Connection is the name of our times 13 janvier 2013

I purchased Kinfolk Magazine for a group of friends whose livelihood depends on making great connections within their organization.
They LOVED it.

Kinfolk makes you want to open up yourself to close friends and beyond. It inspires hospitality.
It is very visual. The images draw you in and make you want to reenact the connections in your world.
They make it seem possible.

Don't miss an issue.

The criticisms are valid, but this is still a stunning publication 15 juin 2013

I read the most critical reviews of this magazine and yes, the type is painfully small and I don't think it would hurt the design to bump the type up a few points, but overall thats a small complaint. This isn't a magazine designed to be read while waiting for some appointment somewhere. It isn't a wealth of knowledge on any particular subject but rather a subtly poetic ode to the modern desire to reconnect with forgotten tradition. Which I find beautiful.
The images appear carefully curated and this is something to be appreciated as a whole. It's a sit down on a Sunday morning with a cappuccino and escape into foggy little world full of farm to table restaurants, homemade baked goods and friendly neighbors. Or something like that.
And if you can appreciate that then this is for you!
Aside from content, the publication in general is really well put together. Great paper stock, gorgeous printing, really made to stand the test of time and I'm glad Amazon recommended this and I'm glad I decided to give it a try. It might be my new favorite thing.
But again, if you're looking for a traditional magazine or you're not into the (admittedly hipster-adopted and targeted!) content, then pass this up. But it's truly lovely.
Think Vogue for life, minus the fluff and ads, extra heavy on fantastical editorials. Can't wait for the next one to arrive.

Read, Learn, Enjoy 20 octobre 2013

These series of magazines are perhaps the best I've ever found. There like a table book, but oh so much more. You will be enlightened to things I've never even thought of before. Such as being a butcher in France, how to gather friends and family together in the simplest, yet, most elegant way imaginable. It shows you how food and people should come together. The pictures are a delight and the recipes like "Stick Bread" in one of the issues is seriously worth trying over your outdoor fire pit or your wood fireplace. I've been anxiously awaiting to try it this fall and this winter if the power goes out. I've found that using King Arthur Flour unbleached for bread is the best for this....Just a FYI.
Most beautiful and thoughtful magazine I have read in a long time! 2 mars 2013

I am so impressed by this group of creative people. Content was a good mix of fiction short stories and photo essays and recipes. Very refreshing to look at and read. Very nice to not have an advertising in a magazine with a very simple and clean layout. The high quality paper and ink chosen to print with is gorgeous as well. Will be buying more of these in the future.
Type too small! 14 juillet 2014

Type is too small. Seriously, guys. There's small-as-in-elegant and there's SMALL. What is this, 8 pt.? I had to buy reading glasses just to read this. Otherwise it's a nice publication. I liked the recipes in this one.
