Sympathique comic signé Hans Rodionoff et Joel Gomez, "Reign of Frogs" permet d'apporter des réponses à certaines questions laissées en suspens entre "Génération Perdue" et ses suites... Très bonne idée d'avoir choisi la BD comme support, les frères Frog (chasseurs de vampires attitrés de la saga) tenant une boutique de comics dans le premier film.
Toutefois, cette BD échoue à retranscrire fidèlement l'univers de Schumacher, notamment au niveau de l'humour, très peu présent, et de certains personnages physiquement opposés aux acteurs originaux. L'hommage est bien là, les éléments clefs aussi, mais l'ambiance reste très éloignée de ce que laissait apparaître "Génération Perdue". Le tout se laisse cependant lire sans déplaisir… Avant de revenir au chef-d’œuvre de Schumacher, l'un des plus grands films de vampires jamais vu, tour à tour angoissant, moderne et déjanté.

The Lost Boys is, without a doubt, one of my favorite films. I knew of the existence of this mini series since before The Tribe was released on DVD, but avoided it as a result of my distaste for the sequel. In hindsight, I should have kept my money.
Reign of Frogs takes place between the first two films and does a lot to leave you extremely unsatisfied. Not only does this create more plot holes than it fills, it leaves on a complete cliffhanger that has yet to be, and probably never will be, finished. Not to mention the writer feels it is very clever to lift lines of dialogue from the first film and reference three songs from the soundtrack by name, as he does in the script for The Tribe.
If you are a fan of The Lost Boys, skip this and The Tribe. As the third film in the series, The Thirst, makes both of them irrelevant.

Call me a Lost Boys junkie, but I absolutely loved reading through this comic. Even if everything's not spot on and up to code, who cares it's creative and it's well thought out and it's a whole lot better than the sequel! Which this book inevitably works it's way up to.
Any questions, inquiries you had after the movie ended are answered here. Or at least a good portion of them. Add some good Frog Brother's humor and you've got a good comic to sit down and read. I still can't stop reading it haha, which they'd made this into a movie!

Intended as a bridge between the much-loved cult film "The Lost Boys" and its horrendous direct-to-dvd sequel "The Tribe," the first sign that "Reign of Frogs" will lean more toward the latter is the fact that both possess the same writer, Hans Rodionoff. No, the comic is not as bad as "The Tribe," not by far, but it feels almost as unnecessary.
The art is deliberately cartoonish, which is not without its charms and certainly fits the tongue-in-cheek tone of the book, but it is often difficult to tell the three main characters apart, even when they're standing together. The dialogue sparkles on occasion, but the story, involving Sam's Grandpa and the Widow Johnson, isn't particularly compelling. Yes, you do get to see how Alan becomes a vampire, but, sadly, it is a bit of a let-down.
If you're looking to get a bit of that sequel-induced distaste out of your mouth, this isn't a total loss. If, however, you're looking for a comedic horror romp similar to the first film, you're likely to be very disappointed.
