Présentation de l'éditeur

From a two time cancer survivor--prostate and squamous throat and tongue--L. J. Martin offers a look at what he believes allowed him to beat killer cancer and return to a normal productive life. Martin is not a medical professional and does not prescribe, but offers a frank and candid look at how he approached the disease, and survived, using all the tools at hand: modern medicine, herbs, homeopathic, exercise, and above all a positive mental attitude. This is a layman's look at cancer from a patient's viewpoint, and stroll down the cancer trail with one man who came out on top.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Cancer - no death sentence 25 novembre 2012
Format:Format Kindle|Achat vérifié
A journal by a cancer survivor, following his investigation and treatment for squamous tongue cancer after previously having prostate cancer. His experiences are recorded with honesty, courage and humour. His fight utilised conventional medicine and also herbal supplements and his own dietary changes. He details his search for knowledge about cancer, for the most appropriate treatment and the hospitals and surgeons providing the best options for his particular case. His message is that cancer is not a death sentence and advocates a positive attitude and living as healthy a life as possible to help defeat it. I found this book very moving.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Fantastic, Educational Read 4 janvier 2012

This book was an easy read, well put together, interesting and educational. I have seen some documentaries about different methods of alternative medicine for battling cancer and this book was far more informative than all of the documentaries I've seen. Having gone through a family member passing away after a battle with cancer in 2010, it was interesting and insightful to see what the treatment is like for the persons going through it.

The writing is honest, refreshing and the author shares his introspective thought process throughout the entire ordeal. This book is a great read for cancer patients, those afflicted looking for another means of treatment and for family members of those with cancer, having passed from cancer or survivors.

The first part of the book describes Martin's experience with Prostate Cancer and his treatment in Missoula, Montana. The second part of the book describes Martin's experience with Stage 3 Base of Tongue cancer and his treatment at MD Anderson in Houston. I was interested in the book because I am being treated for Base of Tongue cancer. Most of his readers, I would imagine, are also cancer patients or survivors. Part of his experience reads as a diary, and it is predictably optimistic and self-therapeutic. I wanted to read a little more about his recovery, and what he might have done differently in hindsight.

This is a fascinating book about the journey of a cancer survivor. In his journal are pearls of knowledge that will help you discover:

* How to be assertive in dealing with healthcare professionals
* How to be a collaborator with your healthcare team.
* The importance of being cautious with information you find on the internet.
* What you might expect in the diagnostic and treatment process.
* What can one expect from radiation treatment and much, much more...

What I especially liked was the style of the author who was able to convey the information of his personal story in a way that made you feel like a friend sitting in his living room. Highly recommended.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Not just for cancer patients 22 novembre 2012

I learned that according to the American cancer society, one in two men and one in three women will develop some form of cancer in their lifetimes. If that doesn't wake you up to learning more about cancer and how to kill it, then what you don't know WILL HURT YOU. This book is the perfect introduction to the life and lifestyle of not just surviving cancer, but beating it completely.

This book is written in the form of a personal journal which is very insightful. The author explains the process of how to look for cancer warning signs in your body, how to see a doctor right away, what questions to ask, how to prepare your mind for treatment, and how to ask for a second opinion to determine what is right for you situation.

I really could't find any. I usually list two or three in my reviews, but in this case I cannot. The book is well written and keeps your attention from beginning to the end.

I highly recommend Killing Cancer. In my opinion, it is an incredible resource for CANCER PREVENTION for people who do not have it. The author provides warning signs and simple preventative measures that work. He explains in detail how he fought to elevate his body's pH (alkalinity) which I have researched over the last 12 years as being one of the best and most effective cancer killers. So whether you are healthy or in the fight for your life, grab this book to know that you can prevent it and even beat it if you set your mind to it.

Killing Cancer is a very candid account about L. J.s fight with cancer. I would recommend this book to anyone who is fighting the disease or anyone who knows someone fighting the disease and would like to know what it's like.
