Maybe I'm too old 5 janvier 2014

... but I knew about three-quarters of the words and expressions. Hardly worth the price of the book. It is supposed to piggyback on the first "Let's Bring Back..." which WAS a delight of insight into the recent past.

Eh... 19 avril 2013

I really wanted to like this. Unfortunately as some other reviewers mentioned, most of the words are used in everyday conversation. I was hoping for some lost and delightful gems of words, but this is more of a 101 course in quaint phrases than a book for people who really want some strange and forgotten words.

Invaluable Asset to Witty Writers and Lovers of Lost Worlds (and dandy debauchery) 19 mars 2013

Ever since I ordered this book I have been at my desk like Agnes Gooch cackling at the amazing stories, thoughts, ideas and phrases Ms. LMMB has tirelessly scoured the Earth (and numerous bars) to share with us.

As a writer for The New York Times, Style.com, Huffington Post, Vanity Fair and others I am always looking for just the right bon mot to send my stories to the next level and thanks to this book I find many that cause my editors to have a proper 'Knees-Up' when I turn in my pieces.

BRAVO a MUST have for all writers especially young ones (esp those 13 years old and from the Valley) who think LMAO and TTYL are the bees knees.

I recently went bananas and bought piles of them for hostess gifts when I visit my friends country homes in England and America- It's the new PG Wodehouse everyone is going crackers for.

Tiresome. 23 juin 2015

No need to bring them back, most of these are already here. Unless you have been deprived of all reading matter since birth, most of these
words and phrases are familiar to us today. Rather dull and charmless book. Glad it was free.

Wonderful! 19 mars 2013

I adored this book! It is a delight to every sense (yes even smell because the words so are evocative at times you can almost smell them!)
I love the irony, wit and thought that the author has put it into this and I am filled now with wonderful words that I can't wait to have the opportunity to use. It is engaging and makes language the intriguing and fun subject it should be. A feel good package of delight perfect as a gift and to have on hand for those great moments when you are searching for the perfect word and get the satisfaction of finding it. Love it!
