I am from Kansas City. I have taken groups on BBQ Tours throughout our States. I've been to Memphis in May and grew up every fall at the American Royal in KC weaving my way thru the greatest PitMasters outside of my Family ever. I own no less than a hundred BBQ oriented books dating back to the 1930's...Christians has certainly earned the right to join those of the best PitMasters I have ever known. With his unique RAD Flare no less!!

Christians alter ego DJ BBQ correctly states the term "BBQ" isn't a specific town or a taste, rather it's a Culture unified by food, drink, music, memories, and faces. With appropriate reverence to those that came before him as a foundation for his amazing recipes and sauces Christian has created his anthem....The BBQ Book.

DJ BBQ states in his superb BBQ Book, Barbq, Barbeque, or Asado is a place where people come together for music, food, smoke, drinks, and a heavy dose of friendly smack talk of who's is best. BBQ is as communal as Thanksgiving Dinner and the Memorial Day celebrations are in the States. It's a Tradition. Memorial Fillers. BBQ's leave lasting memories of smoke, smells, people, and tastes as DJ BBQ discovers in his quest for great Fish Tacos.

From the Cherry Cola Smoked Duck to the Piri Piri Chicken Wings I am eager to head to the store this week! The sauces will be classics! I am adapting some of his recipes for upcoming Scouting trips; nothing like a Box Smoker to smoke a few racks of ribs will out on the woods!

Breaking down a few of the traditionally more difficult cuts Christian has taken on and deliciously illustrated how easy anyone can earn mad props from friends and family! I encourage everyone to not only add this book to their library but to try them out and giving RAD Props to those that shared with you!

I have to say this book looks fantastic each page has a recipe with a full page colour photo of the relevant dish on the opposite page so you can see exactly what the dish will look like, or should look like. It also gives you cooking techniques and BBQ tips this is, and I'm being sexist here but this is the perfect mans BBQ book my husband is just going to love it. Talking of my husband for his birthday last year he got a new barbecue, this turned out to be a never ending present since the rest of the year was spent buying all the additional extras he needed, meat thermometer, pizza stone, tandoori skewers the list goes on and on and unfortunately on.
This new barbecue also brought out a selection of new recipes found on the internet a few of these were good, most were ok and a couple were truly awful, awful as in uneatable and unforgettable I, being vegetarian was saved from this experience since the really bad ones were chicken. One in particular was for Chinese chicken wings the recipe asked for 3 tablespoons of Chinese 5 spice powder which my husband thought seemed a lot but since that's what it said, he realised later that it should have been 3 teaspoons.
In an effort to save not only money, from all the wasted food but also my family from having to try these dishes and groan every time the BBQ is mentioned I decided to find a book he could work his way through. This seemed an excellent choice, one thing I did notice is that most books, at least the ones I looked at didn't give a full breakdown of the recipes included which I would have liked so I've added one for you.
This will be the first actual full recipe book I've reviewed for the simple reason that once I've had a book long enough to work my way through at least half of the recipes in order to give a fair review I forget.
I'm reviewing this book before actually giving it to my husband hopefully to make it easier for anyone looking for any recipes in particular since I know I quickly I got fed up with downloading samples just so I could get the breakdown of contents and that only works for the books available on kindle.
I hope this helps and I'll update this review with notes on recipes as we try them but since it looks great I'm not anticipating any problems at all and hopefully with this book we can put the disasters of last year behind us.
