Biographie de l'auteur

As a teenager, Melbourne-born Carolyn Bain spent a year living smack in the heart of Jutland, and today speaks (often mangled) Danish with a jysk (Jutlandish) accent, according to those who know such things. Since her year among the Danes, Carolyn has frequently returned to dose up on history, hospitality and hygge, and she drops in while updating guidebooks to various parts of northern Europe (including Sweden and Estonia). She also covered Jutland for the previous edition of this title. As with every Denmark visit, on this trip she was in heaven revisiting favourite haunts such as Skagen and Ribe, coveting designer chairs, rummaging in flea markets and lingering over brunch plates. As a fan of modernist furniture, locavore menus, and cycle-toned bodies, Cristian Bonetto's lust for Denmark was fate. Since his first visit in 2003, the reformed soap scribe has developed a chronic obsession with the country's enlightened attitudes and creative edge. His musings on all things Danish have appeared in Lonely Planet's Copenhagen Encounter and Scandinavia guides, as well as in numerous magazines across the globe. When he's not nibbling on wood sorrel, peddling across Mon, or downloading Alphabeat songs, chances are you'll find Cristian cool-hunting in his other favourite haunts - New York, Naples and his beloved hometown, Melbourne. Journalist and author Andrew Stonefirst visited Denmark in the late 1990s to see friends who had settled there and has been back almost every year since for work and pleasure. In his time he has explored most of the country while researching the previous two editions of this title as well as three editions of Lonely Planet's Scandinavia.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Not as good as the Rough Guides 28 juin 2014

We used this on a recent trip to Copenhagen. The book was okay in terms of recommendations but lacked a certain charm and structure. Admittedly we should have bought a guide to Copenhagen and that probably would have been more detailed. It isn't a bad book but we ended up not using it most of the time.

I haven't read the paper version of this book so I can't comment on that. I bought the Kindle version hoping for a good experience but was sorely disappointed. So much could be done with an e book travel guide with links and photos or even video but none of that really happens here. Mostly text with some illustrations. The maps are abysmal, really horrible. Navigation within the book is difficult. I really can't recommend it.

This review is for the Kindle version of the 2012 LP Denmark guidebook.

The Kindle versions of our beloved LP guidebooks have been long overdue for improvements! This Kindle version is easier to navigate and more pleasing to the eyes. It's not perfect, but hopefully more refinements will come with time.

I purchased three Denmark guidebooks, and this was my go-to guide at almost every turn.

I am still reading it, but I am loving it so far. Detailed and practical information. The writers have been actually there, in each city, each little town, and make recommendations, what to do, what not to do, which sites are worth a ride, and which are a waste of time...very practical.

This guidebook was terrible, just terrible. It wasn't shocking that when I read the bios of the authors that they had barely visited Denmark -- just a bunch of young Australians. They missed tons of stuff. The section for kids was basically useless and they *completely* missed (not even a word) about the Fredericksberg Have which is an amazing and massive park in the middle of the city. The whole book was completely useless and a waste of money. I won't buy Lonely Planet again.
