Note générale: 3,5/5
P.S Ce livre contient (énormément) de gros mots + le sexe assez explicite.

Jimmy is my favorite. There, I said it. From the moment I meet him in Lick.....I thought, now there is a man I want to get to know more. He has secrets. He has issues. He is an A-hole. He is sexy as sin. Totally my kind of man.

To say I was excited to read Lead is an understatement. I needed to peel Jimmy like an onion and see what was lurking beneath his expensive suits and death glares. But I needed help. Kylie Scott knew just the person. Lena Morrissey.

Lena is a no nonsense, don't take any crap from anyone kind of woman. Feisty and curvy and just who Jimmy needs to keep him in check. She is the rock that Jimmy desperately needs. The friend that he has never had.

In Lead, we learn just how broken Jimmy is. We learn about all the crap that he shielded David from. Even as an adult he tries to shield his brother from their money hungry, addicted mother. We begin to realize why Jimmy is such a jerk. It's easier to keep people at a distance rather then to let them in and hurt you. That is until Lena.

I LOVED that Jimmy and Lena went from barely tolerating each other to a friendship to lovers. I mean this is real life people! (winks). It was so funny to see that Jimmy had no clue that Lena was attracted to him.

"You're watching me all the time and it's f-ing creepy.I can't take it anymore."

I LOVED that when Lena started realizing that she was developing feelings for Jimmy she told him, and then he promptly told her that she was out of her mind and that there was no way she could like him that way.

"You'll get over this dumb crush you've got on me and I'll do us both the immense favor of forgetting this ever happened, okay?"

I LOVED that Lena was able to burrow her way under Jimmy's tough exterior to see the sweet, funny, caring A-hole that he really is, even if he does not see it in himself. Have I mentioned how incredibly HOT Jimmy is? How when Jimmy and Lena finally hook-up it is beyond orgasmic? How a certain singer really knows how to use his tongue. blushes

Okay, I LOVED everything about this book. I don't want to reveal to much.....but there is a lot of things going on in Lead. Dave & Ev make lots of appearances. Mal & Anne, along with killer, pop in quite a bit......and we even learn a more about Ben and his love interest. There is even a shirt that has deer boinking (even a threesome). I.KID.YOU.NOT.

If you are looking for a slow burning, friends turn lover story that has a smexy singer and a feisty strong woman that calls said singer on his sh*t.....then LEAD is perfect for you.

Lord. Have. Mercy.

Jimmy, you kill me.

I can say without a doubt Lead is my absolute favorite of the series. I love Jimmy even more than Mal, which I didn’t know was possible. *Sigh* Jimmy is hotness incarnate and completely owns my heart! I loooooved reading his story so very much. I wish it never ended–I finished this book in a day. I never thought I’d be loving Jimmy this much (he’s not exactly an easy character to like in the previous books) but it took me less than a day to fall in love with him. God I love this man so freaking hard!

If you’ve read the previous book, Play, then you already know who the heroine of Lead is. Lena is Jimmy’s live-in assistant, the one who’s paid to keep an eye on him at all times to make sure he doesn’t relapse since coming out of rehab. I adore Lena. She’s absolutely perfect–she’s fiesty, sassy, a total smart*ss, and the perfect match for Jimmy. She’s the one who can stand up to him, but also support him in every possible way. She’s absolutely hilarious too!

"Dark hair fell over his face and collar, framing the cheekbones of an angel but the jaw of a stubborn child. Every other discernible inch of him appeared to be fully grown male. The way he held his jaw, however … well.
And the man might be pretty, but he sure as hell wasn’t nice. I’d met enough not-nice men to know. Trust me to find him attractive.
So I frowned straight back at him.
His glare went up a notch.
I matched it."

Lena is tough-as-nails, and I loved every single interaction she had with Jimmy. They first and foremost become friends, which is honestly the best way for these two to start their relationship, because Jimmy definitely isn’t ready for something more–yet.

The two of them are together constantly, so it’s only inevitable that they’ll get on each other’s nerves. I love the banter between them, and how it only makes their friendship stronger. They make the best couple ever, even when they aren’t boyfriend/girlfriend. But the absolute best part about their relationship, what made me fall so hard for Jimmy and Lena’s story, is the slow burn romance between them. If you’re looking for something fast and hard, Lead isn’t the book for you. But I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect way for Lena and Jimmy’s romance to develop. The romance took a while to develop, but I felt it was the perfect pace for this couple–and just because it’s slow doesn’t mean it lacks in heat or intensity. Because HOLY HELL Jimmy and Lena set the pages on fire! There is so much chemistry between them that I was totally fanning myself while reading.

"“Lie back,” he said. The look in his eyes, the tension, it was hunger for me. Amazing. Tightly leashed by there just the same. I’d never seen such a beautiful sight in all my life."

Oh, Jimmy. Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy. I love this man so much. I think the fact that I didn’t expect to love him made me love him even more. Jimmy is kind of an unlikeable character–mainly, he’s a jerk. But he’s a jerk you can’t help but love. He’s a tortured soul who thinks he’s unworthy of anything good. He had to protect himself and his younger brother from their deadbeat mother, and he had to recover from his alcoholism and substance abuse. Lena is his only friend–she’s the only one who can get him to open up, to see that does deserve good things in his life.

“It’s like you’re his new drug of choice. Only you’re actually good for him.”

Being in such close proximity with Jimmy, of course Lena starts to develop romantic feelings for him.

"I wanted to know him, every last little thing about him. And I wanted him to know me. I wanted to be a real part of his life, not just his employee. To be the person he confided even his darkest thoughts in, the person he trusted."

Lena knows that Jimmy won’t reciprocate her feeling so she tries to ignore them, but they only grow stronger as each day passes. So she tries to quit her job, but Jimmy doesn’t want her to go. Jimmy tries to do whatever it takes to keep Lena in his life, even knowing that she deserves a something better.

The lead-up to a real relationship between these two was so incredible to read because I love the fact that Lena and Jimmy have a solid friendship to back it up with. Their friendship is the solid foundation that makes a relationship between them work. This is what I love most about friends-to-lovers romances, and Kylie Scott wrote the perfect friends-to-lovers romance with Lead–I just couldn’t get enough of Jimmy and Lena!

Fans of the series won’t be disappointed with Lead. It certainly has a different feel than Lick or Play–it’s more serious, and there’s that slow romance–but it still has that angst, humor, and tension that makes a Stage Dive book so perfect. And if you haven’t started reading the Stage Dive series yet, what the heck are you waiting for? It’s one of the best rocker series out there!

What is it about a-holes that draws me in?? I seriously don't understand it........weird huh!! This book for me has been the best in the series so far. I liked Lick, enjoyed Play more (seriously how funny is Mal!!) but loved Lead and I hate to say it but I feel like Lena outshone Jimmy, she is simply kick ass.

So what's it about.........

Well, Jimmy is a recovering addict and to help him stay sober the band and the record label believe a sobriety companion is a good idea to keep him on the straight and narrow, only problem, Jimmy hates everyone which makes it hard to hold someone to the job. Never fear though, you can always rely on Mal to sort stuff out (the Mal moments in this book are funny as all get up) and he does when he convinces the sexy and sassy Lena to take the job (which after she claps eyes on Jimmy wasn't hard to convince her anyway). From the get go the banter between Jimmy & Lena is EPIC and completely laugh out loud funny.

"Do you actually expect me to jump around like an idiot?"
"It would amuse me."
"Don't make me kill you at this hour of the morning, Jimmy. It's not civilized."

The relationship between these two is a slow burner, not another love at first sight type thing. They start out boss/employee and as Lena gets to see the fragile and caring parts of Jimmy he is so desperate to hide, her heart starts to soften towards him and they become friends until it gets taken to the next level and they become lovers.........the journey to get to that point is a goody.

These two bitch and snark at each other the entire time and because Jimmy doesn't feel deserving of a girl as fab as Lena he pushes her away time and time again. Even after she tells him straight up there are feelings involved for her. Jimmy believes he has the answer to help Lena get over her "crush" on him with a 4 stage program,

" other people, focus on your flaws, don’t be pathetic, and get a life, etcetera.”

but as time goes on and it's clear that her feelings aren't changing towards him he all of a sudden throws out stage #5 and LORD HAVE MERCY my jaw hit the table......I didn't see that coming when it did. Don't get me wrong I knew there would be sex.....hello, this is Kylie Scott we're talking about........but it just shocked me that it came about in the way it did and let me tell you Jimmy is the bomb in the sack.

"He hammered into me in a way that was pure art. Our bodies understood each other perfectly. The fit and feel of him marking inside, making me whole. Jimmy thrust into me hard and fast while I groaned in appreciation. F-k he could f-k."

As all good stories go, it's not all sunshine and rainbows from here on out but I suppose you'll just have to read it to find out what happened to Jimmy & Lena for yourself ;) Trust me it's worth the read!!

I want to praise Kylie Scott for writing a heroine like Lena. She is curvy, naturally beautiful and comfortable in her own skin. I think these days too many woman have esteem issues or get pushed around or dominated in books but it was such a breath of fresh air to see Lena stick up for herself, say what she feels and not take too much crap from Jimmy. She was sexy and sassy without being a a complete cow and I have to says she has to be one of my FAVE heroines to date.

BIG 4.5★ FROM ME :)

“Verbally sparring with Jimmy was fast becoming more fun than I’d had with most other men naked. Which was sad. Real sad.”

I’m actually shocked to say this, but I think this is my favorite of the Stage Dive Series…so far. David stole my heart in the first book and Mal made me laugh. But Jimmy? Oh, Jimmy. He surprised me most of all.

“He was such a dichotomy of good and evil, beautiful and bad.”

Jimmy is the sexy front man of Stage Dive. We got snippets of Jimmy’s character throughout the first two books and can easily conclude that he’s pretty much a jerk. He’s not a very easy person to be around, especially now that he’s trying to beat his drug and alcohol addiction. The one person who continuously stands up to him as well as supports him is his assistant Lena.

Lena didn’t know what to expect when she took on the job as Jimmy’s assistant, especially when the biggest part of her job is to be his sobriety companion. It’s not easy to keep your sanity when your boss is constantly a jerk, but Lena has lasted longer keeping Jimmy on the straight and narrow than any of his last assistants. But things get more complicated…

“Why not? I see it as a win-win situation. I get to release some of my frustration and you get to release any lingering feelings messing with your head. We f*, we see we don’t have chemistry, we move on. Or even better, everything falls apart like it normally does and you’re happy just going back to being friends. What do you say?” ~ Jimmy

When Lena starts developing feelings for Jimmy, she knows that she has to keep a safe distance, but Jimmy definitely doesn’t make it easy. Whether or not he wants to admit it, but Jimmy likes having her around. In a way, Lena keeps him grounded. Lena tries not to read into Jimmy’s reasoning as to why he wants her around, especially when he makes it perfectly clear that he doesn’t do love

“I’m sorry. I don’t want anybody else. You’re my everything, Lena. I’ve never felt this way about anyone. I need you to know that. You gotta understand that, okay?”
I just stared at him, transfixed.
“Say something,” her urged.
“Jimmy, that’s love.”

This book had a different feel than the first two books. It definitely had its hot and steamy moments, but I think this book had more of a story to it, if that makes any sense. I loved Jimmy and Lena. Jimmy was brooding, sexy, and had a soft spot for his curvy, smart and sexy assistant. But what made me a fan of this couple is that they developed their relationship first through respect, patience, understanding and friendship; making their connection a little more close. I loved these two!!

“I hate waking up without you and I worry constantly that you’re okay, that you’ve got everything you need. Look, the truth is, I’m all about you, Lena. You’re my best friend. You’re my girl.”

It pains me to have to rate this book at this score. I absolutely loved both Lick and Play, but for some reason this book fell short for me. I know I am probably in the minority, but I think the biggest problem I had was that I couldn't connect with Jimmy at all. I LOVED Lena!!!! She was such a great heroine (even though by the end I wanted to smack her a little bit), but I just never warmed up to Jimmy.

I thought the writing was still as fabulous as the other books in the series. I really love Kylie Scott's writing style. She knows how to develop both her story lines and characters. The flow and pace with this book was just like the other ones, nothing drag out for too long and the timeframe flowed well. I really enjoyed that in the beginning of the story it was running parallel to Play and the kind of just continued on with the story. We got to see the other characters in this book a lot and got to keep up with the other happy couples.

What I really had trouble with was how mean and unfriendly Jimmy really was. I didn't really like his character in Lick and I thought he was starting to turn around in Play and I thought he would redeem himself in Lead, but I have to say I was slightly disappointed because he wasn't redeemed at all. Now just because I didn't like Jimmy's character doesn't mean that others won't love him. His character just didn't work for me. With Jimmy being the way he was in this book really made the storyline go in a direction that I didn't prefer either. This book has some serious sexual tension and it took way too long for Lena and Jimmy to come together in this book. To me it made the ending seem rushed and that it was a little too far fetched. If I was Lena I would've kicked Jimmy's butt to the curb a long time ago.

Now Lena….she was an amazing character. She was strong and willful. Her only down side was that she fell in love with someone who was emotionally stunted. I have to say that Lena was probably one of my favorite heroines in a long time. She knew how to speak her mind and give just as good as she got. I will say that I wanted to smack her towards the end because I thought her behavior with Jimmy made her look weak and that just wasn't in her character. I'll be interested to see how Lena and Jimmy are in the 4th book…. Deep ( Ben's Story).

I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Kylie Scott's, and who loves a book that has a strong heroine with a bad a$$ Hero. If you are a fan of a book that is heavy on the sexual tension and aren't looking for the couple to be together for the majority of the book, then this is the book for you. Even though this one wasn't my favorite out of the series, I will continue on with the last book to see what happens with Ben and I will continue to read books by Kylie Scott. We can't love them all :)
