How To Create a Masterpiece Life, One Small Step at a Time

Learn to work with the habit forming tendencies of your mind to create the life you want

Learn how to amplify, clarify and utilize the “inner genius” within your unconscious mind, as it guides you toward a life of true fulfillment and success.

Get past the obstacles that have prevented you from achieving a fulfilling success before

Micro HabitsTM will teach you to build the life you want, one easy step at a time. Rather than using motivation, which tends to be short-lived and undependable, it helps you build solid skills that you can apply in all areas of your life. It will help you effectively leave behind patterns of unfulfilling achievement, procrastination, or even self-sabotage, which may have characterized your life up to now.

See real results!

Unlike other success books, this is a book that looks at success in terms of both material accomplishment and experiential enjoyment of a fulfilling life. Motivational books for success only work if you apply the instruction in your life, and Micro Habits is uniquely tailored for practical application. It is concise and application focused. The technique is grounded in tested and proven psychotherapy principles, which were shown to help any therapy client succeed if they did these internal practices.

Build solid skills that will endure in every area of your life

The emphasis in Micro Habits is on first getting past inertia – the tendency for objects at rest to remain at rest – so that you can benefit from momentum – the tendency for objects in motion to remain in motion. As you practice these easy, small steps, they will become habits that persist even after the initial elation of "something new" is long gone. Eventually you may again be running on habit much of the time, just new habits that advance you toward ever increasing happiness.

Tap into your Inner Genius and unleash your creativity

Remember those times when you are at your best? Ideas seem to flow effortlessly, and you are filled with enthusiasm and totally engaged in what you’re doing? You are tapped into your natural brilliance in those moments. The decisions you make then are the best, and the goals you set will lead you to genuine happiness in all areas of your life, not just the outer appearance of success. In this book you will learn how to build the skill to reliably tap into that hidden storehouse of powerful insight. If you apply the techniques found in this effective little personal development book, you finally be able to develop to your fullest potential, and create a life you genuinely find fulfilling and successful.

About The Author

The author developed Micro Habits out of a combination of Master’s degree training in Counseling Psychology, experience gained counseling professionals in private practice, personal experience transforming a life of misery into one of fulfillment and peaceful joy, participation in the Phone Buddies online peer counseling community she founded, work as a school-based Behavioral Health Specialist for the state of Hawaii, and experience teaching meditation to incarcerated teenagers.

Each of these groups of clients, including the troubled teens, were able to uncover and overcome their inner obstacles to self-mastery and chart a path toward meaningful achievement. They developed more self-awareness, strengthened their willpower, and showed themselves again and again that they could set a goal, however small, and then reliably achieve it 100% of the time.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Micro habits will show you the how to plant the building blocks to help you achieve your personal goals. 4 septembre 2014
Par Jessica Higgins - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Format Kindle
Have you ever had a goal that you wanted to obtain? Maybe happiness, wealth, or wisdom? How about quitting an annoying habit such as smoking or biting your fingernails? In order to accomplish this, you need to obtain new habits, but they need to start at the micro level. So small that you won’t even notice that you are doing them to begin with. Once you have incorporated the new habit, more positive habits will follow in its place. Eventually you will have obtained your goal without even realizing that you have done so.

The best thing about this book is that it gets to the heart of the matter very quickly. If you want to change a habit or achieve a goal, you need to break down what it is you want to do into smaller steps so that you can focus on achieving the micro level goals before you can achieve a macro goal. I also enjoyed the fact that even though there are chapters titled wealth and wisdom, the author really breaks this down into determining what the reader really wants to achieve and why they want to achieve it. It is not just that I want to be wealthy, it is a want to be wealthy because…. Then once the real reason is determined, micro habits can be put in place to give a roadmap to achieving that actual goal.

This book did contain some pretty technical areas concerning the brain and how we think, but I understand that it was done so that the reader would know that the author knows what she is talking about. Even so, it took it away from me a little bit. The author is also very focused on making sure you participate throughout the book. She gives small exercises, such as stretching, throughout different areas. She says that if you aren’t actively engaging in the exercises, then you aren’t likely to engage in the micro habits either, which is probably true. If you are just reading it hoping for a quick answer, you will not find it. You are going to have to really look at yourself and if you want to change something, you are going to have to explore to find out what.

Overall, if you are looking to change something in your life, I would recommend you give this book a try.

As a former programming major, let me start my review with a bit of an odd analogy. When someone sets out to create software, say Microsoft Office for example, the way they do it is by breaking big problems down and down again until they have a bunch of small, defined tasks that one person can take care of and then they put all these completed tasks together to form the whole.

After reading this book I really came away from it feeling like it had a similar attitude, but towards managing your life. Making big changes is hard, but by breaking them down into small, clear steps you know you can do and making a habit out of them, you really can effect massive change and stop wasting your time on things that aren't your end-goal. Killing bad habits is just as hard, if not harder, than fostering new ones, but the method is still the same--steady, small steps. Breaking things down. Figuring out what's important to you and what's not.

After reading this I found it a lot easier to turn away the distractions that kept me from my passions and my goals, I was able to get more out of my creative side on a regular basis, and all of those things have improved my general mood on a day to day basis. When you feel like you're doing what you're supposed to be doing, like you're working towards something meaningful, it really changes your daily outlook on life. It can be a confusing road getting to that place of wisdom, however, and I felt that this book really helped me along the way in that regard.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 MICRO HABITS FOR MAJOR HAPPINESS shows us that step by step we can reach our goals 21 octobre 2014
Par Cyrus Webb - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Format Kindle
We all say we want to do better in our lives, but what are we doing to make those changes happen?

In her new book MICRO HABITS FOR MAJOR HAPPINESS author Indigo Ocean Dutton talks about how we have to be clear about what we want, make ourselves responsible, do the work and appreciate the successes along the way.

"You must allow yourself to be affected by all of life, and feel it deeply," she writes in the book. "Then you will feel connected and fulfilled, and will be able to see how you truly fit into the world."

Once you identify what you want, then it is about starting the work. Dutton talks about in the book that we should start small, thus the "micro habits" and then watch it grow over time. To keep us accountable she suggests we keep a Personal Happiness Trajectory (PHT). What is it? She explains this way: "Your Personal Happiness Trajectory is your written plan for creating the life
you want. By regularly practicing the Micro Habits you have written in it, you are absolutely guaranteed to create the life you want. It is just a matter of time."

And that is where we have to be careful not to give up when we don't see the changes we want happen overnight. As Dutton talks about in the book the habits we began didn't occur that quickly, but we should celebrate the changes we see and keep striving for what we want. If we remain focused and consistent we are sure to experience the success we want.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Really helpful book 4 août 2014

For people like me who get a little overwhelmed with change, this was a very helpful book. Micro Habits for Major Happiness was a great introduction to making the changes I want in my life without major upheaval. The very slight changes in perception were so helpful. We attach huge emotion to our thoughts but it doesn't always need to be that way.

This book is a ticket to a greater level of happiness. It was even better the second time through.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A wonderful little book with simple guidance for creating success 16 juillet 2014

Wow, this little book appeared at the just the right moment! I had just come out of a long reflection on making major changes in my life. Reading Dutton’s ideas on making micro changes is making the process doable.

Micro Habits brought back to mind another beneficial book I’ve enjoyed reading many times: 'The Power of Your Subconscious Mind'. Dutton’s book is better! It’s succinct, clear and offers simple and practical steps and practices for working with the subconscious to see hindrances and methods to move in the opposite direction. From the very first pages, I was immediately feeling relief and a sense of optimism for building success.

I highly recommend this book.
