Présentation de l'éditeur

**Top 100 Amazon Bestseller**

To Whom it May Concern,

It was easy to call us forbidden and harder to call us soulmates. Yet I believed we were both. Forbidden soulmates.

When I arrived to Edgewood, Wisconsin I didn’t plan to find him. I didn't plan to stumble into Joe's bar and have Daniel's music stir up my emotions. I had no clue that his voice would make my hurts forget their own sorrow. I had no idea that my happiness would remember its own bliss.

When I started senior year at my new school, I wasn’t prepared to call him Mr. Daniels, but sometimes life happens at the wrong time for all the right reasons.

Our love story wasn’t only about the physical connection.

It was about family. It was about loss. It was about being alive. It was silly. It was painful. It was mourning. It was laughter.

It was ours.

And for those reasons alone, I would never apologize for loving Mr. Daniels.

-Ashlyn Jennings

Wow, This is one of the best books I've read in 2014.

This one has it all. I laughed, I cried (well sobbed would be more truthful) Cheered for them, ached for them. This is just a touching beautiful story. You feel the pain and the joys of the characters with the easy flowing writing style of Brittainy Cherry. But be warned once you start you are not going to want to put it down so get comfortable put your feet up and enjooy the ride.

I thaught I woul read "an other" forbidden love story teacher/student but iy was so much more.

This is about grief, about losing those you love, about finding yourself. It's about friendshipo, about tolerance, about ... well you get the gist of it.

It's beautifully written, with wonderful characters and I cried buckets.

Each time Ashlyn read one of Gaby's letter I felt overwhelmed by emotion. And God I hated the author for what happened to Ryan!

But she is still forgiven and I'll keep looking for her other books.

I have read close to a hundred books this year - some of them excellent - and I can tell without hesitation that this novel is the best - and by far. It is outstanding, stunning, poignant and life-altering and beautiful in its apparent simplicity. I have never read an author who could write like this. The style flows and is flawless, characterization is brilliant, every single character in this story takes a life on their own, we can't but feel empathy and cry for them and with them because we understand how they feel and everything makes sense. Several topics are broached and they interweave seamlessly. This is a beautiful ode to life... and so much more. I know this story will stay with me. A heartfelt thank you to the author, this is why I love reading. Please, never stop writing.

"I want to be yours, I want you to be mind, and I hate that we can't be us. Because I think we were meant to be us."

This is a brilliantly, bittersweet book that will take your breath away.

I have never laughed and cried so much in one sitting. This book was full of grief and pain and at the same time I grinned and laughed with every other turn of the page. It gave my heart whiplash!

Every word I could use to describe this book would contradict another aspect of the story - dark, yet happy; thrilling, yet depressing; heartbreaking, yet funny; simple, yet complex; familiar, yet refreshing... this book is all of these things, but most importantly it is memorable, powerful, and moving.

I secretly enjoy student/teacher romances. Ok, it's not a secret... I love them. That being said, this book is so much more than just a student/teacher romance. There are so many layers that are slowly pulled back as the story moves forward. By itself it was absolutely amazing, but the best part of this book was the characters. Our main two characters, Ashlyn and Daniel, really touched my heart. They were two broken people that had suffered so much, and found solace and healing in each other forming an unbreakable bond. The relationship between Ashlyn and Daniel was a rare, honest love, and I ached for them and the circumstances that made their relationship wrong. All of the characters had so much depth, and were written so well that I felt they were a part of me. They were quirky, relatable, and impossible not to fall in love with... even the secondary characters added important elements to this story as they broke through the pages to tell their own story.

I don't want to compare Brittainy C. Cherry to anyone else because her writing style and book are unique in their own right. What I will say is that I would recommend this book to EVERYONE, but I think it will most definitely appeal to fans of Colleen Hoover, Jessica Park, Amy Harmon, or The Perks of Being A Wallflower (the movie, not the book - I haven't read it).

5 Coping with Real Life * * * * *

This is an experience... overwhelming, intense and so heartfelt. There are moments which will make you stop and just absorb it all... because of the quirky beauty and then the deep, slicing pain. If I sound a little overly dramatic with this book, it's because I never was a bystander. What do I mean by that? It's when you are reading and kinda going through the motions; you are there ... and then you drift away... maybe go and fix a little snack... talk on the phone with a friend or check your email. You're not fully invested. This read demands you tuck in and give yourself over to it from the start. If you don't, it will be your loss.

There is so much covered in this book; the use of a teacher and older student is the least of the things it's about in my opinion. It focuses on sibling and parental loss; the undercurrent of blame and how it can be destructive in so many ways. Bullying, sexual orientation and acceptance are also addressed.

But mostly right next to all of these deep issues which cause unbearable pain for those in it...this story gives us pure and staggering love... first love and sibling love ...
The rush we feel with this first love and way it is nourished and blossoms is beyond any description I can give will wash over you as you read how it happens; tentative steps all done against the artistry of Shakespeare. This first love is also teamed with the love of sisters with a special bond only twins can have.

So, this tale is chocked full of thought proving ideas... and it kills me not to go into all of them... but then I would be telling you this story instead of you experiencing it as I did... which was primarily going into it blind. I will share all of the characters were so well crafted... there are no missing pieces with them... they held their own, I was there with their crisis' too.

This period in so hard... and there is a scene which addresses it so eloquently... I don't think it could be done better.

Brittainy C. Cherry wrote something very special and I am better for reading it. Patrycja's review pushed me over the edge in reading this today and I am most appreciative. If you are looking for something which will cause you to think about life and how you live it... then don't be a bystander... read this book.

Loved loved this story, with the purposeful, double use of the word "loved." Just when it couldn't get any worse for Ashlyn or Daniel, who have both endured immense loss along with isolation, they meet each other. Ashlyn has always hoped to find someone weird in the same way she is, and guess what, Daniel can quote Shakespeare with the best of them like her, he's even in a band called Romeo's Quest that sings songs based off of Shakespeare's plays. Daniel, who seems very in tune with Ashlyn's emotions and is attracted to the entire package that she is, including the sadness. Sounds like a match made in a heaven that believes in broken people finding each other, except not really, because Daniel is Ashlyn's teacher. So yes, this is a forbidden romance, but the focus was on their love and their healing through each other that the forbidden component almost seemed secondary or a non-issue because the love itself was so authentic and pure. But the forbidden part was still something to be reminded of because of the other characters potentially finding out, but it never felt that way in the scenes with only Ashlyn and Daniel, they were on par with each other in every way such that there wasn't an upper hand for age or emotional maturity. Everything just fit with them. It was sweet and passionate and poetic and on the edge. I absolutely loved how Daniel loved Ashlyn, so encompassing and so fully, yet he didn't try to hold her back in any way. Ashlyn hasn't been truly loved by anyone in her life besides her late sister so I admired her spunk despite her hardship. She wasn't easily deterred by teasing, she was an avid bookworm and she wanted to honor her sister by remembering her in a respectable way. Hailey and Ryan, 2 unlikely people in the form of being her step-sister and step-brother and became her closest friends showed her what real love is and isn't, and that every family has its own dysfunction within it. Henry, the previously absent father that I expected to be nearly impossible to redeem himself in front of Ashlyn, makes excruciatingly small baby steps to remedy that where I wondered if this relationship could be salvaged. Ashlyn's journey to become her whole self again is beautiful and patient and most definitely worth reading.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Enjoyed, but am I the only one who noticed how heavily inspired it was by a different author? 21 mai 2014

First, let me say, I enjoyed this book. Its not my favorite, but I have no problems admitting I cried quite a bit the last 25%. And I like books that make me feel. So that's a plus.

But if you read Slammed and Hopeless by Colleen Hoover, very little about this book will be new to you. I'm not sure if it was intentional, and it's not my place to assume it was. As a friend of mine says, "there are only so many story lines, eventually a couple of books are going to resemble each other." That's true, but I have a laundry list of similarities that I won't post here as to avoid spoilers. There were at least a dozen times that I found myself saying, "Wait....that's from Slammed". Or "Wait...that happened in Hopeless". It disappointed me that the true originality didn't come in until closer to the end.

There were also some character development issues. For instance, at the beginning, her dad comes across as a pot head whose car is a piece of junk. Wait...he's the assistant principal? That threw mw for a loop. And Ryan is initially presented as a brooding teenager who doesn't so much as speak to Ashlyn. But on the first day of school, he's all smiley and talkative and BFFs with her. How did that happen?

Overall, I enjoyed the read, which I guess is the purpose. I just don't know if I can overlook the above issues to say it was great.
