Présentation de l'éditeur

"We live in a time of darkness. Requiem lies cloaked in shadows. Tonight we say: We will fight. We will keep our light blazing."

A Legacy of Light (The Dragon War, Book One) -- a new fantasy trilogy for fans of A Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings

The people of Requiem, an ancient kingdom, can grow wings and scales, breathe fire, and take flight as dragons. For years, Requiem's holy stars have blessed the kingdom with light and magic. But now a darkness falls.

General Cadigus, traitor to the crown, has captured the throne. Bloodthirsty and cruel, he rules with an iron fist. He crushes his own people under his heel. He burns all foreign lands. The noble kingdom of Requiem fades; a dark empire rises.

In the wilderness, a small light kindles. Rebellion brews. The rebels are haggard, outnumbered, and desperate. They hide in forests and ruins. They fight for the memory of Old Requiem, for a legacy of light.

The Resistance is small, but its cry is loud: "The tyrant must fall."

5.0 étoiles sur 5 The Evil of Dragons 8 avril 2013

This was an absolute incredible story, the last couple of chapters had me entranced I could not stop reading and unfortunately it is over. Daniel Arenson continues to grow into one of the best Indy writers out there, between all of his dragon series I have to say this one so far is the best in my humble opinion. The thing that makes this book different is the evil comes from within Requiem, it is one thing to have to fight against other creatures but to have to fight other Vir Requis just makes the story much more intense. I love the new characters and some are quite brutal. If you are a fan of Daniel Arenson then you will love this book, if you have never read a book by Daniel Arenson than it is time to start. Enjoy.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a bit gory for me but I kind of skipped over as much as I could without missing too much. It was well written and I liked how the author did the chapters. You got to know the different people pretty well. I would recommend this series to others.

"Legacy of Light" is about the most inappropriate title I have ever read. It should be "Legacy of Torture, Brutality, Evil" or something like that. Yes, Aronson can write. The reader is subjected to page after page of impalement, being broken upon the wheel, decapitation, brutality, torture by electric "punishers", and on and on.

Screams abound, at least 125 times. And spitting about 50 times. Blood, pain, fear on every page (except the very beginning, which was quite promising). Whores, dogs, bastards is the common terminology for the recruits. There are 99 women in the phalanx (groups of 3); when they formed up, there was a hundredth girl. She was knifed, her throat cut, just because she was extra.

I tell you, a steady diet of torture, pain, violence is both boring and unpleasant, all 300 pages + of it. Kicks, stabbings, shoving swords up bottoms, I defy you to find a page without any such descriptions.

I recommend the book to teenage boys who have a lust for bloody violence, but I won't be reading any of the rest of the series.

I've read Songs of Dragons, Dragon lore and now Dragon Wars. In The first and second series you read about the great Vir Requis battling different nemesis' but with Dragon War you have Vir Requis fighting each other, friend against friend. Daniel's writing makes you feel for his characters. You laugh when they laugh you cry when they cry. Some say these books are too sad, too much death. But to me it shows the strength of the Vir Requis to keep going to keep enduring even when all looks to failure! Now excuse me I have to start reading the second book two of dragon wars!!

When Rune Brewer's best friend Tilla Roper is taken to be turned into a soldier for the current regime, along with all of those of age in the town of Cadport, he believes that the only thing for him is her own fate. To go when the time comes to be trained into a soldier. Well, he's right, but only halfway. His fate will lead him in a direction he never intended or even thought about going. His beliefs and who he believes himself to be will be challenged, and he will have to choose between working for a heartless ruler or working for a group which he has been taught is the enemy. But enemy for who is the question.

This book was amazing. The imagery and the battles and the separate chapters for all the characters set this apart from a lot of the fantasy books I have been reading lately. Each individual character has their own fight they must live through, whether it be the ones with evil intent or the ones with the best intentions or even the ones who are just trying to survive. Each has their own reasons for doing what they do. This aspect did not make me hate any one character, it just made me understand each one in their actions.

I kind of hated the ending. Not an I didn't enjoy it type of hate. But just the fact that it ended. I want to know more. I want to feel more of what these characters feel. I just want more. Luckily, though, this is just the first book and there is more to come.
