An Excellent Studio and Drawing Reference 3 janvier 2015

20 Ways to Draw a Mustache and 44 Other Funny Faces and Features by Cara Bean
20 Ways to Draw a Mustache is a great source book for anyone who needs a reference book for drawing characters, illustrations, cartoons, doodles, and card making. I have my own collection of this series of book because of their great content. Each book is its own treasure trove of ideas. This book is not limited to just drawings of mustaches but also shows how to draw eyes, facial expressions, facial hair, hair and more.

Here is a peek at the 20 Ways to Draw a Mustache Table of Contents:
Introduction, Mustaches, Lips, Eyes, Monsters, Ears, Noses, Eyeglasses, Bean Characters, Beards, Braids, Curly Hairstyles, Straight Hairstyles, Mohawks, Star Characters, Ponytails, Hats, Helmets, Block Characters, Feet, Mask, Mullets, Eyebrows, Teardrop faces, Collars, Leaf Characters, Hands, Skulls, Smiles, Frowns, Bottoms, Cupcake characters, Legs, Arms, Doodle Faces, People Taking, Walkers Walking, Sittings Sitting, Hairlines, Different Ages, Circle Characters, Emotions, Monkey Faces, Cat Faces, Dog Faces, and Heart Characters

The selection is vast and the drawings are easy enough for the reader to copy or just be inspired to create their own version. I also recommend other books in this series such as: 20 Ways to Draw a Tree and 44 Other Nifty Things from Nature: A Sketchbook for Artists, Designers, and Doodlers

Watch out for that Cara Bean 20 février 2015
Par allie moloney - Publié sur Amazon.com

Let me start out by saying I consider myself a crappy drawer at best, who usually ends up frustrated. It's a mixture of perfectionism and lack of knowledge. "20 Ways to Draw a Mustache" was mostly fun and educational for me, though. It brought me right back to being a 14 year old in Cara Bean's art foundations class who felt encouraged and even excited about art for the first time. Cara's whimsy as a human, artist, and educator come across strongly in the sketchbook; she'll teach you the basics and remind you to have fun with them. Whether you're a master doodler who needs to be challenged to think outside the box or someone easily frustrated who needs a reminder to get goofy, this book will be great a tool for you. Working in this book is like having Cara glancing over my shoulder and commending my drive to be like Norman Rockwell while reminding me not to take my work too seriously. Her book ranges from the funny, the fundamentals, all the way to faces made out of random objects.

As useful as it is fun. 17 octobre 2014

This is the kind of book I wish I'd had when I started making comics, an unpretentious master class in reducing complex objects to a few expressive lines.

Cara Bean has been one of my favorite cartoonists since I first discovered her work a few years ago, and I don't think they could have chosen a better artist for this installment in the 20 Ways series. Her drawings are as warm and funny as they are economical, and she can coax a range of meaning from the simplest or strangest of shapes.

Artists of any skill level can learn a lot from this book; I've had it for less than a week and it's already joined the ranks of my most consulted references.

A great gift for a new artist 7 novembre 2014

20 Ways to Draw a Mustache is a an excellent beginner's guide to drawing. The author covers the face, various types of hairstyles, the body, emotions, a wide array of characters, and much much more. There is space in the pages to add your own drawings to the book's sections, and the variety of examples will encourage new artists to push their own limits and creativity.

And then there's something more subtle in the pages of this drawing book. It's like every page has its own story to tell. I highly recommend it.

I mustache you a question: Is a Cara Bean sequel coming? 4 novembre 2014

Cara Bean is an exceptionally talented cartoonist and this book is so much fun cover to cover. My 5 year old son loved looking at all the pictures of monsters, hats, curly hairstyles and yes, mustaches as well. We loved looking at the pictures, talking about the differences and then practicing drawing them (he wanted to do it with his finger first). Draw 20 Bottoms is an endless source of giggles...for both my 5 year old and for me. Highly recommended for the aspiring artist of any age for reference or inspiration.
