“IRON MAIDEN: THE ULTIMATE UNAUTHORIZED HISTORY OF THE BEAST I believe is that book, the best, most comprehensive look at the band so far. Every Maiden fan should have this in their library.” - Metal-Rules.com

"If you are a fan of Iron Maiden, then The Ultimate Unauthorized History Of The Beast is a must own book for your collection. If you are a casual fan wanting to learn more about Iron Maiden and their amazing history, then consider this your Bible." - hardrockhideout.com

“This is quite possibly the most definitive tome on these British godfathers to date, which means you shouldn’t let the “unauthorized” tag throw you.” - slugmag.com

“This is definitely a must-own for any Maiden fan or any fan of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene. For metal-merch fanatics like me, it's like porn. I would do bad things for the Maiden baseball tee on page 81.” - Houston Press

“The book successfully brings together the graphic reproductions in a high-quality format with a hard-cover binding, heavy paper, and a die-cut cover that draws attention and closer scrutiny.” - Vintage Guitar

“In all, Daniels has crafted a very high-level and easy read with Iron Maiden - The Ultimate Unauthorized History of the Beast, and top it all off, it's packaged expertly, prime for your coffee table, where Eddie's piercing eyes await.” - Blistering.com

“…when it comes to a combination of biographical information, great photos and useful information, ‘Iron Maiden: The Ultimate Unauthorized History of the Beast’ can’t be topped.” - Loudwire.com

Some feedback from one of the contributors 13 juillet 2012
Par Mr. Ryan M. Lamar - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Relié
I am one of the contributors to this book--I did the tourography sections. What you see in the tourography sections are the results of nearly 10 years of historical research through thousands of magazines, books, newspapers, websites, and fan interviews. I do believe what you see printed is about 95.1% accurate (results based on statistical analysis of evidence found and the type of research logic and methodology used), and I guarantee you, it is a whole lot more accurate than you will find anywhere else in the world, including from the band themselves. I know it's intuitive to think, "who knows the bands tourography better than the band?", but the fact is the band has been busy the past 25 years doing what they do best--making music and putting on excellent live performances. That alone is enough to keep their attention focused, and it shows. For anyone who has bought the Eddie's Head re-release, the multimedia tracks on the CDs have a lot of bad info on tour dates and locations. It's people like me and my network of worldwide dedicated individuals who get into the nitty-gritty to find the facts and clear up those discrepancies.

With all that said, I am sure there are some mistakes--NPFTD and Killers tours research were a huge mess and very challenging. And, I am sure there are some areas not quite complete--did this band, with such a big reputation for live shows, only do a handful of gigs in 1977 and 1978? I doubt it, and I still have a lot more research to do to fill in those gaps. If you have any questions, comments, or if you want to help contribute to my research, please email me at maidenshows@ryasrealm.com. In the meantime, enjoy the visual esthetics of this book!

Great History/Lots of Stuff for the Price! 20 juin 2012
Par Steve 1967 - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Relié
One of the cool things about this book is that its very complete. A few mistakes aside (per the earlier review) this book gives a great overall view of ALL facets of Maiden, from the very beginning to the present day. It also gives the a good look at the years without Bruce Dickinson. While musically those years are not my cup of tea, I learned a lot about the band and Blaze which is one of the reasons why I wanted to get this book. Also cool is the amount of merch. pictured - a nice reminder of a lot of the stuff I used to have! I also liked the individual sections devoted to each album - here again I learned something new. Finally, the photos - many of which I've never seen before were really cool.

All in all, this book is definitely worthwhile - especially, and this is probably the bottom line - you get a LOT of your money. Its a good addition to a Maiden fan's library.

Very Cool Maiden book 13 octobre 2012

I really enjoyed this book and all the pictures and stories are great that even if you aren't the biggest Maiden fan you will still enjoy this book.
Good but not great. 3 janvier 2015

The book's overall presentation is visually stunning. There are tons of great information, pictures, highlights and such. The format is superb. History, album, tour, history, album, tour, etc...

The bothersome aspect of the book is that the information is mostly cut and paste articles from other sources, which are fine in and of themselves, but Neil Daniels adds really nothing extra to them by way of personal commentary and/or personal experiential research it seems.

To be sure he does compliment the band when due and raises questions that lead into the next chapter or area but nothing of real weight.

The other bothersome thing is there are glaring mistakes in the book that, as a fan of the band almost to the exclusion of other bands, I said "almost", are untenable. If research is going to be done, an homage paid, a tribute offered, to the greatest, IMHO, band in the world, past, present, future, please make sure that your research documentation is fully accurate before you publish.

Overall though, I am glad I purchased this book. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to get to know the band better.

Visually interesting but sloppy... 19 juin 2012
Par Patrick J. Boulay Jr. - Publié sur Amazon.com

I expected more. I think for the price, you get an entertaining visual look at the band's history. But the writing? Leaves a lot to be desired. Some real bothersome inaccuracies too. Two are egregious in my, um, book: author states that 92's FEAR OF THE DARK came out in '93. Uh, no. How do you not know this? Also, he states that "2 Minutes to Midnight" is on FOTD or NPFTD, can't remember which. It's on neither. It's on POWERSLAVE. Again, almost any casual Maiden fan knows this. So, yeah, inaccuracies like these on a biography/encyclopedia kind of book just doesn't help the author's case. But that said, there are some nice pics and some decent reviews of the albums. For $20 I think it's worth it. But barely. It's a fun read once but not something I'll go back to very often.
