Very interesting book, well structured and easy to read. You don't need to be an aeronautical engineer to understand the few equations presented as this book is not mainly focused on a theoretical approach but on a more practical approach.
It's well structured in the way where each chapter will take you step y step through the jet engine.
This book doesn't detail too much of each part/caracteristics of the jet engine but gives you a pretty good oversight of its different caracteristics which is a nice way to start your study of jet engines. Once you've read it, you might want to go further with some more detailed/specialised reading.
There are quite a lot of pictures, data and performance charts which make the reading more enjoyable.
I was expecting a bit more of applied thermodynamics and maybe more detailed explanations about thrust control (in the case of an Autopilot/Autothrottle application).
As a conclusion, if you have an engineering backround (which i have) but not in the aeronautical field, this book is fun, easy readable, and will most likely answer many questions you might have about jet engines ! For those who do not have any engineering backround, don't worry, some basic knowledge in physics is normally sufficient !
