Présentation de l'éditeur

This book is about the beginning of Sir Alex's football career, until the year 2000.

1999 was an outstanding year for Alex Ferguson - not only did he lead Manchester United, the most glamorous club in the world, to a unique and outstanding treble triumph, but he was awarded the highest honour for his sporting achievements; a Knighthood from the Queen. Universally respected for his tough, but caring managerial style, Ferguson is an unusually intelligent man with a fascinating life story. Covering his tough Govan upbringing through to his playing days and onto his shift into management, Managing My Life is told with the fine balance of biting controversy and human sensitivity which made it such an unprecedented success in hardback. Alex Ferguson is a legend in his lifetime.

This is the best sports book I have read. It is a great insight into arguably the best manager ever in the history of soccer. I always respected Sir Alex Ferguson anyway, but after reading this book, I even have more respect for his tactics and especially his ethical approach to life in general. Whether you are a soccer coach yourself, just a sports fan, or a business manager looking for insight into how to manage people better you will enjoy this book.

HASH(0x905c424c) étoiles sur 5 A MUST for all United fans! 30 juin 2005

Being a soccer fan of the club Manchester United for 15 years, this book is truly a revealing account inside the mind of one of the greatest soccer managers of British Football.

This autobiography shows how a seemingly ordinary man was able to achieve phenomenal success in his managerial career. Alex HATES to be on the losing side and this is a major motivation for him to achieve success constantly on the pitch and on his personal life.

I would love to recommend this book to all Manchester United fans as well as sports psychologists and people working in a competitive environment. To achieve success (in whatever field), one MUST have confidence in his/her own ability and take on the world like a soldier on the battlefield. People with low self-esteem should read this book to bring out their own competitive nature.

Finally, the statistics which show Alex Ferguson's playing and managerial record (at the end of the book) is indeed invaluable to the true soccer fan. This provides the "icing on the cake" for this honest work of brilliance by Ferguson.

Stellar read with much insight into football (soccer) at many different levels. Sir Alex has an amazing story to tell and if you want to better understand the global love hate relationship with Manchester United...no need to look further. This is not a book on soccer tactics although they are discussed, but instead is exactly what the the title states; the story of Ferguson's life. It is well written and he doesn't hold back or sugar coat any controversial happenings, he rather tells it as it is through his mind's eye which is refreshing and makes for an engaging read. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in seeing pure passion, leadership and hard work mold boys into men who win trophies and titles for the record books, but the greater achievement is their development of integrity and character that Sir Alex instills in them through tough love and discipline. Ferguson is always fighting the good fight, battle by battle and leading with a steadfast faith knowing that the end justifies the means. This book expanded my horizons (being from the states) and I couldn't put it down and am looking forward to hearing the rest of the story when it is all said and done.

HASH(0x90265ae0) étoiles sur 5 3 reasons to read this book (with a pinch of salt) 8 mars 2015
Par Variety Valley - Publié sur Amazon.com

Sir Alex Ferguson, as the Premier League's greatest manager of all time, was equally ruthless in his words as the way his team demolished his rivals. Though not exactly a Manchester United fan during his reign, it was always wonderful to see how his team played on the field. Here are 3 reasons why you should read this book.

* As with most football autobiographies, it is a perfect opportune for the author to write things from his own perspective, and more often than not, there are criticisms involving players and managers. Perhaps not coincidentally, United have many of the famous players at that time, including Ronaldo, Beckham and Wayne Rooney. (He once made Beckham shave off his Mohawk in the United dressing room.)

* As mentioned with the previous point of revealing things that the media does not know, we see how Alex Ferguson views himself as a person - he admits some decisions are difficult but also explains why they had to be made.

* We all have to see how this great manager rose to become one of the greatest because he stuck at his job even as the results did not show and ultimately his talent in managing teams shone.

As a Liverpool FC fan,and he's the one that solely shifted the balance of England's "football power" from Merseyside to Manchester,I 'd better skip this one....But I'll tell you-read it.A must for any football fan.Sir Alex reveals it all.BTW I liked the earlier Scottish part of the book better and more interesting as his Manchester United journey is much better documented and I think is a bit compressed here.Earlier part with Scottish life/stories/humor and so on is much more valuable.Tells a lot how his character and winning mentality developed
