Description de l'ouvrage

20 mars 2011
'There is no such thing as an alcoholic and there is no such disease as alcoholism! (as Society understands it).'

Whether or not you agree with this statement, one thing is for certain, you will never see alcoholism in the same light ever again after reading this book. Jason Vale takes an honest and hard hitting look at people's conceptions of our most widely consumed drug. His major argument is there is no such thing as an alcoholic and that we have been conditioned to accept alcohol as a 'normal substance in today's Society despite the fact that it is the major cause of many of today s social problems and a wide range of health issues.

This book is much more than a simple eye opener, it will: change the way you see alcohol forever show you how to stop drinking help you enjoy your life so much more than you do now without having to drink alcohol So open your mind and take a journey with Jason to explore the myths about the most used and accepted drug addiction in the world!

An astoundingly good down-to-earth and realistic look at alcohol addiction with real-life examples and effective strategies to do just what the book promises: stop drinking and do it easily and for life. After reading this book, I don't know how anyone, addicted or otherwise could go on drinking, even "socially", and feel good about it.

What amazes me most is that this book is only available in the UK and I could only get it as an import. Why, oh why, is this book not published here in the USA where thousands of people's lives are being ruined by alcohol? Where a book like this could do so much good? AA is one way to kick drinking that works for 6% of people who try it (these are AA's statistics, not mine). This book is an alternative for those who tried AA and found it unsuccessful for them. I'm not knocking AA - if it works for you, hurrah! I just think there should be more options (in addition to AA) being offered to people addicted to alcohol or other drugs.

I quit drinking on my own using this book and another called "Rational Recovery", and though I used to drink a bottle or more of wine every night, I don't miss it at all. Why? Because Stop Drinking 4 Life helped me see the light. Thank God for this book and Jack Trimpey's RR book!

I had noticed over the years that my social drinking converted into drinking on a daily basis a few hours before bed. I was always trying to exercise some level of control but found myself caught in a trap. I was eating right, exercising daily, (completed two full Ironman events) and sure had a lot of preaching to others about living healthy. I felt hypocritical because I knew I lacked control over alcohol and rarely was honest about my struggle. I had a brother that followed the same pathway over the years and was able to stop with the help of AA. I was annoyed with the whole "higher power" thing and I refused to subject myself to it. My wife and I were going to complete the 7 day juice plan with Jason Vale's book.....And that's where I heard of this amazing book. I read it in a couple of days and I was done with alcohol. It changed my whole perspective. I knew all the reasons why one shouldn't drink but that wasn't enough to motivate me. It was really about what I thought I benefited from alcohol was truly a lie. I feel amazing and no longer load myself up with caffeine all day to end the day with a depressant. I had no idea that alcohol was affecting my brain and my body the way that is was. I have a ton of energy and I'm thinking clearer. Jason.....if you ever read this.....your humor, writing style, and personality is awesome! I'm a very secular evidenced based person and your approach was perfect for someone like me. Thank you!!!!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Excellent book that has completely shifted my way of thinking about alcohol... 20 mars 2013

Excellent book that has completely shifted my way of looking at alcohol.

I picked-up the book with the intention of cutting-down. By the time I'd finished, I'd decided not to drink at all again, and so far I haven't (it's been over two months since then). Never say never, but so far, despite some social pressure, I just don't feel like drinking any more. And this is from someone who was petrified at the thoughts of having to quit: How could I ever relax again at the end of the day, or enjoy a social event etc.

Never has a book so influenced my thinking on anything. I'm so glad I found it. I LOVE waking-up hangover-free every morning, and no longer thinking about my alcohol consumption in any way.

When I started reading this, I was very skeptical. It started getting a bit repetitious, and I wasn't always quite sure what point he was trying to make. But, it really opened my eyes to some things that should be very obvious to us all, but to which we have been brainwashed to the opposite, and I was so excited to stop drinking. It is not the struggle and sacrifice that AA or the doctors warn you about. I was a pretty heavy drinker, but could not wait to finish the book and get on with my healthy lifestyle. I haven't had a drink since then, and it is not that I am keeping track of the days that I have "been sober". This book really is life altering. My life doesn't revolve around alcohol anymore and I don't miss it (or the hangovers, or the blackouts, or the embarrassments... ).

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great Book! 9 décembre 2011

This book takes an entirely different approach than AA or any other program for "Kicking the Drink". I like it. It is well written and very uplifting! It doesn't come off as condemning a person for feeling they have a problem with drinking but rather stating that ALL alcohol consumption is poison to the body whether you drink "socially" or are a flat out drunk, it doesn't matter, no one should consume it and not one person is immune from the negative (health) affects of consuming alcohol (poison). If you are considering giving up alcohol or no someone who is, this really is a good book that is worth the read. I highly recommend it!
