Présentation de l'éditeur

"MONETARIUS MORONICUS: noun-
A mental affliction that causes its victims to self-inflict
financial wounds. It is most commonly caused by
inadequate financial education, vulnerability to
marketing messages and an inability to delay
gratification. Symptoms include high debt,
stress, depression, divorce, bankruptcy,
even suicide. Those who suffer from
Monetarius Moronicus are known as
MONEY MORONS.

While it is not contagious, children of
adults suffering from Monetarius Moronicus
are at an increased risk to develop the condition.
Treatment is often hampered because victims tend to
ignore warning signs until the condition reaches critical status."

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Not a book for your book shelf - it belongs on your DESK! 28 octobre 2010

There is absolutely nothing moronic about "Money Morons," - a book packed with financial planning wisdom by well-known financial planner and consumer advocate, Mark DiGiovanni. The wisdom goes down easily -- delivered with plenty of wit, analogies, quotations, and stories -- but will last a lifetime. As a financial advisor myself, always on the look-out for good books that make personal finance fun and understandable, this is one I would recommend to money sophisticates and money morons alike. In fact, this book reminds me of the famous spaghetti sauce: all the ingredients of financial success are "in there!"
5.0 étoiles sur 5 Very informative book...highly recommended for people in their 20's and 30's. 29 décembre 2009

Having been one of those "Money Morons" about 15 years ago when I got out of college, I wish that I had taken the time to read a book like this. I was way too much in debt with credit cards and student loan payments, and I had no concept about how to manage money or what financial responsibility meant. When I think about all the money I wasted on late fees, overdraft payments and collection agency fees, it makes me cringe. Unfortunately, there are too many people out in today's world who are in the same situation as I was a decade and a half ago. If you know someone who is floundering financially, I strongly recommend this book. Mr. DiGiovanni covers all topics of money management- from debt to retirement- and does so in a manner that is informative and educational, without all the high falutin/boring ecomomics professor jargon that instantly numbs the mind.

So here I am, 15 years after ruining my credit by making bad, uneducated decisions. Having realized the importance of planning for the future and the importance of trying to lead a debt free lifestyle, I am always looking for and reading books to further my own education about financial management. "Money Morons" both reinforced concepts I had already learned but also taught me new things I had never read before. I don't think it was an issue of DiGiovanni coming up with something new, but rather explaning things in a manner that didn't cause my brain to automatically fog over.

If you have a child just out of college or know someone in their 30's (or even 40's)who really hasn't started to think too much about their future, I would really recommend this book! Knowledge is power!!
