Présentation de l'éditeur

Farlan has welcomed those of magical heritage with open arms, but it has come at a price. The Brotherhood is amassing a large army in the Kingdom of Rane to the east with designs on not only conquering Farlan but slaughtering every mage and magical being that dares to stray into their path.
Thad has sent out his friends in hopes of rallying the magical creatures to defend the only known safe haven in Kurt. The dwarves that hide in their valley, the elves of the wooded isle, and the Vathari who dwell deep in the underearth—they are the only hope Farlan has to win. As the last of the winter snows melt, Thad must ride out to face the coming horde with his meager army and pray that help comes soon; otherwise, all will be lost.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 A good series but this seems rushed 10 avril 2014

I have enjoyed this Reawakening series and was lucky enough to only discover it last year, so I got to read sevral volumes one after another, rather than only every few months as you wait for the next one. While I have enjoyed the series, I was disappointed with the last quarter of Master Mage. Without given away soo much in spoilers, it leaves a few unanswered questions, and I felt the epilogue time jumped too far, which again lead to some unanswered questions and unresolved issues. This novel reads like a final book in this series, which is why I have this opinion. If it is not, then some of my disappoiintment isn't justified.

If you have been reading the series, I recommend this volume to give yourself some closure. But I have to agree with "Amazon Customer" that it isn't really the author's best work. I think it is 3.5 stars, but because I liked the rest of the series, I'm rounding up to 4 stars

2.0 étoiles sur 5 The Mage Series as a whole 23 avril 2014

I have read every book in this series and I wished the author released it as one book, not several smaller books. The main character "Thad" started out so strong and that is why I kept on reading the series but as the series when on and "Thad" became a weaker character, leaning on the different races and people he met along the way I began to lose interest. The ending of the story was a let down. The end felt rushed and not fully thought out. You do not find out what happens to a lot of the secondary characters in this series. I would not recommend this series to anyone. It is also full of spelling mistakes, which drove me crazy.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 A good addition to the series, just hope it's not the last. 6 avril 2014

This book felt like an mediocre last book, or a good installment, to be honest i'm not quite sure which this is. The story doesn't feel quite complete, the world has so many questions that have yet to be answered. If it's another installment in a still longer series, it does a pretty good job of leaving me curious and wondering about the further implications. On the other hand if it's the final book in the series, I'd have to say the amount of plot holes left open are a little too much. Too many portions of the world to wonder about, with a protagonist that as of the end of the last book is starting to feel world weary and ready to give up. The trend continues in this book with the protagonist being beat down by the world, that no matter what he accomplishes, or what good things happen to him, he seems to be ready to give up any second. Aside from the motivations that have had him going so far, i can't see the spark in him that was present in the earlier books, that hunger for exploration and knowledge. I can't quite seem to get a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel, or at least the spark that will carry him there. Maybe i'm missing something. In spite of that i still enjoyed reading the book, and will most probably snap up the next installment the second it's posted, if only because i'm already so far invested in the story and the characters, that i want to see how it all plays out.

As has been the issue with his previous works the editing could use some real work. While the amount of misspellings are almost gone, the amount of words changed to other words that they just don't make sense, pulls you out of the story. At one specific time i found myself in the middle of a conversation between two characters and had to stop for a second to figure out what the character was actually saying because the word that was used was obviously not the correct word. It didn't take much thought to figure out and by the end of the book the mistakes didn't slow me down at all. But the fact that there were enough of them for me to "get used" to them is pretty bad. It really breaks up the flow of reading it when i have to stop to figure out what the word was supposed to be.

All in all however as i said i did enjoy the book and will buy the next installment, but at this point it's feeling less and less like something i'm looking forward to and more like something i'm invested in and want to finish. I'm not at that point yet, so i'm genuinely hoping the author can give me back that spark to continue. Fingers crossed.

It is an ending, the series progressed very differently than I expected. The main character went from attempting to directing his life to letting everything happen to him and, i don't know, giving up and accepting.
I bought all of the books, each of the where short stories, better read in an omnibus version.

For a book that says it was edited on the first page I found many, many instances of mis-spelling and the use of wrong words. Some so bad that it took a while to figure out what was being said, Mr. Jackson, you definately need to fire your editing firm. The actual story was pretty good, I'm just one of those people that is irritated by frequent errors. If you're not, you'll like this book.
