This a really good summary of how primary school kids are now taught maths in some (many?) countries. While I've always enjoyed maths myself, there's plenty who don't, and I had no idea how the teaching of the subject has changed. The book explains (and for me introduced!) important topics like 'chunking' and 'grids' that my 7-year old is now expected to learn.

Some of the explanations tend to be a bit long, and there's plenty of self-justifying 'why you need this book' for those not so sure, but this isn't much of a distraction.

The tips on how to teach and encourage your child, and help then along are very well done.

I bought the Kindle edition and really I think this is a book I'd prefer to have in hardback.
