Pictures Worth More Than 1000 Words 13 avril 2013
Par David Donelson - Publié sur
Format: Relié
Golf instruction is a remarkably visual process. Every instructor encourages you to visualize your shot before you hit it (or try to). Most of them use video to show you what you're doing right and wrong and digital technology makes it possible to put your swing up on the screen next to the best tour pros so you can see how it compares. There are even gizmos you can attach to your club that send a signal to your iPad that in turn creates an avatar replicating your swing on the small screen complete with more stats than you can ever use about your swing speed, launch angle, etc. None of these instruction methods, however, is as creative and imaginative as those in Kinetic Golf: Picture The Game Like Never Before.

Nick Bradley, a well-known golf instructor, consultant, and coach, takes a radical approach to visualizing golf shots. Need to hit a bunker shot without digging your wedge into the sand? Bradley recommends imagining a dinosaur egg buried just under your ball with Mama T-Rex looking over your shoulder to make sure your swing is shallow enough to protect her baby. Trying to hit a delicate pitch shot into a crosswind? Think of what would happen if a parachute would open on your ball when it reaches the apex of its trajectory to get some idea of how the wind will carry it to the target.

These are effective images conveyed in words, but the best part of Bradley's approach is his use of spectacularly altered photos to illustrate the concepts. Kinetic Golf contains 125 fabulously Photo-shopped pictures that not only help you understand his points but guarantee you'll remember them. Even the images explaining the basics of the game like how to get a proper grip on the club or what role your right knee plays during the swing are demonstrated with vivid, memorable images.

Is a picture really worth a thousand words? In golf instruction the way Bradley does it, that's definitely true. As a golf writer and photographer, I see a lot of golf instruction material. I'll be studying Kinetic Golf for a long time.

Maybe too many pictures 9 avril 2013

I liked Nick's Seven laws, and having read an extract of this book in a golfing magazine I decided to give this a try.

Nick obviously believes that a powerful picture makes the message stick in your mind, and this is the purpose of the book.

However. I have a feeling that this book is overkill as the book in essence is a series of tips covering all aspects of the game, each with a 'photoshop' type illustration, almost all of which show Nick.

For me this has two effect:

- There are pictures illustrating points that don't seem to particularly need one, so you pay less attention to the ones that are important.

- the text is quite weak with many of the points not going into much depth. Almost all the points are quite interesting, but it is really a series of tips, and I would have liked more information in the text.

There, is some coverage of subjects covered in his first book, but it also covers ares such as putting and the short game that were not in that book.

One of my bugbears of the first book is that is was difficult for me to understand from the picture and description his method of putting the club in front of you to grip it,so I had to look around for a Youtube to find it.

The picture and description in this book are far better.

Its obvious that a great deal of effort has gone into the book and the illustrations. In contrast to the first book they are all in color so I guess that makes them easier to remember. But for me I would have preferred less illustrations and more detail in the written text.

Still a worthwhile read for fans of his first book.

Take Your Golf Game to the Next Level 8 mai 2013

This book is a must have for golfers of every level. If you are like me, you're tired of having a golf game that consists of tips and tricks your buddies give you out on the course. The 7 Laws was my first step in actually knowing what I was supposed to be doing. Nick makes it so easy to visualize and put into practice proper technique. I got my copy of Kinetic Golf while attending the Masters Tournament this year, and couldn't put it down. I have taken lessons and improved my game, but eventually the old habits creep back in and I forget every little detail the instructor gave on how to hit every type of shot. Kinetic Golf is a must have reference guide to use after each round as you review the mistakes you made. Pulling your shots with an uphill lie? You can fix it quick with Nicks effective instructions at your constant finger tips.

I find the images extremely helpful in actually putting the words into action. I take the book with me to the driving range to insure I am practicing correctly. Thanks Nick for lowering my SCORE!
Shut off the TV and read this one. 15 juillet 2013

This book is good reading with some interesting concepts, pictures and a thought provoking look at the game. It will give the reader a pretty broad spectrum of ideas and techniques to consider for implementing into his own game. I recommend this one for reading to simply help expand one's understanding of the game and the shots and thoughts needed to take the next step to improvement. It seems to be an expansion of the authors excellent book "The Seven Laws of the Golf Swing" which I feel should be read and studied by every golfer. Buy this book and shut the TV off and read it. I would give it four stars only because I use some different techniques than the author describes but the ones described by the author are solid and proven and warrant a five star rating. Don't expect to read this one in one night and when completed, will give you greatly expanded views of the game. Don't set it down because you may disagree with the author, He will make you think. Buy it and get stated reading it !
In my opinion the best golf instruction book ever written! 6 mai 2013

I know that is saying a lot but if you had to only buy one golf instruction book to take to your desert island this would be the one.
Having purchased virtually every book and DVD on golf, I can honestly say that this one is the most creative and entertaining one yet.
No matter if you're a high handicapper or a tour pro you will get something valuable from it and will probably refer to it often.
The fact that each chapter is a bite sized lesson along with a brilliant visual that burns into your memory makes it especially practical.
It's also comforting to know that the author has so much credibility having taught Justin Rose and many other top players as well as beginners and juniors.
Get it,you won't regret it!
