Inoubliable héros masculin! Beaucoup d'humour dans les dialogues entre les deux principaux intéressés. Je déplore quand-même un trop grand nombre de fautes de frappe qui entravent la lecture. Je recommande ce livre et cet auteur!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Amazing new adult romance 7 janvier 2014
Par Michelle@Book Briefs - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Format Kindle
2014 is off to a great book start! I loved Love Show. This book is everything that I love in the New Adult contemporary romance genre. It has great characters that you can connect with, a smoking romance, and a plot that you will not be able to get enough of. I could not put this book down. I stayed up until after 4 am reading it.

Hadley appears to be your typical straight laced, type A over-achiever, rigid perfectionist. I say that with love, because there may or may not be one or two people who would have said something very similar about me at some point. She has goal oriented tunnel vision. She is editor-in-chief of her school newspaper, and all she wants in life is to become a big time, serious war journalist. And she isn't looking for any distractions, but with a little help from her roommate, she lets loose just for a second and she meets Jack. And that is pretty much all it takes.

I loved how much Jack got under Hadley's skin. Even when she wasn't sure she liked him, he had her acting like the typically girl who was crushing. She even facebook stalked him. It was cute, because it wasn't fitting with her initial persona at all. And she is still very much a serious student after they meet up again, but there is also a love story kind of sneaking its' way into both of their hearts. As much as Hadley didn't want to admit it.

I loved the relationship between Jack and Hadley. Even though it was called friends with benefits and even though Hadley had a ton of rules for Jack to follow, you got to see the two of them really getting to know each other. They became great friends. They became part of each others lives. Hadley seemed like the guy out of the two of them. Jack was the one with feelings. I just loved seeing him in the more typical "girl" role. I'm not sure that makes sense, but I just loved the dynamic between the two of them. It made the whole story. They were like magic.

Love Show was not just 100% about Jack and Hadley. There was also the sub plot of Hadley's roommate. I liked that storyline too, but it was very secondary to the main relationship in my eyes. In the book, it played a pretty important role, but it still was able to take back stage for me. The only little snag I was able to find, was that once or twice little details were missing. For example, Hadley said at one point that she didn't want a relationship and then she was the one making things "exclusive" between her and Jack, and I had to go back an few pages because I was sure I missed something. And then Jack made an exclusive joke and it just seemed to be something both of them knew, but I couldn't find a reference to. But like I said, I am really stretching to come up with that. It was the only inconsistency that I could find, and it was just a tiny little thing. Love Show is a fantastic New Adult romance that will leave you happy, sad, swooning, smiling, and awh-ing throughout it all. I just loved this book. I would recommend it to everyone.

*disclaimer- I got a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest thoughts. I was not compensated for my review.

So...

I don't really know what to say about this one. I came to read it through a rec from an author I really like. I'd hoped to get those same fuzzy feelings I'd gotten from her book, but, alas...

I just really didn't like this book. For the first, oh, 70% I could not stand the heroine. Like, at all. There was just...nothing that connected me to her.

Hadley is described as "strong and career-driven." She is career-driven (though I'd really classify it as more obsessed than driven), but I did not feel like she was strong. Quite the contrary, actually. She was extremely selfish and even at times cruel. She only ever thought about herself and her goals. It isn't often that I so passionately dislike a character in a story, but Hadley? Yeah. Total dislike.

Jack was okay. I liked him better than Hadley, but, up until they end, I didn't really feel much of a connection with him either. I didn't understand why he liked Hadley. She wouldn't formally date him. Wouldn't acknowledge she was even seeing him. But she'd screw him whenever she had the urge. He had a couple of swoony moments, but Hadley's total disregard for him pretty much ruined those for me.

It was obvious from the beginning that Jack had feelings for her, but she never let herself see it. I just wanted to slap her upside the head and tell her to break their stupid "friends with benefits" deal off because it was soooooo in your face that Jack wanted more.

The writing in this was...not for me. Very simple, almost no description of anything. Now, I'm not one for an excess of physical description, but I do like emotional description. There was practically zip of either. I swear this was 80% dialogue. It probably didn't help matters that we were only in Hadley's head when I didn't like her much.

This needed some editing. There were quite a few misspellings, grammar faux pas, and numerous typos.

I don't know. Maybe some of you will enjoy this, but if you tend to like what I like, I don't think this would be a book for you either.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Angst-Filled College Romance That Deals With Real World Issues 10 janvier 2014

Rating: 4.5 stars

I am sitting here with a huge smile on my face. This book is exactly the kind of book that I love – angst-filled, yet romantic. I adored this book. Audrey took two people who knew exactly what they didn’t want in their life and gave them exactly that. This is a book about taking risks and understanding that not everything is black and white.

Hadley is the quintessential over-achiever – editor of the college newspaper with her eyes on a career in international combat journalism – with no time for anything else. Until her best friend and roommate forces her to try and have some fun during the last few months of their senior year. So with a little liquid courage, she finds herself in the arms of a handsome stranger in the middle of the rain. Swoon… Honestly I think any kiss that happens in the rain is guaranteed hotness – I think it should be a rule.

Enter stranger. Jack Diamond. Him and his plaid shirts got me every time. You may be eye rolling when you read the word “plaid” but trust me…this man is hot but not in an in-you-face type of way. He’s more of an undercover hottie. Anyways Jack is the complete opposite of Hadley. He is lazy, he doesn’t give much thought to his future. He isn’t career-driven nor does he even know what type of career he wants. Before you judge him, know that he is extremely intelligent and well read. He just laid back.

Hadley was a unique one. After watching her mother fall in love so many times she lost count, she’s decided she doesn’t have time for love nor does she even want it. So when her and Jack share this mutual attraction, she sets rules. No dinner, no dates, no pet names, no sleep overs, no falling in love – friends with benefits. And Jack, being the laid back guy that he is, agrees.

Until feelings get involved. I think you can see where I’m going with this. As predictable as it may sound, the turn of events actually surprised me. Hadley and Jack fall deeper and deeper into whatever it is they have. I would’ve predicted that Hadley would put up all these walls and there’d be no communication, but I was wrong. I actually loved how these two actually communicated with one another and were brutally honest as well. I also loved how Hadley let herself start feeling for Jack (even though she was in denial about it). From an outsider they were a couple. I loved when they were together. Jack brought her out of her shell. She laughed, she took risks, she had fun. And Hadley centered Jack. She gave him something to focus on something to want. She gave him purpose.

And then things got interesting. Remember I said she was career-driven and wanted to go into combat journalism?!? Well that is a huge plot point and this is where their pasts start creeping in and affecting their relationship. This is where the book started getting real – meaning that real life issues started presenting themselves and testing them. There was heartbreak. There were tears. There was sadness. But it was all so very necessary.

I love books that make me fall in love with the main characters, yet make me want to fight for them to be together. I love books that focus on realistic relationship problems rather than outside trivial factors. This is the second book of Audrey’s that I’ve read and I am officially a huge fan of hers! If I could change anything in this book, I think the only thing I would want is an epilogue. But that’s because I’m greedy. Shrugs…at least I’m being honest. But seriously, I highly recommend you read this book – I LOVED it!

Love Show Audrey Bell
Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.
I saw this book, read the sample and was hooked. Sometimes after the sample the story goes downhill, but not here, it just gets better and better.
Hadley is an overachiever and against relationships, having seen her parents divorce and remarry numerous times. She's decided its career only for her. Then she meets Jack, and he's her opposite – totally laid back, unambitious, in fact he has no idea what's going to happen next in his life. He really is a go with the flow man, so when Hadley proposes a friends with benefits stance, after she tells him why she won't date he accepts. He's convinced somewhere there must be a downside, no dates, no dinners, no flowers, or any of the usual boy/girl stuff, just lots and lots of hot erotic sex. And it is hot, sensual, sexy, they really steam when they are together. I loved them and the way Jack gradually insinuates himself into Hadley's world, without either of them really noticing. We just know that its going to end up more then either of them envisaged. When we learn more about them we see that their positions are shaped by the past, and Jack especially has some pretty horrific stuff happen.
I liked Hadley's flatmate too, David. Gay and proud of it, he had escaped from his small town, bigoted background and was a real friend to Hadley. It was him that dared Hadley to kiss someone at the tailgate which let to her meeting Jack. There's a secondary storyline about homophobia, and the problems of being gay. David has a boyfriend who isn't out, is a football jock, and insists they keep their relationship totally secret. He’s a homophobe in public, ignores David, goes out with girls and yet insists David change for him, cut his hair, dress more conservatively, not go out with his gay friends, and then there are incidents where he gets violent. Poor David, its one of those where you can tell it isn't going to work but he is convinced its love :( Its a very real story both from the Not Out part, and the dangers that poses to a relationship, and the violence which can happen in any partnership. There's good things happen to David too thankfully, as you just can't help loving him and wanting something nice for him, but I would have liked to know more about what happened to Ben in the end.
When University ends and they go off to their respective plans I was moved to tears, Yep, you know how I love that, a story that has that much emotion and drama, and it didn't stop there. Poor Hadley, there were harrowing stories from her reporting job, she was thrown in at the deep end and saw much more than she's anticipated.
So, a fabulous book, full of people who felt real, who I could understand and feel for, and wrapped up in a terrific plot with deep emotions, dark, long lasting dramas and then the sweetest of highs. Its priced at just £2.05 for 354 pages, and if you're looking for a well written and plotted story with plenty of emotion and drama this book is for you
Stars: Five, and one for the keepers file to be re read.

I loved this book! Hadley reminds me of myself when it comes to relationships for no strings attached and no emotional connection, so I was able to relate to her in so many ways. Jack is a force to be reckoned with. I don’t think I’ve met a guy in my life who is as patient as he is with Hadley. Big brownie points in my book. Jack flips Hadley’s world upside down even though she tries to fight it, and that made this book that much more interesting to me. The situations are so easy to relate to and you know exactly what each character is feeling without having to play the guessing game. Love love love this book. Definitely a book everyone should read. You will not be disappointed.
