I read very few non-fiction books, but Susan Case's manuel for both kindergarten parents and teachers is a must have! I wish this wealth of information had been available to me when my children started school; it would especially have been helpful for their first grade experiences.

KINDERGARTEN: TATTLE-TALES..., is well organized, informative and easy-to-read. Put this one on your must-read list. Not only is the book chock full of wonderful information about dealing with small children, but there's a chapter listing wonderful recipes, including sugar cookies, play-doh, and something called goo. (This would be wonderful for a rainy afternoon and restless, bored children.)

As a mother of three and grandmother of three, I highly recommend.

Have you ever wondered what kindergarten is like these days? Well, Susan Case, the author of Kindergarten: Tattle-Tales, Tools, Tactics, Triumphs and Tasty Treats for Teachers and Parents gives you a brief, yet real glimpse into a typical classroom that doesn't have to be so typical! As a former Kindergarten teacher myself, I was instantly engaged in Susan's funny stories about these loveable little children. This book was full of wonderful information for both teachers and parents. Her personable approach easily shines in every chapter as well as the love she has for the children and for teaching. She has such a natural way in sharing important information that every parent and teacher should know. She has inspired me to pursue more fun in my own home as I move toward preschool activities and homeschooling. Her anecdotes and jokes are a relieving offset to the demands of everyday teaching. She has many "just plain FUN ideas" that will encourage parents and teachers to dive beyond the regular routine of school. The recipes are easy and delicious. I can't wait to make many of these simple yummies with my son. I really wish I had this book when I was teaching. I really enjoyed this book and I think it would be an excellent gift for a teacher or parent of a preschooler or kindergarten student.

Susan is a beautiful person, with her loving, kind, and caring ways. Susan Case's writing is touching and inspirational, speaking from her own life's experiences. If anyone is considering becoming a Kindergarten Teacher or has been teaching kindergarten, this is a must-read. I love the book!

Ten chapters moves along at a brisk pace, with exciting tips and tales, hilarious jokes and meaningful quotes woven through many, deep and precious stories from the author's relationship with children and their parents.

If you are a teacher or crafty grandma and parent who loves holidays like me, you'll want to write down recipes and make a list of some valuable links and teacher resources. The book is an excellent addition for your school, church and home library.

I especially loved reading a tender moment about Hugs from Seaver, a book donation project, with tissue in hand. Enough can't be said for teachers who put in long hours serving and are passionate about their profession of teaching, sacrificing and investing in children's lives. You will be rewarded!

An excellent book and I plan to re-read often. Susan has a gift of seeing through a child's perspective and preparing them for their tomorrow. Thank you for sharing these treasures with us, so we may become better teachers.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Valuable resource for teachers and parents alike 30 août 2011

This easy-to-read book will be a much referred to treasure for teachers, parents, and grandparents alike. I include grandparents as beneficiaries of all that the author, Susan Case, has to offer in dealing with kindergarteners. More grandparents than ever find themselves caring for young charges and the world has changed greatly in the last few decades.

Written with humor and wisdom gleaned from years in the schoolroom, each chapter is sprinkled with quotes from famous personalities, tips on how to help five and six-year-olds and their teacher successfully navigate the kindergarten year, and age-appropriate activities. Included is a chapter featuring such fun recipes as dirt pudding, dinosaur food, and haystacks.

Unless you've been a teacher or had one in the family, this book gives new insight to the term, "teacher." You'll laugh and perhaps shed a few tears, but you'll certainly feel ready to face the kindergarten years with the knowledge necessary to survive.
