Une très belle voix, des mélodies variées et réussies, ce cd est une vraie réussite. Il m'accompagne en voiture, et quand je corrige des copies, me permet de rester zen devant les sottises que je lis parfois...

Extraordinary musicianship and beautiful composition from Guinea Bissau 4 juin 2007
Par Salty Saltillo - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Eneida Marta is up against significant obstacles in breaking into the North American markets compared to any Cape Verdean artist. Unlike Cape Verdeans, the musicians of Guinea Bissau only have a limited expat community, largely confined to Portugal other locations in Europe, to tap into in promoting their music. Of course, Eneida Marta is not the first artist from Guinea Bissau to try to reach international markets, but that doesn't make her task any easier. To my disappointment and to my knowledge, Eneida Marta's focus on promoting this disc has been limited to European performances.

With that said, Eneida Marta truly is a gem of an artist who deserves the attention and appreciation of everyone who is interested in the music scenes of contemporary Africa. We north americans are really missing out on something special. In the 8 months or so since I bought this record, it has slowly become my favorite record. Every time I listen to it I hear something new and marvelous. The arrangements are very well structured, creative, sophisticated, and charming to hear. Although Eneida and her band are west african through and through, they have clearly learned and assimilated many lessons from a wide variety of styles and rhythms, most prominently jazz composition and performance, and you can hear it on every track. Although this is a studio performance with limited track time allocated to each song, I get a sense from the structure and improvisational opportunities the musical structures create that these musicians and this singer performing live, free from the constraints of time, might potentially make a spectacular soundfest out of every song on this recording. Eneida Marta and the Lope Kai record are a rare treat and I cannot wait until her team turns its attention on North American markets and gives us more opportunities to hear her and her wonderful wonderful band.

Eneida Marta's "Lope Kai" 27 janvier 2013
Par john d. Morefield - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD Achat vérifié
It seems unlikely, from the little reading I've done online, that Eneida Marta will aquire the audience in the U.S. that she deserves; what a shame. I first encountered this lovely talent on Putumayo's "An Afro-Portuguese Odyssey," and was completely bewitched by "Na bu mons," one of the loveliest things I have heard in years. Of course I searched out what information there was online, of which there is very little. I have mined Youtube, of course (if you don't know her, this song has been mounted several times; listen to it; listen to it several times), and there are a couple of live-performance videos that are good. The song I just mentioned is not on "Lope Kai." I had to listen to this CD, which seems to be in short supply and for which I paid quite a bit more than I'm accustomed to paying for CDs on Amazon and its associated sellers, several times before I began to appreciate it. Repeated listening, however, repaid me handsomely. I won't say which cuts I have settled on as favorites, leaving that to whomever buys this album; but there are two or three which I think come close to the beauty and excitement of "Na bu mons." What a wonderful singer she is; and her supporting musicians, arrangers, writers, and producers are superlative. This album, like so many offerings from the community of companies who are producing the music of the Lusophone countries--Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau (the home of Eneida Marta), and others--are enriching the life of this, for what it is worth, 72-year-old, male, rural, east-Tennessean. Thanks, all you people, and thanks Eneida Marta.

I'm so happy I purchased this CD on a whim. I was richly rewarded. Eneida Marta is a very exotic and fantastic singer.
