Ably combining the how-to style of do-it-yourself books with the encyclopedic approach of larger works, Miller has produced a valuable reference tool for the experienced investor and an essential source for the beginning or amateur investor. By couching investment undertakings within the framework of larger, overall goals and more specific individual needs, Miller's book satisfies the needs of almost any investor: the short-term investor aiming for a vacation in Europe (try a CD); the medium-term investor shooting for a larger house in three or four years (try longer-term CDs or high-yield mutual funds); and, of course, the long-term investor who can benefit from a wide range of investment possibilities. The book's greatest strength is its comprehensive approach; other works tend to be more topic oriented. Overall, a very good buy for popular finance collections.
