Présentation de l'éditeur

Detective Inspector Romney and Detective Sergeant Marsh are back solving crime in the port town of Dover on the Kent coast. Of course they are. They are the police. It’s their job.

A nasty death on the thirteenth green of the local golf course heralds the start of a series of disturbing events that sees the town’s annual crime statistics go through the roof. As the dead bodies start piling up, DI Romney fears he might miss his holiday. Is it the heat? Is there something in the water? Or is someone just out to make a killing?

Seven people lost their lives in the making of this the second instalment of the Romney and Marsh Files.

Some Amazon comments on the Romney and Marsh Files:

“I have read all three of the Romney and Marsh files and have enjoyed many hours of entertainment.”

“I've read all three in the series of Inspector Romney... I have enjoyed them immensely and would recommend that they all be made into films or TV series.”

“As with the others in the series the author sets a good pace with interesting character elements and a plot which keeps you interested throughout.”

“Done all three books now in this trilogy and been surprised how much I have enjoyed them as I have not read crime novels before.”

“I have read all 3 books in this series in the last month, I hope there will be more to come from this author as I have really enjoyed them.”

“This is the third book of the Romney and Marsh series I have read or should I say devoured in less than a week.”

“Excellent book. I hope this is not the last book in the Romney and Marsh series that Mr Tidy writes. Really enjoyed all three books.”

I am currently working on the first in my Booker and Cash stories Bad Sons and the fourth in the Romney and Marsh Files, provisionally titled Matters of Life and Death. After I have made these available on ebook, I’ll be tackling the third Acer Sansom, probably.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 New UK star of the genre? 20 août 2013

This is a great improvement over the 'introductory' novel by this author.

For a first time in a long time I had to finish it by 3 am - some of the bad guys were not revealed till the last pages and DI Romney (similar as in the previous novel) did suffer a grave bodily harm. and passed out in a critical moment. Thank god for DS Marsh.

As other reviewers write, the author's dry sense of humor and a good knowledge of the UK police system (much more benign than, for instance, the fictional and real LAPD here) seems to be first hand. Being bit old fashioned I actually prefer scheming lower level cops to the villains in high places of many Connelly's LA novels.

Dover is a great location, its white cliffs (pure chalk, I think)have been traditionally the first thing 'bloody foreigners' saw before entering England.
Not, of course, if you arrive by a plane or now through the Chunnel, of course.

Highly recommended and now to the third published book. I have to slow down and get some sleep. The third book will not go away.

Well, I'm hooked on this series. DI Romney is a hoot - humorous curmudgeon, smart copper, wry son-of-a gun. What's not to like? The minor characters only serve to highlight his foibles. Romney also has a soft side, a man you'd like to know away from his profession. Marsh is smart, a good sidekick, but somehow, not as real to me; I don't have a mental picture of her. Once again, in this second Marsh and Romney book, the mysteries are compelling. I am a golf fan, so this one is even more interesting to me. Numerous outcomes are possible along the way, and yet, none feel like red herrings. A couple of conclusions hinge on faith; especially Masters death, didn't seem likely but was acceptable. All was tidy (no pun intended, or maybe it was) at the end, but none seemed contrived with a deadline to finish this thing off. So I'm on to the next book, Joint Enterprise.

An excellent detective/mystery/police procedural that is superbly written, extremely engaging and worthy of blockbuster status. I'm unsure if I like the individual's stories or the reparte of the team more! In any case, the characters are well developed, 3-dimensional, and quite believable. DI Romney's balanced/complimented/foiled perfectly by DS Marsh and the rest of his new team in this awesome series. Clever dialog, solid plots and the characters are absolutely addictive. Well Done, Mr. Tidy!
HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION but warn you, like the old US advert, no one can read just one!

This is typical British murder mystery with police procedure and interesting characters. I read all four books and liked them all. I like series because if I find a character interesting I want to know more about them. I look forward to the next installment. The protagonist has a fine sense of justice so there is no waffling on the right thing to do that is creeping into a lot of modern fiction today. He has his problems, but he is human and we all have problems. I encourage British murder mystery fans to give this series a try.

What a delightful read. Thorough characterizations, a tight British police procedural, more than a bit of humor. All and all well worth the time. I read Book 1 some time ago and had this in my Kindle wish list. Borrowed it with the monthly Kindle Prime lending library. Will either buy or borrow the next two and not wait so long. I was impressed with the style of writing and with the clean editing. For a self published book, this one is above average. A quick, fun read; many twists and turns; and an unexpected ending.
