I found this book to be very informative and most helpful as well as very well thought out and put together. From the way it’s laid out in segments to the way each section goes into great detail regarding the how’s and why’s as well as the why Not’s of doing a low carb diet. And I was very impressed by the fact that the authors tell you that you do NOT have to count calories with a low carb diet as long as you do it the right way.
I also found it most helpful that they had a full section on recipes for cooking low carb meals at home that were quite easy to adjust to our lifestyle since my wife and I have been pretty much gluten free for the past 5 years. But they also give some great suggestions for sticking to the carb free diet even when dining out. All in all, a very good book to have around.

This book cites extensive research about the benefits of low-carb diets but does not cite the sources of its research. It provides quite a bit of information about the reasons why low-carb diets work for quick weight loss and common myths about health risks of low-carb diets. It also provides advice on low-carb eating, reading food labels, stocking up on essentials to have them on hand, and eating out. Only in the second part of the book does it get to recipes. The recipes are broken into sections by meals, snacks, etc. But each section has only 8 or so recipes each, so if you are looking for extensive recipes rather than information about low-carb diets, this may not be the book for you.

Also included are a meals program and lots of delicious, easy to prepare recipes. The dishes are easy to prepare, the ingredients easy to find and they are cost effective. This cookbook provides tips when enjoying a night out at a resturant and strategies to enjoy success when first adopting this eating plan. The Low-Carb diet cookbook should be in every kitchen where healthy eating is a priority. It is well written and the concepts are presented in understandable language.

Keep it simple???? Not here! This books give a great breakdown between the bad (simple) carbs and the good (complex) carbs. The intro goes a little over board with technical jargon, but once you get past that that, it does a good job of showing you what to cut out of your diet and what to keep in, or add. The good thing about this diet book is that it has hardy recipes that allows the use to enjoy and still lose weight without being hungry.

I really enjoy this book, though as a vegetarian I have to cherry pick through the recipes to find those that are suitable. The book is divided into three parts, each part is very useful. I know it is the tendency when you buy a diet book to delve right into the recipe section but Part I. and Part III. are also must reads. Part I. explains what a low carb diet is, goes into the different types and explains the overall health benefits that can be obtained from eating this way. This section goes into the ways low carb can help you lose weight. You will learn your target range of carb intake daily and there are many tips to help you succeed. Part II. Features recipes including a nice variety of breakfast meals, snacks, soups, salads, entrees and desserts. I appreciate the fact that you get full nutritional information on each recipe. In this section you will find recipes for foods you thought you couldn’t eat with low carb, like pizza, muffins, cheesecake, soufflés and snack bars. Recipes include alternatives to wheat flour and whole wheat flour as well as a variety of sweeteners from agave to Splenda. Part III. Contains further information, followed by appendices to help you be successful with low carb. For those curious about or embarking on a low carb eating plan, especially those that eat meat, I highly recommend this book.
