Présentation de l'éditeur

Packed full of cheery motivational quotes, proverbs and mantras, Keep Calm and Carry On is an uplifting gift book meant to give you a boost through troubled times. Discovered on a poster created by the British Ministry of Information for British soldiers before World War II, the slogan still manages to strike a chord in our current difficult times.

"Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm." --Winston Churchill

"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant." --Robert Louis Stevenson

"It's a recession when your neighbor loses his job; it's a depression when you lose your own." --Harry S. Truman

Carry it with you 22 novembre 2010

What a great little book!!Open it anywhere and get an inspiration, a good laugh, an answer to a prayer, or even a great idea. Just a little larger than a deck of cards, it will fit in your purse perfectly to have on hand when waiting, riding,or just sitting down to read and enjoy. Take my word for it. This little book is a real keeper.Would make a great stocking stuffer.

Keep Calm and Buy this Book 25 décembre 2009

This is a very nice collection of motivational quotes, an excellent substitute for that tattered old Jokes for the John book on your bathroom table. Inspired by a British war poster, the quotes are in that stiff-upper-lip spirit, though the book includes comments from other individuals, such as the British-admiring but very French Voltaire. It's also small in size--suitable for carrying in a purse (or murse) and reading in fleeting moments. There's not enough text to see you through an airline flight. Buy and enjoy.

BACK TO THE WAR 30 novembre 2010

Keep Calm and Carry On was one of the slogans posted all over England during the war. I was only five years old when it started, eleven when it was over. Winston Churchill spoke on the radio and everyone hung on every rousing word he spoke. We felt great solidarity and pride in our country as he told us that we would win and must stick together no matter what. My father was away at sea, my mother worked for the war effort and I went to school and kept a close eye on the Lloyd's shipping list to see where my father's ship was. Two of my schools were bombed out, but at night when we weren't there.

I have recently discovered Keep Calm... again, and find it reassuring when thinks look bleak. I remember back when I was a brave little girl and that slogan kept things in perspective. Thank you for the book. I ordered six copies so that I could share them--with my brother and several friends, some of whom were there, too.

A classic British Icon turned into a Classic British book. I don't feel I am qualified to give this review justice. So ill just say that I have purchased a handful of these and given them to friends. Everyone was touched and inspired by this little red book. I love the instant recognition of the logo and the wide variety of quotes found inside. I would recommend you pick this up, you will not be disappointed.

Or as the British would say "Keep A Stiff Upper Lip" 20 mars 2011

This is a priceless little "gem" .The roots of this book were found in a poster that the British Government's Ministry of Information created on the eve of WWII in 1939.Two and a half million copies of this poster were printed, but were to be used only upon the imminent threat of a German Invasion. They were never actually used and were almost all destroyed. However;a few were discovered in a dusty box of old books bought in auction by a British bookseller, Stewart Manley. He really didn't know what they were, but liked it so much that he hung a framed copy in his bookstore.Customers also liked it,and he had copies made ,and over the 70 years since its first appearance, he sold thousands of the posters ;plus many mugs,T-shirts,towels etc.Since 20o8, it has become very popular and now has become the pin-up of the current predicament that Britian finds itself in,particularly politically and economically.Drawing on over two millennia of common sense, from Cicero to Churchill, this book puts its finger on the mess the country is in,and moving forward from that sorry mess,to make life truly worthwhile.
Britian rose to its worldwide prominance during its Empire days;but throughout that time the British were always famous for creating stupendous blunders;but always were able to do this while "Keeping a stiff upper lip" or as as this poster proclaimed, "Keep Calm And Carry ON". This has never been been more demonstrated than with the British Monarchy and the Crown is such an appropriate logo for the poster and this book.
