-turning mystery. You really want to get to the bottom of whodunnit, but you're also laughing aloud at the crazy things that happen.

I can tell that many readers will think it's similar to the Stephanie Plum series. I guess it is, it's really funny. But I also thought it was similar to Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone character - Tiffany is cool and tough and wants to be a PI. She's also intelligent, a trait I see lacking in the "detectives" of many of these "funny" mystery stories.

This book isn't literature. It's not going to win the Pulitzer Prize. But I didn't read this book to increase my literary skills. It's a good book to cheer yourself up when you feel sick or down, and it's just a nice, happy read.

One of my favorite book bloggers recently reviewed this book on her blog, so I decided to get it - and it's a choice I have not regretted.

Innocent in Las Vegas is a quick, snappy read. The action starts from the first page and doesn't let up. There's humor, there's a bit of suspense, and before you know it you're hooked and unable to put it down. Definitely a very good read.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A great mystery! Comfort Reading At Its Best 9 septembre 2013

This is the first book by A.R. Winters that I got. I wouldn't call it a cozy - it's not set in a small town. BUT there's hardly any bad language, and no sex or gore. At times there is action, danger and excitement, but not constantly. What I find comforting, I think, in addition to the mystery element, is the humour. This book has some truly hilarious moments that will make you laugh hard. And the protagonist has a tongue-in-cheek style of talking that will make make you giggle and smile in understanding. There is the glamorous world of the Las Vegas casino a little bit, I enjoyed that. There is no real romance as such, but by the end of the book there is the "potential" for some romance and I expect/hope to see that explored.

I found the "who" part of the "whodunnit" quite surprising. I think it wasn't what I expected, so that also pleasantly surprised me.

I would recommend this book to mystery lovers, and those who like a good, heart-warming, funny read.

Chose this book after reading what others had written and glad I did. Good story, kept you guessing until the end. Looking forward reading the second book when it is released.
