Publisher comments
Lambic(k)Land was an impossible book. Lambic beers may be the most remarkable and complex brews on the planet but no commercial publisher would consider producing a guidebook to such an obscure place on the back of its even more obscure local product. So we had to make our own publishing company. We were advised it would only be viable if we produced it in two languages, so the locals could understand it too. So we did. In the event we sold as many copies in Italy and Scandinavia as we did in Belgium. We reckoned that if we were really lucky we might just break even by printing and selling 800 copies but when we costed it that would have made a cover price of over £10.00 so we decided to produce 2000 instead and assumed we would be left with most of them. Now down to our last pack we will only releases these as collectibles. One day the profits will be ploughed into a second edition, probably English-language only, but not for some years yet.
