Since I discovered this existed at least five years ago, I've always coveted it. Finally, I decided to treat myself for Christmas.
What irks me, for $22 is that the magnets are super cheap and flimsy and the words are on a thin paper that sits on the magnet. A LOT of the words are smeared and most of the words have creases through them where the paper was not lined up properly when it adhered to the magnet. Had I paid $5, I totally would not be complaining about the quality. I guess I really wanted this for so long, that to get a damaged/defective/subpar set stunk.
I had looked for a list of the words, but couldn't find one. So here is what I received (I am not going to type all the her/she/I/we/ly and other prepositions): * I will note, after typing them there are quite a few words that may be inappropriate for children/teens and you may want to remove those before allowing kids to use the set. Generally, I think it is a pretty decent start and probably would be improved by purchasing additional kits to enhance word play.

Young or old, either gender, no one can resist the magnetic pull of this little box of words. Couldn't be simpler or more addictive. My little nieces 5 & 6 are mesmerized (I got them the kid's version for their little fingers) and our mostly grown kids and their friends can't resist it either. The refrigerator has become the new gathering spot, as everyone test drives their poetic license. Essential Eternity, petals of pink, delicate day of dreams, pounding of the rain ... I never know what wisdom awaits me on the frig. Note that Amazon also carries many different additional sets, Shakespeare, romance, gardening, Spanish ... for starters.

I bought these sets for 5th-8th grade students to use during their class visits to the library (I work at a K-8 school). I did have to remove a couple of words (breast, lust) as I'd rather not deal with offended parents. Otherwise, the students enjoy creating their own poems/phrases.

The idea is awesome. You're not a poet? oh well. You can still be good at it if given the right choice words and phrases, conveniently on a magnet so you can display your work on the refrigrator, or anywhere else. I came up with everything from "Stormy waters in my dream of you" to "no, you pounded the milk money." unfortunately, not every word can be included, and some choice ones were left out. Life. it's a great word. More verbs and adjectives needed too. Overall, you should get it for inspiration or laughter. I'd say you need an expansion pack (not sold as far as i know) but this is a necesity.

I first saw Magnetic poetry when staying with a friend, and by the end of our visit I knew I had to get one! I love anything that brings out the creative side in my husband and this definitely does that! We both make poems and messages with our kit. I plan to purchase some for Christmas gifts--great unusual gift for new couples :o)
