I'm a very practical person, and I care most about the stories in this set, rather than the collectibles and art (I'll cover that part later in my review). The stories themselves have a number of flaws, and seem to have been edited rather hastily. The art, chest, and collectibles are enjoyable, and definitely the stronger aspect of this set.

For older fans, the stories may or may not be somewhat disappointing. The writing is about middle-school level (which is pretty good considering the target audience). At times it is difficult to understand exactly what the author is trying to describe due to poor wording. It is certainly fun to watch our favorite adventure-pony kick butt, though for a supposed professional, Daring Do often misses simple clues or makes rookie mistakes. There were a number of times that I couldn't help but feel the author missed interesting story opportunities, opting instead for overly simplistic and direct conflict resolution. I didn't expect Tolkien-level writing when buying these, but the lost potential is at times distracting.

I'd like to highlight one particular issue I had with this set: The third book appears to have been cut short. The story (no spoilers) spends a lot of time setting the scene, hinting at potential conflicts and villains, only to suddenly cut the story short in the ending pages. It feels as though that book in particular should have been 50-100% longer, and was cut short due to either time or page count. Daring Do goes from "captured and planning" to "escaped and everything is ok" within *three paragraphs.* That's just ridiculous, not to mention the lost potential of 2-3 villains that were hinted at, but never actually appeared. With that being the final of the three books, it left a sour aftertaste that has tainted my view of the whole set. It does sound like they plan to make some sequels though. Hopefully they release them as individual books so they get better attention and editing.

Don't think that I have nothing good to say about the set. After all the complaints above, let's cover some of the positive aspects. First off, despite the issues with the writing, it was still a fun read overall. The books just need more attention from an editor to bring out their full potential. The set itself is well-presented. The books are sturdy, and the cover art looks great with a lot of detail. The chests itself has a nice design, and is also well-made. It would look great on a shelf. The contents all fit snugly inside. The Daring Do figurine is a rather dull 'gold,' so it's a little underwhelming, but not a bad addition to one's collection, though it lacks any eyes as there is no painting on it.

Overall, if you're looking for a pretty collection you can look at or show off to friends, you'll like this set. If you're more interested in finally reading a real "Daring Do Adventures" book, you'll probably find yourself disappointed to some degree, depending on your expectations.

I am an avid female brony, mid twenties. This product has an amazing appearance. Hardcover, sturdy, professional looking books with cute covers. The figure is nice, blind bag sized. Worth buying? To me, yes. $75 is steep though. I feel like it should be half that. I don't know if it would be worth it to every brony or younger my little pony fan. They are middle school reading level, which is fine, but the actual stories are not that great. The writing is pretty amateur. The descriptors are not very clear, and sometimes while reading I could not visualize what the author was trying to get across. It was more like a fun read that I would not try to take seriously, since they are novels about cartoon ponies anyway.

A great trio of G.M. Berrow books from Hasbro My Little Pony universe staring A.K. Yearling character of Daring Do. Books so go that it makes pony fans wish the other Daring Do titles listed inside page would of been turn into real books as well. While the Treasure Chest box was great idea in appearance my only regret is space it took up that I couldn't put it with other keep sake books on a book self.

First book in the Thief of Marapore is a fast pace exciting adventure with Daring Do getting a gift from a mysterious strange that shows up at her forest cottage that a request for help in a village dealing with stolen relics and needing a champion to help them find the thief among them.

The 2nd book The Eternity Flower has Daring Do more well known villians from the Friendship is Magic TV series and have a much expect Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade theme to the plot. While Indy went to rescue his dad from Nazis in the movie Daring Do try to rescue her Uncle from her enemies. Just as Indy enemies wanted the cup of Christ for Eternal live so does Daring Do enemies want to be led to the Eternity Flower to live flower.

Final book has Daring Do talk into trying to find the treasure of a cloud city she never knew existed until told by her old teacher Ravenhoof a stallion who talk about in all three books adding to the richness of the MLP universe with many new characters and a previously unknown culture and artifacts. Could Daring Do be the guardian the cloud city legends have been waiting to show up?

While on the plain side compared to what seen in stores for other characters this set also comes with a encased Daring Do figure which box is dressed up in the chest like a fourth book in appearance.
