This skimpy quasi-book took me about ten minutes to read – and the information it contains about Kundalini is wrong and incomplete.

The author writes: “Kundalini is the source of untapped energy residing in the base of the spine.” No, it’s not. Kundalini is the force-flow of awakened Consciousness uncoiling one’s mortal “coils,” or nadis. Although the “lower” Kundalini is commonly first felt to awaken at the base of the spine, the primal Energy, or “higher” Kundalini, is emitted from and resorbed into the Heart-center (located two digits to the right of the center of one’s chest), which is the locus of Self-realization.

The author writes: “You attain liberation, enlightenment or Moksha when this energy reaches the crown or sahasrara chakra.”

The author is wrong. When the ascending, or spinal, Kundalini reaches the crown, the yogi can experience nirvikalpa samadhi (formless engrossment), but he cannot attain liberation, or sahaj samadhi (permanent effortless abidance as the Self), until the “higher”, or descending, Kundalini cuts his Heart-knot (the Hridayam, not the Anahata heart chakra).

The author writes: “The purpose of awakening the Kundalini yoga is to unite the Muladhara chakra with the Sahasrara chakra.”

First, off, this statement demonstrates how sloppily this book was plastered together. The sentence should read: “The purpose of awakening the Kundalini,” not “The purpose of awakening the Kundalini yoga,” Secondly, the purpose of awakening Kundalini is not to unite the base chakra with the crown chakra; it is to unite Kundalini (as Spirit Power, or Shakti) with one’s soul (contracted Siva in the Heart-center), and thus realize oneself as Siva-Shakti, the Self.

This book contains a number of yoga exercises, and some of them, such as Bhastrika, which literally forces the Kundalini to awaken, should NOT be performed except under the guidance of an experienced teacher. To cavalierly practice Kundalini yoga is to risk the wrath of the Serpent Power. But this superficial text doesn’t broach the subject of the dangers of Sri Kundalini.

Very long time back I had tried learning Kundalini Yoga but couldn't continue because the book was very difficult to follow, I had lost my interest during that time. But I somehow got reference to this book through my friends and the language is very simple to understand and the steps are easy follow. I started practicing the Kundalini Yoga especially the Ajna Chakra and and I'm seeing the result. It will take some time to become master in it. But I'm willing to spend time in it as its worth it. Thanks to the Author.

I admit I have never heard of Kundalini Yoga before and always thought yoga was just yoga, however after reading this book my perception of this meditation form has changed.
Everything is covered in this book from the origins of Kundalini yoga to clear steps and instructions on how to practice it including the many benefits of this unique form of meditation.
If you are looking for a short read so you can quickly get started practicing Kundallini yoga I would highly recommend this book.

Although I'm relatively new to yoga, I am a fanatic and it's a big part of my life now. I had never heard of kundalini yoga, and I love to learn about new ways to improve my practice, so I grabbed this book. As it turns out, this type of yoga teaches intense focus on the power centers of the body. I've implemented some of the advice in this book into my practice and wow has it improved my focus, my flexibility, and the meditative effect I love. Great book and highly recommended for all yogis, whether beginners or advanced!

I have been trying different styles of Yoga and bought this because I was curious as to what Kundalini Yoga was about. I found the book to be very informative and easily explained what I needed to know. I liked the fact the author also presented the fact that science is now starting to recognize the fact Yoga has health benefits also. There is also a full breakdown of poses and while more pics would have been nice I feel I am well set up to start. It has what you need to know.
