Présentation de l'éditeur

Take your sales to the next level! The author of the award-winning, bestselling Let's Get Digital is back with an advanced guide for more experienced self-publishers.

There are over 3 million books in the Kindle Store, with thousands more added every day. How do you get yours noticed? Visibility isn't a challenge that can be bested once - it requires continual work. But there are tools and strategies to do much of the heavy lifting for you.

In Let's Get Visible: How To Get Noticed And Sell More Books, you'll discover how to:

* Leverage Amazon's famous recommendation engine to take advantage of the various opportunities it provides for exposure
* Position your books for discoverability on other sales venues
* Minimize the time you spend promoting so you have more time to spend writing
* Promote in a cost-effective way that actually works

By using these tips, you will get your book noticed. And getting noticed is the key to growing your sales.

"Let's Get Visible is the best tool I have discovered for a writer to push sales and visibility to the next level, and an indispensable addition to the library of any indie writer. If you're an indie writer and you're not buying this book, you simply aren't playing this game to win."--Michael Wallace, USA Today & Wall Street Journal bestselling author of The Righteous.

"Gaughran distills complex subject matter and explains it in a way that anybody can easily understand, and takes the guesswork out of promotion at Amazon. He removes the mysticism and gets you as close as anyone outside of Amazon will probably be to understanding how stuff works behind the curtain."--David Wright, bestselling author of Yesterday's Gone.

"If you are a self-publisher looking to improve your ability to get eyeballs on your books, I can't recommend this title highly enough. The book contains many ideas I've used successfully and several I'm now excited to try."--Cidney Swanson, bestselling author of Saving Mars.

"Let's Get Visible offers a precise understanding of Amazon's systems and a real strategy authors can use to improve performance. An invaluable resource."--Jason Letts, bestselling author of Inevitable.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 In a sea of pretenders, Gaughran is a true champion for writers! 11 mai 2013

It seems you can't swing a bag of snake oil without hitting a book from some dubious info marketers offering you their latest "secret to Amazon riches!" or some other ethically challenged book telling you how to lie and cheat your way to "success."

THIS is not that book. And Gaughran is NOT some unknown looking to cash in on the insecurities and hopes of desperate writers.

Gaughran has spent the past couple of years championing the indie writer at his blog, sharing what he's learned (in his own experience and from those in his valuable community). He shares his successes and failures. He also routinely exposes predatory schemes by big publishers and others looking to take advantage of writers. In other words, Gaughran is a writer who tells it like it is, is unafraid of the establishment, and whom you can trust to guide you on your path.

Let's Get Visible is the book I wish I knew about a year ago. It is THAT informative and helpful.

Now, that being said, if you're brand new to writing, stop right now and go get his prior self-publishing book, Let's Get Digital: How To Self-Publish, And Why You Should (Let's Get Publishing), one of the best books on the basics of self-publishing you'll find.

After you've read that, and know how to put your best book out there, Let's Get Visible will help you actually sell your book in an ever-increasing competitive marketplace.

Let's Get Visible breaks down Amazon's confusing algorithms in a way that finally makes sense! If you're confused by what the various lists at Amazon means and how they impact your sales, you MUST read this book.

If you're confused on what to price your book, or wondering about the dwindling value of free promotions, then you MUST read this book.

If you want your book to actually be found in searches, or are wondering why choosing your genre correctly can make all the difference in the world in terms of sales, then you MUST read this book.

Wondering if you should still take part in KDP Select, and what it does (and doesn't do) for you? Then you MUST read this book.

Wondering how to launch your book, and why the 30 days following your book launch are so important? Then you MUST, well, you know...

Gaughran distills complex subject matter and explains it in a way that anybody can easily understand, and takes the guesswork out of promotion at Amazon. He removes the mysticism and gets you as close as anyone outside of Amazon will probably be to understanding how stuff works behind the curtain.

Gaughran also cites his influences and the writers whose experimentations have helped him gain his knowledge, and also lets you know that nothing is static in the world of Amazon. What works now, could, and most likely WILL change. However, Let's Get Visible will give you the information you need to be prepared for whatever comes next in this brave new world of indie publishing. And you can count on Gaughran, and his helpful blog, Let's Get Digitial, to be there for whatever's next.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Only partially useful to Erotica/Romance Writers 13 mai 2013

I am sure that this book will prove very valuable to most digital authors, however I have to add a caveat: if you are primarily a writer of erotica, romance or shorter works of any kind, most of the advice here will not apply to your work. A great deal of talk is devoted to ENT, Bookbub and POI. Each promotion venue poses unique problems for authors of any of the types of works I have mentioned. ENT will not take anything with explicit sexual content, Bookbub has length restrictions as does POI. Also, all three have some pretty heavy requirements for reviews. The second area where "Let's Get Visible" fails the author of romance and erotica (and all the shades in between) is the discussion of categories. A romance doesn't lend itself (except under rare circumstances) to finding a small niche that can be exploited to the book's benefit. Romance and erotica tend to fall into very definite categories and there's no fudging about it.

All that being said, there were nuggets of information in the book that I will certainly use and I don't feel at all ripped off. I just wish SOMEONE would address the unique marketing challenges writers of erotic romance, erotica and the 'New Adult' books that are so popular today.

Writers outside of the genres I have been discussing should certainly benefit from what this book has to say. It was well written and easy to read.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Finally, marketing strategies that are ethical as well as practical 10 mai 2013

This book is a breath of fresh air for authors who are trying to up their game and sell more books on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Apple, and a great follow up from Gaughran's earlier, Let's Get Digital.

Like a lot of other writers, I've downloaded other ebooks (some by famous authors) that promise to increase my book sales or marketing efforts but then leave a bad taste in my mouth when I find out they want me to tweet incessantly or engage in activities I feel are gaming the system or that aren't ethical. Let's Get Visible is NOT one of those books. (Hooray for that!)

It shows you how to use clever launch and pricing strategies to make the most of Amazon's algorithms and keep your book buoyant in the charts, all while spending minimal time promoting and not having to engage in suspect behaviour to see a return on your time and $$ investment.

Readers of Gaughran's blog will appreciate that it is written in the same matter-of-fact, easy-to-read and humble style. Gaughran is not the kind to do anything other than call a spade a spade. It is also split into digestible parts that deal with algorithms, category changes, free matching and the likes. The big reader and advertising sites are covered too, but only those that the author has vetted and determined show a return on investment.

It's not a "get rich quick" book, but it is EXCELLENT for those who recognise that a slow and steady rise up the charts can be a better long-term strategy for self-publishing success than spamming the heck out of everyone you know. It's already earned a place, alongside Let's Get Digital, as one of the most important ebooks I've bought relating to indie publishing. One for the contemplative Authorpreneur, for sure!

If you are a self-publisher looking to improve your ability to get eyeballs on your books, I can't recommend this title highly enough. Gaughran presents sensible, actionable ideas in this pithy read. As a bonus, his prose is easy on the ears. Or, you know, brain. The book contains many ideas I've used successfully and several I'm now excited to try.

It's worth mentioning that this title is going to be most useful to someone who has already had the chance to dip their toes in the self-pubbing pond. If you are just getting started or if you are only considering whether or not to self-publish, you might want to read his other title, LET'S GET DIGITAL first, as this one contains some more advanced information.

This book does a great job of explaining how the Amazon sales, popularity, etc. lists work. It's probably worth it for that alone.

I was disappointed by the author's dismissal of other sites -- maybe it's justified, but I still would have liked to see more.

As someone who only has one little practice novella on the market, but a couple of projects in the pipeline, I wanted to see more in the book launch section. I think he should have covered how to get advance reviews and at least something about pre-release marketing. Obviously, it's not a thing he does, but it's an important enough part of traditional (and current!) book promotion that I was unpleasantly surprised that he didn't even mention it as a possibility.
