Descriptions du produit

Sex remains one of the least comfortable - and thus least discussed - topics between parents and children. Even the most enlightened parent can get queasy at the prospect of "the talk," despite its importance in helping youngsters become well-informed teens and responsible adults. Let's Talk About S-E-X is a short, illustrated book that parent and child can sit down and read together. First created by Planned Parenthood in the 1980s, and taking a simple, factual approach to the subject, the book makes that crucial conversation possible and even enjoyable by encouraging open dialogue; offering clear, correct information; and giving strategies for age-appropriate discussions that neither judge nor frighten. The book discusses feelings, what's normal, how and why the body changes, making sense of love and sex, STDs, and much more. The simple language and illustrations invite young readers to revisit the information if they have not absorbed it all in one sitting.

Great augmentation to discussions with younger kids 26 janvier 2009
Par Shelley Cadamy - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
I bought this after my 9-year-old and I had to begun discussing sex, body changes, self-esteem issues, etc. I would never hand a kid a book as a total strategy for sex education, but this book has been wonderful to augment the discussions we've had and allows my daughter to have some control over the whole process. She grabs it and reads it when she wants to learn more but doesn't feel like asking me, or just wants some private time. I also like that it's written for her age group - quite a few of the books I researched were at too sophisticated a learning/content level for her. Overall, I'm really pleased with this choice.

Put this in your library! 13 juin 2010

This book addresses a very wide variety of subjects that are important to share with your changing child. Not too much information for them to take in and it is written in a positive way that encourages children to share their concerns and thoughts with their parents.

If you want smart, responsible kids instead of denial! 5 août 2014

The BEST book ever if you want to talk to your kids about sex. All you have to do is read! Don't let the Planned Parenthood label scare you away (conservative folk) they don't endorse prostitution or abortions. All about INFORMATION and let me tell you -- states that teach abstinence only education have some of the highest teen pregnancy rates around.

This book -- discourages teen pregnancy by giving facts! Kids are smarter than you think and trying to snow them with just don't do it -- clearly doesn't work. They do it! Of course, not all of them.

This book leads children in the direction that sex is a big deal, not something to play around with (although it feels great in the right relationship)

This also gives great info on puberty too!

Too Graphic 26 novembre 2012

Started reading this book with my 9 y/o daughter, and I have to say... waaaaay too graphic on their descriptions for ANY 9 year old child. Personally, I will read/use this book in the future, but not for a few more years, probably starting at 12, I guess it really depends on how "innocent" the targeted child is.
It is an excellent informative book, dont get discourage by my silly review, but be sure to read the book yourself (an adult) before allowing the minor to take a peek.

Cheers :)

Good Start 4 décembre 2011

I ordered this book to have "the talk" with my daughter. Some parts were WAY over her head at the age of 9, but it's good because it talks about changes in the body and what she might be feeling. It's got a section for males and females, so we obviously skipped the male part for the time being. We will go back and review in a year or so, but do not recommend for under the age of 9.
