Michele PW has written an eminently practical and positively engaging CALL TO ACTION to bring more LOVE into the words that we use as entrepreneurs to lay out the journey that we are able to help our clients take from the pain they are in to the place they are dreaming of being.

For years I myself refused to write copy - especially long form sales pages - because the only examples I had were all based in fear, exaggeration, false urgency, guilting and shaming. As a medicine person and heart centered entrepreneur I just couldn't do that - so I chose instead to use speaking as my primary means of attracting and converting clients.

After reading Michele's book (and also having experienced being on the "ideal prospect" end of some of the copy that she's helped her clients to write) - I am breathing a HUGE SIGH of relief and giving serious thought to adjusting my marketing strategy!!

Michelle's book appears to be a long sales letter for her services. If you are looking for the absolute basics of what a sales letter is, you can start here. There are much better starting points.

I'm sorry but this is book is weak. I suppose that if you are young and just thinking about direct marketing then you will get some basic ideas - decide on your ideal client, use their pain in a positive way, tell the truth, focus on benefits and solutions that are meaningful, etc - but the book states that it is designed to help both beginners and "advanced entrepreneurs" (I consider myself an experienced business person).
I cannot imagine any advanced entrepreneur getting anything from it that hasn't already been covered in much more valuable ways by the copywriting experts such as Dan Kennedy, Frank Kern, etc. She does, rightly, say that copywriting is a sales process (my paraphrase) but writers such as Neil Rackham and Tony Gillen have covered the real meat of the subject - that this author merely references in passing, almost.
Perhaps if this were a 99 cent pamphlet to introduce readers to her other products I'd not be as concerned but to charge $2.99 for it and to have it promoted as something special and new is just not on, I'm afraid.
Sorry but it was a real let-down.

What I like about this quick read book is that Michele provides an alternative model to the hyped-up, over the top copy that is so often prevalent online. She proposes toning it down and coming at it from a different energy, and goes further to explain WHY she thinks her idea has merit and can work for businesses who are willing to try it. This alone is refreshing to read. I like that Michele reminds us "there's a difference between pain and fear." I also like the metaphors she uses for common online marketing phrases - particularly helpful to people new to the online world. And lastly, Michele is generous with actual examples of copy which is very helpful for those who try their inexperienced hand at writing their own copy. All in all this book is clear and helpful to newbies and a solid reminder to those more experienced not to sell out to hype. I can teach from this book, and I can learn from it, as well.

There is a very important point of emancipation in this book that I hope everyone who has to write web copy will dig in and hear on a deep level, and it's this: Marketing can be done from the heart, from a place of genuine love for our clients, even down to the deadlines, calls-to-action, the optin invitations and email autoresponders. It's been decades since this kind of copywriting has been taught in countless hard-core ways solely to 'create a sale' no matter what. This book changes that. It takes the strengths of direct marketing and gives us the vision and smarts with which to use these powers for good.
