Pretty good tire 15 juillet 2009
Par John Public - Publié sur Amazon.com
Achat vérifié
It's a heavy tire but rolls quite fast on hard pavement. VERY poor choice for anything loose. gravel, dirt, etc. Performs very well under total bike/equipment/rider weight of about 270 pounds. No worries about pinch flats whatsoever.

Bought this for touring, on the rear wheel. Have a lot of weight over the rear wheel, and transfer a lot of power through that wheel. Rear tire wears about 3-4 times faster than front and it's a pain in the butt to fix flats (disc brakes plus panniers). This tire looks like a very good choice but running lighter tire in front.

UPDATE: May 2011. I finally removed this tire last week. It handled an 1800 mile cross country tour with a total of almost 300 pounds, heavily biased to be over this wheel. NO flats during the ride. In fact no flats since putting it on, other than a thumb tack that got embedded in it last year. The tire lasted a ridiculously long time too. I got nearly 6,000 miles out of it. No tire I have ever used has lasted that long. I changed it when threads started showing up on the wear surface.

Once again, it is a HEAVY tire, but rolls fast.

Great Upgrade 15 avril 2013

I bought these as an upgrade for a big-box (very inexpensive) Schwinn bicycle. I wanted a smoother ride, a more puncture resistant tire, and a tire which spun with less effort on my part. This tire exceeded my expectations.

I'm too old to enjoy careening around the woods or stump jumping, although I did plenty of that 20 years ago. Now I ride mostly on hard surface trails or on streets. Compared to the aggressive tread of the tires that came with my bike, these Michelins give me a more comfortable ride yet handle gravel, sand, and mud easily. What really surprised me was how well they handle rain. I was also pleased that, despite their low profile, these tires brake are very solid under even panic braking.

I wouldn't recommend them for heavy off-trail use but if you use your bike for commuting or general fitness, these Michelins are excellent.

A note on sizing: these were not available in the same size as my original tires so I ordered a pair that were 4mm smaller -- they fit with no problem. If you can't find the exact size you need, I suggest you check with your local bike shop to find out the range of sizes your wheels will accept. Since I had taken my new bike into the shop to be tuned as the manufacturer recommended, I got lots of helpful advice from them and, given that my bike needed a fair amount of tune-up work, I'd strongly urge anyone buying a bike online or from a big box store to the same.

Overall, for commuting or surfaced trail use, these tires can't be beat!

Great Tire 16 mai 2010

I just starting using this tire last month. This tire is much better than my last tire. First of all, I don't have to worry about my tire going flat. The grip on the road is fantastic. I could feel the difference with this tire the first time I rode on it. It gives me a very smooth ride. I would highly recommand this tire to anyone who is looking for a great tire at a great price.

Great commuter tire 1 août 2012

I bought this tire to replace a Kenda that came with the bike. The Kenda lasted about 2500 miles, though I should have replaced it long before that. This Michelin tire I use on a Diamondback hybrid. I love the reflective stripe in the tire since my morning commute is usually in the dark especially in the winter. I ride about 9 miles round trip year round. So far I love this tire. It feels good and has enough bite on corners. I have two rear panniers and sometimes get carried away with the stuff I haul to work, but this tire just handles the extra weight with ease. I have seen other tires this good but not at this price point. I would recommend this tire to any serious commuter.

Will NOT be buying again 20 mai 2013

I purchased a set in 2011 and used them for over a year, or 5,500 miles. The front was still fine but the rear was worn so that the inner core was starting to show. In 2012, I went with Rubena for the rear as they were cheaper. But, after only 1,500 miles I had to replace it with this tire. Only $10 more, but last nearly 4 times longer. This tire is a bargain!
In full disclosure, I weigh 210# and commute daily to work, so the tires get a workout!
UPDATE: July 11, 2013: Very disappointed as the tire bead separated from the tire for about an inch with catastrophic failure of the entire tire and tube. Based on previous experience, will buy again, but concerned.
UPDATE: September 16, 2014: Well, I did buy two more tires and installed one of the rear wheel in July. Yesterday, two months and 1,000 miles later, I had the same split along the tire bead and had to replace it. This is the second failure in the general location. For info, I do not over inflate (80#) and the rim is smooth where the failure occurs. I WILL NOT BE BUYING THESE TIRES AGAIN!
