Présentation de l'éditeur

***A USA Today Bestseller***

Pandora Ann Phillips' life is just normal-crazy.

Her mom's psychic, her dad's mom is a snob, her mom's parental units are 'too down to earth' and her best friends are newlyweds. Okay, so her best friends being newlyweds isn't really abnormal, but living with them in a cramped two-bedroom apartment definitely is. Sex, sex, sex, is totally on their brains. Actually, it's not only on their brains, but it's on the kitchen table, couch, on top of the washer...well, you get the picture.

Being a celibate (not by choice, mind you) full-time college student, and working as an almost full-time barista, Pandora can't afford to lose anymore sleep. So, she decides to seek out a new place to lay her head. Enter three 'drool worthy' male models that are looking for a fourth roommate, and they want her...and won't take no for an answer.

Romantic hilarity ensues as Pandora's life turns completely upside down, and she begins to wonder if it will ever be the same again!

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Good Writing - Crappy Story 6 janvier 2014

I am giving this a three star rating based solely on the writing. She's a good writer, but this story is a mess.

SPOILER ALERT! Here are my issues with the book:

1. This would never happen in real life. Pandora needs to move out because her best friends/roommates are recently married and won't stop having loud sex. That's totally acceptable. Then, she answers a 'roommate wanted' ad. That's acceptable. But everything else that happens isn't. She goes to meet the people from the ad. They greet each other, and within minutes, are asking her to move in. No background check. No questions about her. Nothing. Oh, and the people she's moving in with are all rich, famous male models. Famous models place an ad on a grocery store wall for a roommate? Why do they need a roommate if they are rich and famous? If they were struggling models, it would've seemed possible. They would need roommates because their work is inconsistent.

2. Her name is Pandora (which is pretty cool) but they call her Dora. All I could picture was Dora the Explorer and it really threw me off throughout the book, but that was a minor issue. The biggest issue is there's nothing to Pandora as a character. She complains about her best friends/roommates. Complains about her family. Complains about herself. Why do they love her? Honestly, I really can't figure it out. Also, the reviews are calling this a romantic comedy. Where is the comedy? Was I supposed to laugh because she kept overdoing it on alcohol and passing out? Sorry, nothing happened while she was drunk which I thought was funny. Also, one of guys kisses her, but she doesn't know who. She assumes it's one of the models, but never talks to anyone about it. What girl on this planet would do that? We NEED to know who delivered the hot, sexy kiss.

3. One of the male models falls for her immediately because she's so different from any girl he's met. Really? And your basing this on the three sentence dialogue you had with her before she moved in? Did I miss a chapter somewhere? Pandora spends half the book interested in another guy and really gives the one that likes her very little time. Honestly, I don't see how his feelings developed. He's in a bunch of scenes with her, but they barely ever talk to each other. There was no build-up to this romance. We're just expected to believe it because he's telling us he's crazy about her.

Bottom Line - This wasn't for me, but I'd consider buying other books from this author because I thought it was well-written. A well-written crappy story.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Dora ruined this book for me 12 janvier 2014

I'm not sure how else to describe this book other than "fluff." Everything that you would expect to make a great new adult contemporary romance (characters, plot, conflict, storytelling) was mediocre in this book. I think the concept was actually pretty solid and if executed well, it could have been a great book. But it fell flat on many counts for me...

First of all, the characters felt very 2 dimensional and you got almost NO emotional depth from any of them.

Secondly, The "psychic" aspect of the story was also perplexing to me. Dora claims that she is an empath, or has the ability to sense the emotions of others, however this skill is never used in any overt way. It is mentioned once during a confrontation with Liam. One would expect that with a skill like that, it would become a tool that the heroine uses to solve conflicts and find resolution... however this little element was never followed through and provided little to NO perceived benefit to the advancement of the story.

And lastly (and my deal breaker) was the character of Dora. If you are going to write a first person perspective book, you need to at least be able to respect and care about the main character enough to want to experience the story through their eyes. Otherwise, the book becomes a painful waste of time. To but it bluntly, I grew to truly detest Dora during this book. She came across as a shallow, exceedingly selfish and prejudicial girl. Her emotional maturity level placed her more like an immature 16-year old, rather than a 20-something college student (no clue how old she really was). She must have rolled her eyes literally every other page, and she was downright RUDE to her roommates for no justifiable reason. She took pains to avoid them, and even walked ahead of them to get in the elevator by herself. This inexcusable behavior was based off a prejudicial assumption (on part of Dora) that because the three guys (Drew in particular) are all supermodels, they must be vain, selfish, self centered playboys. Therefore, she's determined to give them all the cold shoulder with a "mighter than thou" attitude, despite their best attempts to simply be nice to her. However, other than having Drew answer the door in his underwear and a robe the first time they meet, and a bunch of tabloid articles about him, the author never wrote ONE scene that proved this behavior was justified. As my 6th grade English teacher once told me... "show don't tell." You want me to believe Drew is a playboy? SHOW it to me... don't tell it to me through Dora's narrow first person perspective (all based on a prejudicial assumption) and expect me to believe you. It felt to me like Dora's behavior was a fabrication on behalf of the author for nothing more than the sake of conflict in the book, rather than a byproduct of actual justifiable character flaws.

This behavior may have been acceptable at the very beginning of the book, but it goes on for FAR TOO LONG to be justified, and ended up just making Dora look like a major b*tch. Plus, it boggled my mind why any of the guys would like her based on this attitude, unless they have such low self esteem that they enjoy playing the part of a doormat.

The worst part was, Dora never really "grew" in the book either. She never recognized these flaws and learned from them or consciously overcame them. Majorly disappointing.

Liam was a saving grace for this book. He always seemed mysterious and aloof, and kept me interested to know what was going on with him. If it hadn't been for him, I am not sure I could have finished the book.

I also did like how the author gave us a paragraph from one of the guys' POV's at the end of certain chapters. You know one of them is falling hard for Dora, however you don't know WHO it is because the author leaves it intentionally cryptic, so she keeps you guessing until around halfway through the book (when best friend Jeff comes into the picture) and then it becomes rather obvious. Still, I thought it was an interesting device, and certainly kept me reading to find out who it was.

What's up with the negative comments? Seriously, fussing that this wouldn't happen in real life? News Flash - this is FICTION. Did you mean to get something in the non-fiction group? I loved this book and I laughed out loud at Dora's conversations with herself. Her family was funny and her friends were amazing. It didn't have many errors and for a first book that is a big deal. The romance was sweet. Don't pay so much attention to the negatives posted here. If you have a sense of humor and you are smart enough to realize you will be reading Fiction and you like romance books you will love this book.

So I've been waiting for this book since last June when I found out about it. I was so excited to start it and once I did well obviously I couldn't stop. I mean really, who wouldn't want to drop everything to read about 3 hot models looking for a fourth roommate.. I was a lover it.

I haven't laughed so much with a book in forever. Dora's family is hilarious and her grandmothers, omg, let me tell you you will totally love their crazy bickering.

Ok so onto the models. There is Drew- the bad boy. You can tell right away he's in charge. He's the talker of the "Modelteers" and they look to him a lot. Next is he hot Aussie Liam. I don't know why I like the quiet types but somehow he got to me a lot more than the others did at first. You could tell he was sweet but just really closed off and I just wanted to grab him and give him he biggest hug ever. Oh and the accent wouldn't hurt either. Hen there's the third hottie Colin. He's from England. We don't really get much of him but the three guys together are definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Julie and Kevin are Dora's best friends. Julie has a serious potty mouth but I loved that about her. then theirs Jeff Dora's hot gay best friend. He's just adorable and the relationship between him and Dora is just, well they don't always need words to understand each other. That's how close they are.

This story is just chopped full of fun that I had to read it all. I really hated that my bed was calling me but I had to put it down. Just for a few hours though.. I started back up as soon as I got home and just jumped head first into this crazy story.

everyone lived in this huge warehouse turned apartments. Well, that's a horrible word since their one apartment was like four in one.. Dora's boring life changed he minute she walked in the door but she never felt she was good enough to be in their world. The world of beautiful people where she was just this little ordinary redheaded girl. boy was she wrong about everything.

You really have to read his if your looking for a great fun and exciting read.. Oh and by the way.. I was totally had.. Once you read this story you'll understand. There's a bit of a twist in it that will keep you guessing.

Congrats Momma on an awesome book and I'm hoping for many more..

Oh boy. I'm not entirely convinced that this book wasn't written by a 12 year girl. I really don't even know how to compliment this. I struggled to finish because the writing is so extremely poor. So many pointless details. SO. MANY. And hey, is Dora's hair red? I can't be sure- it was only mentioned about a thousand times. We get it.

The story is...I don't even know. Beyond realistic, beyond even fantasy, and way past the point of ridiculous.

Seriously, save yourself the $.99 and skip it. I sure wish I had.
