HASH(0x97b397e0) étoiles sur 5 Great Selection of Songs but little instruction 13 mars 2010
Par R. Holinga - Publié sur Amazon.com
This book is a great supplement to Juan Martin's El Arte Flamenco de la Guitarra OR Mel Bay Play Solo Flamenco with Juan Martin because it has many concert pieces of many styles.Trouble is,there is little instruction, focusing mostly on the history and the execution of the song rather than going to the very basics. The DVDs provide great visual and verbal hints on how to get the right feeling into each piece.Very good material if used in conjunction with any of the 2 books mentioned above....for the intermediate player.

HASH(0x97b39e4c) étoiles sur 5 good flamenco instruction from a master teacher 28 septembre 2009

I'm an experienced amateur guitarist with a love of flamenco. I've spent the last couple of years learning and practicing from 2 volumes of "El arte flamenco" and the 1st volume of "Mel Bay Play Solo Flamenco Guitar with Juan Martin Book". These are the best materials I've encountered for learning to play flamenco... Martin is an excellent teacher and there's sufficient variety to keep any guitar student of flamenco interested. I bought "La Guitarra Flamenca", his newest instructional book, without knowing much about it. It's a curious hybrid of advanced material along with some very basic introductory material. There are 6 chapters, and each opens with Martin playing some bulerias falsetas (definitely not for the beginner), followed by a mix of basic stuff for guitarists with little or no knowledge of flamenco as well as advanced falsetas for more experienced guitarists. His comments and demonstrations on the 2 included DVDs are definitely worth watching at least once, and there are plenty of good ideas even for guitarists who already have a reasonable knowledge of basic flamenco. Overall this is another excellent collection of good material for the student of flamenco.

HASH(0x97b39aa4) étoiles sur 5 Excellent transition from Juan Martin's other book. 11 avril 2012

As someone have mentioned about "Guitarra Flamenca", this booklet or book would be a step transition from Juan Martin's other book called "El Arte de Flamenco".

I have the booklet with the VHS tapes but also recently purchased the book with DVD. Its an excellent book for intermediate or advanced players reviewing the different song portfolio.

If you can play these pieces, you can move on to Paco de Lucia.

Juan Martin is an excellent instructor for flamenco guitar. I can tell you the songs in the book aims toward the intermediate level to advance level. You need to have a basic understanding of rasqueo, tremolo, ligado, arpeggios, and picado. If you don't have a basic understanding of those techniques, you will not master the songs in this book. Even though the book introduces the techniques, the book focuses the techniques on a higher intermediate level then a beginner-basic level.

The songs are beautiful and enjoyable to listen.

I will write the table of contents from this book.

HASH(0x97b39a98) étoiles sur 5 WONDERFUL! 23 octobre 2014

This is marvelous. It should be used along with his El Arte Flamenco de La Guitarra (v.1&2). IMHO, Juan Martín's method is simply THE flamenco method to use (and I have all of the various flamenco method books). It's the best, period. I waited about a decade or so for this Video Series to come out in DVD. A Godsend! Get this and his El Arte Flamenco de La Guitarra (v.1&2, which is like the bible of flamenco). You're set! OUTSTANDING! (You won't believe your good luck if you compare it to what is out there!) He is a master who is smarter than he looks -- he knows not only how to play stunningly in the pure and true flamenco tradition BUT ALSO he knows how to teach beautifully! A rare combination. What a gem!

HASH(0x97b39f84) étoiles sur 5 This is a great book second only to having a live Flamenco Teacher 25 juin 2014

There is a saying that when the student is ready the teacher will appear. I had been using some other books that were not very good until I found this one. If you have already studied Flamenco guitar or have at least one year of classical guitar training under your belt, then this is the next best thing to a live Flamenco teacher.
