Présentation de l'éditeur

Dover gets darker. Romney gets rattier. Marsh gets moodier. Grimes gets grottier. History rears its ugly head on the Kent coast.

A film company comes to town and Detective Inspector Romney makes himself a powerful enemy. There are scores to settle. There’s going to be a reckoning and it’ll end in tears. Someone’s out for revenge. The lid’s off and so are the gloves. This time it’s personal. (That’s enough clichés).

Like Grimes’ diarrhoea, the third instalment of the Romney and Marsh Files builds to an explosive climax.

Some Amazon comments on the Romney and Marsh Files:

“I have read all three of the Romney and Marsh files and have enjoyed many hours of entertainment.”

“I've read all three in the series of Inspector Romney... I have enjoyed them immensely and would recommend that they all be made into films or TV series.”

“As with the others in the series the author sets a good pace with interesting character elements and a plot which keeps you interested throughout.”

“Done all three books now in this trilogy and been surprised how much I have enjoyed them as I have not read crime novels before.”

“I have read all 3 books in this series in the last month, I hope there will be more to come from this author as I have really enjoyed them.”

“This is the third book of the Romney and Marsh series I have read or should I say devoured in less than a week.”

“Excellent book. I hope this is not the last book in the Romney and Marsh series that Mr Tidy writes. Really enjoyed all three books.”

I am currently working on the first in my Booker and Cash stories Bad Sons and the fourth in the Romney and Marsh Files, provisionally titled Matters of Life and Death. After I have made these available on ebook, I’ll be tackling the third Acer Sansom, probably.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Hope it's the last of Romney and Marsh 13 juin 2013

Read the trio of Romney and Marsh books and actually gave the first one, Rope Enough a good rating in the hope that it'd build up to more details into the characters and story besides just dead bodies violently scattered all over.
However, even in the last one, Joint Enterprise, he did not make them more interesting or get deeper into their personalities. So Romney is more grumpy and growly, his sidekicks have more repartée, but there was not enough meat on the bones to make any of them more attaching or interesting. I thought the writing too slick, loads of clichés. And no, I don't think minute details of piles or haemmoriods add in any way to the value of the plot.
I rushed through to finish these books, I got the feeling that the author was getting as fed-up as I of the characters, and just wished to finish them off for good. I'm a little disappointed, I was hoping perhaps for another Peter Robinson to come along, but that's probably over the top wishful thinking.
Will I buy Oliver Tidy's books again - really can't say for now.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Joint Enterprise - the Romney and Marsh series. 14 novembre 2013

Is there a recovery program for readers of Oliver Tidy's books? I am addicted. I just finished Joint Enterprise the third in the Romney and Marsh series. I feel that authors need positive feed back, but when I write a review I don't want to reveal anything that would be considered a spoiler. If readers out there enjoy police procedural plots that are factual yet still entertaining, laced with subtle humour, These books are for you. It is amazing the number of suspects involved and the neat way Mr. Tidy ties it all together. The first book, Eough Rope might also be called No Loose Ends. I have one complaint the ending of this book is very dramatic, but there better be a fourth book, or Mr. Tidy may have to join a witness protection program.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Crazy Good Series! 23 août 2014

If I had not read the first two novels, Rope Enough and Making a Killing, I don't know how I would have felt about this one. It seems that my affinity for Romney carried over from the first two and that neither Romney nor Marsh would have been fully described for a new reader. Grimes, however, came alive this time out. This tale started out slow...it was beyond 13% on the Kindle counter, and we were still at the reenactment. Even in retrospect, that really could have been tightened up without any loss of story line. I suspected that the mystery was based upon a real event, and Mr. Tidy refers to it in his afterword and offers a link to the real story; that was a nice touch. Maybe because based in fact, the mystery itself was interesting and well-crafted. Once again, I laughed out loud at some of Romney's expressed views. I may be his female counterpart! There was one grammatical issue that I can't specifically cite; often dialogue that seemed, to me, to be a statement ended in a question mark. That was jarring and caused me to read the lines again, interrupting the flow. The ending certainly was dramatic, and I would have been upset, indeed, if I didn't already know that there is a fourth novel. Of course, now I'm forced to forego any constructive activity to begin A Dog's Life! Mr. Tidy had better get busy writing as I'm nearing the end of the trail....

<After a change of genre I have now read No. 3. I really feel that I know these people, love 'em or otherwise. Appreciate the slightly quirky and very British humour throughout.
I well remember the Zeebrugge tragedy.
Another good story with a good ploy at the end, ensuring immediate sales of No. 4 before too many reviews appear and give the game away. I'm about to order mine.

A very good read. The writing is smart and plots well constructed. The violence is not graphic or disturbing in a "keep you up all night"
These books are just plain great reads. Well constructed and easy reading with good plots that unfold. They reslove in a satisfying way and don't give cheap endings that just annoy. The violence seems real but no in that "keep you up all night with the creeps" way. The characters are appealing and not so overburdened with personal baggage that you feel like a social worker. It is the kind of book that I love to grab for a weekend trip or day at the beach or when I just want to relax. Very satisfying.I will look forward to more visits with Romney & Marsh.

I like the series and can appreciate the play on location with the character names. I don't really like Ins.Romney's character, but have read a lot recently especially in the kindle unlimited titles where the police characters are not really likeable, and where their personal gripes/angst causes a real slowdown in the plot. All things considered, these are better than some of the others I have read recently - my favorite authors just can't write as quickly as I can read !! This series does have some interesting plots, so if there is a book 5 I will keep reading. It is just not up to what I would consider a keeper to be read again and again as I would with Ian Rankin's books
