Présentation de l'éditeur

Whether you are trying to conceive naturally or through IVF, the quality of your eggs will have a powerful impact on how long it takes you to get pregnant and whether you face an increased risk of miscarriage. Poor egg quality is emerging as the single most important cause of age-related infertility, recurrent miscarriage, and failed IVF cycles. It is also a major contributor to infertility in PCOS.

Based on a comprehensive investigation of a vast array of scientific research, It Starts with the Egg reveals a groundbreaking new approach for improving egg quality and fertility.

With a concrete strategy that includes minimizing exposure to toxins such as BPA and phthalates, choosing the right vitamins and supplements to safeguard developing eggs, and harnessing nutritional advice shown to boost IVF success rates, this book offers practical solutions that will help you get pregnant faster and deliver a healthy baby.

“This timely synthesis of scientific literature is essential reading for both women and men wanting practical, evidence-based recommendations to enhance their fertility.”
- Dr. Loretta McKinnon, Epidemiologist, Princess Alexandra Hospital.

“A thoroughly-researched and eye-opening account of how small, simple lifestyle changes can have powerful, positive effects on your health and fertility. A must-read for women wanting the best chance of conceiving a healthy baby.”
- Beth Greer, bestselling author of Super Natural Home

Rebecca Fett has written an extremely well researched and helpful book for women who have fertility issues. If you are having trouble getting pregnant or have had miscarriages this book has some excellent insight into these problems. I'd even go so far as to recommend this book to any woman who wants to get pregnant because Rebecca Fett reveals information that could help you have a healthy baby.

This book is based on scientific research and if you like biology this will especially interest you. There is a discussion about chromosomal abnormalities and how they cause miscarriage. Then there is information on chromosomal screening and how it increases your chances of pregnancy.

According to this book egg quality declines after 30. Sperm quality also declines in older men. So while this book deals mostly with female issues there is a chapter for men.

Basically "It Starts with the Egg" is a book about how to ovulate a good egg. There is information on many different supplements you can take to get you as healthy as possible. Diet is also discussed and you may be surprised that even your dental health can affect fertility.

While this book discusses taking folic acid and most people know this what most of us are probably not thinking about is the danger of phthalates and BPA in plastics. There is some good advice about switching over to glass containers. I was relieved to learn that drinking bottled water is probably not much of a risk in regards to BPA.

If I was to recommend one book to women who want to get pregnant and have a healthy baby this would be it. If you are dreaming of having a baby then this book is essential.

~The Rebecca Review

I received this book free for review. This review is my honest opinion.

This book is literally the most informative book out there at the moment on the science of getting the best quality eggs needed for a successful and healthy pregnancy. This book is accessible, well-written and brilliantly researched. It combines the most up-to-date scientific studies from some of the world's leading fertility experts, with practical advice on items in your home that could be contributing to a decline in your egg quality. Each chapter tackles a different issue in a thoughtful, yet pragmatic way and the handy "Action Steps" at the end of each chapter, provide a distilled guide to real-world actions you can take that very day to assist in your reproductive journey. I have to say the chapter on living a "BPA-free" life was eye-opening.

If you are having difficulty getting pregnant, your RE isn't taking you seriously (or giving you all the advice you think you need) or you are even just thinking about getting pregnant, this book is for you.

I'm about 6 weeks into changing my life (and overhauling it completely) in order to improve my chances for a successful round of IVF (after two failures, 1 miscarriage, and 6 iui). Like Ms. Fett I have Diminished Ovarian Reserve, and the odds for gals like us having successful IVF hover around 4%. Ms. Fett has proven there's a way to improve, if not overcome, the (massive) problem of poor egg quality. I love this book -- she is so direct in her information, no beating around the bush. Just real science and studies distilled in a very logical, sensible manner. I love science, but I think she explains everything quite clearly so that even those who find the subject dull will glean a lot of helpful information from it. Thank you, Ms. Fett. Your work is SO important. This book is priceless.

Eye-opening, comprehensive, and very informative. An essential book for anyone wanting a baby, but particularly useful if you've read the other more basic books but still have questions about what else you can do to improve egg quality.

Very helpful read if you're struggling with infertility and/or miscarriage. The info on egg quality at the beginning was helpful, but having done a lot of previous research, it was nothing new to me. Neither was the info on diet, but the sections about supplements was very informative and helpful. Overall well worth the short time it took to read.
