Présentation de l'éditeur

Simple to follow step-by-step saxophone instruction for blues and rock sax styles through the use of three saxophone blues scales. The accompanying video saxophone lessons are focused and to the point of getting you to play what the title states: How To Play Killer Blues and Rockin' Sax Solos With 7 Notes Or Less. This rock and blues saxophone method includes lessons, exercises and licks all shown and demonstrated through audio and video clips along with musical notation. Also included are professionally recorded play-along tracks so you can practice and experiment with the given examples and finally feel comfortable and confident with your own saxophone improvisation style over any type of blues, rock and pop music. This is not just a book about theory and showing you the written blues scales, but actual licks and useful exercises you can watch and hear through video lessons and audio clips. A real life example of a famous rock and roll sax solo which is broken down and dissected so you can hear and understand how it relates exactly to the lessons covered.
*Note - all lessons have a link which corresponds to the online audio and video clips. You can also connect with the author Johnny Ferreira and other saxophonists on his forum for any saxophone related questions.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Buy this Book 2 novembre 2012

After putting in huge amounts of commitment to learning the Tenor Sax over the last 7 years and buying endless books that promised the key to the craft, finally the one that lives up to its promise. Johnny Ferreiras lessons are wonderfully accessible . His chatty style is a refreshing contrast to the other sax lessons I have taken. Learning Sax has become fun again with a real bluesy sax sound coming through almost straight away and encouraging almost instantly noticeable progress. If you are reasonably comfortable on your basic scales, you are ready for this book. Too many music books are slightly rarefied in their approach, and frankly take the fun out of learning. The combination of video and book is an absolute winner. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Im also going to buy the beginner one to make sure there was nothing I missed. Johnny...... take a bow, oh and that most extreme of New Zealand accolades, a chocolate fish.

Johnny Ferreira has done a great job of putting together a fun and instructive book on how to play the blues and rock on the sax - both alto and tenor. He has a life of experience playing and brings his knowledge and passion in creating this work for the sax player who has advanced from being a total novice. The student can see Johhny play, read the music, listen to Johnny play on the audio and then practice playing with the written music and back tracking. As a senior who played the sax when young, totally by reading music in the school band, this is a delight to learn scales and exercises that help promote improvised playing and understanding how it is done. This is really fun and challenging. Any player who wants to learn how to do this on their own while sitting in the comfort of their home, can spending hours practicing and mastering what Johnny has assembled. Unless you are an advanced player that already plays with a jazz, blues or rock group, this book will take you to new places and is a great value for only $10.00.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Like a great R&B/blues-rock private sax lesson dirt cheap 13 novembre 2012

Includes soloing material, daily exercises/comping patterns for blues-rock in 3 modes normally used for R&B/Blues-rock playing and a detailed style lesson on a Bobby Keys Brown Sugar solo. Also includes an excellent history of the players and music. He also offers some stylistic examples of how to use a given line for either shuffle blues, swing or rock. That was especially interesting to me.

Just like a private lesson, this is a complete, but digestable chunk of material to tackle and master. Parts transcribed for both tenor and alto.

This isn't one of those type a)just learn the blues scale or b)memorize these 75 scales and call me in the morning, type of lesson/methods. This is instant material that you can learn from and then use.

PS. There are some goodies (including videos) that you get in addition to the Kindle book. So this isn't just "dots." He shows you how to use the material.

Keep 'em coming, Johnny!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Fun & informative way to learn Blues & Rock sax 30 octobre 2012

This training course is perfect for the sax player that wants to take his playing to a place where they can perform with a band. The exercises are simple to understand but surprisingly challenging. It's very helpful that there is both written material, videos, but what I like most are the audio tracks that allow you to either play along w/ Johnny, or w/out him & just the backup band. Today I spent over 3 hours practicing & the time flew by since the exercises are fun & sound great when you play them correctly. For $10.00 this is a GREAT course that I know will give me years of pleasure playing rock & the blues.

Johnny has done a good job here putting together not only an instructive book but makes it a lot of fun too with the accompanying video lessons that really lets you see how he does it so you can copy. It has music and play along tracks for both alto and tenor which I appreciated since I have both.
