Présentation de l'éditeur

Deputy US Marshal Miro Jones has a reputation for being calm and collected under fire. These traits serve him well with his hotshot partner, Ian Doyle, the kind of guy who can start a fight in an empty room. In the past three years of their life-and-death job, they've gone from strangers to professional coworkers to devoted teammates and best friends. Miro’s cultivated blind faith in the man who has his back… faith and something more.

As a marshal and a soldier, Ian’s expected to lead. But the power and control that brings Ian success and fulfillment in the field isn't working anywhere else. Ian’s always resisted all kinds of tied down, but having no home—and no one to come home to—is slowly eating him up inside. Over time, Ian has grudgingly accepted that going anywhere without his partner simply doesn't work. Now Miro just has to convince him that getting tangled up in heartstrings isn't being tied down at all.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 I'm relieved to say....It didn't suck! I actually liked it. 18 juillet 2014

After reading some early comments by reviewers I was a little worried All Kinds of Tied Down was going to be another Floodgates, which I really, REALLY, did not enjoy. But it was so much better!

Yes, Miss Mary still has a coat fetish (but would she be Mary without it?), as well as other oddities, but there is a definite lack of the overusage of ex boyfriends and adorable small children.

But I didn't love it. Maybe I'm just in a meh mood lately, but I didn't find it as compelling as I do other Calmes books.

Perhaps I missed everyone in a 5 state radius telling the MC he's a beautiful shiny light in their lives and everyone who doesn't hate him for being so awesomely fabulous, loves him and/or wants to rub one off on his leg?

Whatever! It was still entertaining, ridiculous & romantic good fun. Guaranteed to appeal to Mary fans everywhere.

P.S. Sam Kage makes several appearances in this book. I think I'm going to have to read the entire Matter of Time series over again.

P.P.S. I just want to add...Miss Mary?

Mary Calmes has done it again with this one. These two very alpha males make for a great story. With no sex between them until after half way through there is a great build up, a hell of a lot of posturing, major mis-communication and a whole lot of wishful thinking.

Miro Jones and Ian Doyle are Deputy US Marshalls. They have been partners for 3 years and are best friends. Miro has been lusting after and falling for Ian the entire time and it has almost become an obsession. Ian, seemingly oblivious and straight, is currently in a relationship but seems to spend most of his time with his partner.

The drama and the ‘work side’ of the story wasn’t what held my attention in this book although the gun fights are a little crazy and the action is nonstop. It was the intricate signs of their relationship and how they were so very obvious but then not obvious at all. You could practically feel Ian vibrating on the page with need but not knowing how to get what he wanted. He was not only trying to start a relationship with another man for the first time but he was trying to work out how to ask for what he was craving for. He was strong, possessive and totally committed but also so unsure of himself and their relationship, I think I fell in love with him.

I found myself really tied up with these characters, hated when it ended and wanted more! I was sorry to leave them when everything seemed to fall into place. Miro was very astute in how he handled Ian, understanding how hard it was for him. What about the surprise at the end with Kage?…I wanted to go to his planned party and learn more about that too. This has definitely gone onto my favourite shelf!

Mary Calmes' books are still an automatic buy for me although I liked her earlier books better than the last couple of books. U.S. Marshalls Miro Jones and Ian Doyle have been partners for years. They were basically a couple without the sex because Ian is believed to be straight. However, when they came together, I wanted to say "finally". It was good to get a glimpse of previous characters from the earlier books.

I hope this is a new series - there is a familiarity in the story style while also being a new story line.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 I liked it despite myself 3 août 2014

Ok, so I'm a fairly new Calmes convert. I've had mixed results with what I've read so far. I seem to really like or dislike a book by her. There is very little middle ground. And while those I dislike I can tell you exactly what it was that put me off, those I like just kind of fill me with a vague unnamed warmth that I can't very clearly communicate.

I suppose this could be called a purely emotional response, because, lawdy, it can't be the complexity of the plots or the depth of the characters. Neither are extensive, the plot is basically a series of events allowing the characters time to work their feelings out (ok, so there basically isn't one) and the characters could be called well fleshed out only if they were, in fact, 12 year olds. As true adult males, they lack a lot. Nor can it be the realism. Seriously, bones knit in weeks instead of month and apparently every other law enforcement agent in American is openly gay and the remaining half are all open and accepting of sexual diversity. It can't even be the consistency, since the scene that ostensibly gives the book its most obvious title actually breaks the pattern set throughout the book, going against character for at least one of the men.

Regardless, this book is no exception to my obvious preference patter and it falls on the warm fuzzy, I liked if for unknown reasons, side of the equation. I can objectively tell you it was full of cliché characters. The über alpha that secretly just wants to submit, the fashion conscious gay man and fashion oblivious 'straight' guy, yep I've seen them all before. What's more, it's full of cliché Calmes characters. The names change from book to book, but the characters remain largely the same. The thing is that they apparently work for me.

I keep thinking, 'this should be a crap book. It's completely formulaic. In fact, even having only read a fraction of Mary Calmes vast collection, I've still read what could easily be mistaken for this book already.' I keep thinking that, but then I think, 'yeah, but can get another one, please.'

So, I duck my head in shame, but I admit it out loud; this book is simplistic, cliché, predictable and my god the sap at the end is enough to suffocate me (honestly, this I could do without) but I liked it. I just can't help it. Whatever alchemic hormone mix is secreted into my bloodstream as a result of reading this particular combination of man on man action is a win, even when I don't want it to be.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 I loved this book 10 août 2014

You might think the title refers to BDSM. It doesn't, so let's just get that out the way.

Miro Jones and Ian Doyle, US Marshals and work partners, face death by bullet or knife on a daily basis. Very different characters, but each fiercely loyal to their partner. So loyal, they could be an old married couple ...

I loved this book. Loved the characters, butch tough-guy Ian and designer loving, smooth operator Miro. I loved the build-up, the banter, the "oh it's such a shame he isn't gay" when it was so frigging obvious they both were to everyone but each other. The tenderness, the ferocious first time, the blood and guts. This was a great read, very well-written, funny and I didn't want it to end. I love the way Mary Calmes writes, the way she gets inside the characters' heads.

Also, she must have done some good research because the situations, the dialogue and the people around them were very believable. Great sub-plots, with care given to the people involved in those without ever losing focus on the main deal, the relationship between these two intelligent, hot, lusty men who were made for each other.

This is a really sexy book.

Buy it.
