Aout the the three issues I have #2, #3 and #4 this one is my favorite so far. Seem like they are getting better and better, can't wait for the #5.

If your a real Foodie and like good writing and stories about food you owe it to your self to get this one!

I do not recommend subscribing to this. The journal is cool, but sort of long-winded. Additionally, I swear, the next issue always has at least three "corrections" to recipes from the issue before. Cooking out of this magazine proves to be a waste all around. I think if you are using it because you loooooooooooove Chang, you will most likely be happy. Other than that it is a little too pretentious for me, but I only have a minor love of food, I'm not one of these crazy foodies.

Also, of the four issues I had subscribed for last year, I only received one. At issue three, I cancelled and requested a full refund because I realized that the third issue was out and I hadn't gotten one since the first. They did reimburse me, so I appreciated that. I settle for taking these out from the library.

Like all the issues of lucky peach this one is full of great information. The list on contributing writers and chefs keep growing with each issue.

I like the journal a lot. The writing was clever and fun, it was neat to read the copy I picked up in January. But, you need to be aware of the subscription problems if you are considering it, because this has been a useless subscription.

I purchased my husband a subscription as a birthday gift in April as he is a major hardcore foodie, and enjoyed our purchased copy very much. The website claimed I would get the May 1st edition if I subscribed right then, that would get it to me in time for his birthday, and I was pleased.

May came and went, and so did his birthday and I felt lame for it not arriving. Most of June also came and went, and I emailed them about it. They apologized and told me to let them know by the end of the week if my copy had arrived, and claimed they got the issue to the printers very late. The week went by and it didn't arrive, and I let them know that, and they assured me a copy would go out in the mail that day and apologized.

Anyway, that final email was nearly 10 days ago. It still hasn't arrived. I sent another email today that was a bit more irritated and indicated that I was not amused. They haven't followed up to see if my issue has arrived or anything. They have until Wednesday to make it right and then I demand a full refund. I realize it is a small publication and subject to quirks as such, but then don't sell subscriptions.

The moral of the story is, if you like the journal, get it from a magazine stand. They will take your payment, and then your subscription simply won't arrive, whether you ask them about it or not.

I enjoyed this issue but I thought The Cook's Issue was worth five stars and this one just didn't stack up as well. It wasn't as entertaining to read, but still far better than the other food mags on the rack.
