This book is a weapon of mass awakening 2 septembre 2012
Par Michael Ivey - Publié sur
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
Most people are blissfully unaware of how thoroughly their ideas about our world are intentionally manipulated by the shapers of societal norms and values.

This book is a "weapon of mass awakening."

After having read 2 chapters of this book (chaps 10 & 11), I had to write Mr. Engdahl immediately to thank him profusely for having written it. It isn't every day that you read something that causes pervasive societal beliefs, which are simply not true but are nonetheless widely accepted as being true, to be held up to the light of pure logic and little-known history (read: intentionally suppressed history), definitively showing that those beliefs are false.

Works such as this cause the proverbial scales to fall from one's eyes.

So how rare is it that one comes across a book that causes the scales to fall from your eyes with regard to TWO or even THREE such widely-held false societal narratives?

This is such a book. Indeed I very rarely write book reviews - this is actually the first one I've done for Amazon and the only other one I've done in the last 5-6 years was for another "awakener" of a book, Nancy Turner Banks' brilliant AIDS, Opium, Diamonds and Empire.

In Myths, Lies and Oil Wars, F. William Engdahl, in a relatively short (225 pages) span, using little-known, thoroughly referenced true history, masterfully lifts the curtain on the myths of (1) the origin of hydrocarbons, (2) "Peak Oil" (the myth of scarcity) and (3) the now pervasive false construct that humanity itself is a "cancer upon the earth" - this last false construct being the over-arching lie for which Man-Made Global Warming (now "Climate Change") was devised by Rockefeller think-tanks as an environmental scare tactic to support the BIG LIE.

As a former staunch believer in the "Peak Oil" construct, I have read a majority of the PO literature by Heinberg, Simmons, Campbell, Astyk, Martenson, Kunstler, et. al., and was thoroughly convinced of its validity until 3-4 years ago when I started to expand my horizons.

Engdahl concentrates his true history here on the "world of oil" and the mechanisms of social control and economic manipulation relevant to that world. But if one is already somewhat versed in "deep politics," the social and economic control mechanisms he exposes are applicable to other areas as well. The principal tool in the tool-box of the social manipulators is almost always fear.

But whatever the background, one cannot objectively read this book without being vastly better-informed on topics extremely important to our current situation and, indeed, the survival of our very being as free humans.

Engdahl is Concise, Relevant, & Thought-provoking 30 octobre 2012
Par J. Montz - Publié sur
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
"Myths, Lies, and Oil Wars" by William F. Engdahl is a must read for anyone struggling to make sense of U.S. foreign policy. Why are U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan? Why did NATO take out Gaddafi? Why are we going after Iran and Syria? Is there a grand strategy? Was the "Arab Spring" uprisings really grassroots revolutions or just a second round of color revolutions?

"Control the food and you control the people. Control the oil and you control the nations" is a statement that has been attributed to Henry Kissinger. The premise of the book is summed up by the latter part of Kissinger's statement, the control of oil or more generally the control of energy.

Engdahl maintains that the geopolitical events we have been witnessing is part of the Pentagon's "Full Spectrum Dominance" plan. A cornerstone of the plan is the control of oil at the source. Much of the world's proven oilfields are in the Middle East. For the next two decades the Mideast oilfields is expected to provide Asia with most of its oil.

Engdahl begins laying out the history of conflicts over oil and provides insightful revelations into conflicts that benefited the Oil majors by reducing the world supply of oil. Case in point the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980's. The oil exports from these two nations was drastically reduced during wartime leading to higher prices.

Another example Engdahl lists is the fact that David Rockefeller lobbied the Carter Administration to allow the Shah of Iran into the U.S. for medical treatment knowing that it would cause a crisis with the Ayatollah Khomeini's Iranian government and how Rockefeller's Bank was able to benefit after the U.S. froze the assets of Iran.

Other topics covered include:

The "Peak Oil Fraud" and the pseudo-science of its creator King Hubbert.

The fact that in Russia the Abiotic theory of oil formation is accepted as the leading theory for the last fifty years resulting in Russian Geoligist finding oil in places that western dogma says it shouldn't be.

The rapid rise of China is a source of much concern in Washington. The economic rise of China must be contained and in no way can Russia and China be allowed to join forces. Many tacticians have emphasized the importance of not allowing the rise of a unified Eurasian power. A Eurasian power would be in a position to challenge the dominance of the Anglo-American Empire.

According to the info the Engdahl provides China's weakness is its lack of oil. Engdahl illustrates how the Pentagon has been encircling Russia and China and the events we are seeing is Washington's attempt to knock China out of Africa where China was making steady inroads signing economic alliances with African nations that the Anglo-Americans were exploiting.

Engdahl makes the case that the Iraq war was about control of the oil at the source.

The invasion of Afghanistan was about a controlling Caspian sea oil and gas.

Engdahl offers an explanation for NATO alliances with the former Soviet States of Ukraine and Georgia.

What really was behind the Russian invasion of Georgia? The consequences for Russia.

The establishment of joint ventures between U.S. oil companies and former state run oil enterprises in Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.

Why did the U.S. move Afghani Mujahideen into Chechnya and start a proxy war along a vital Russian pipeline?

Engdahl provides the information needed to connect the "dots" of seemingly unrelated conflicts to form a vivid picture of the "New World Order" being assembled in the 21st Century.

I highly recommend this book along with all of Engdahl's other works. Engdahl wrote two other books that are especially pertinent to "Myths, Lies, and Oil Wars"

The first is "A Century of War, Anglo-American Oil Politics and the New World Order" which I consider as a prequel to "Myths, Lies, and Oil Wars"

The second is "Full Spectrum Dominance, Totalitarian Democracy in the New World Order" which describes the encircling of Russia, the color revolutions, and much more.

These three books together will surely enlighten the lay person to the machinations of the U.S. Empire. Another point I should mention is, Engdahl's works are concise and thoughtful hitting on the important points while remaining entertaining and not overwhelming the reader with a thousand plus page tome.

Engdahl Strikes Again! 18 octobre 2012
Par Thinker - Publié sur

I have to say that William Engdahl is hands down one of my favorite writers.

Although he repeats some aspects of what he has written about before, I don't see it a bad thing because often time we forget the details. The small amount of repetition is necessary in order to paint the broader context to understand everything taking place.

I always learn something new from his work. For example, I did not understand just how important oil resources were to Hitler and how essential a factor it was in winning and losing the war. As well, the denial of strategic resources to the enemy. We can see the same formula playing out before us in the current geopolitical nightmare.

He explains the lie of peak oil so well, I cannot understand how some cling to such fallacious ideas. Contrasting with the cool-headed, factual, logical and reasoning approach of Engdahl, peak oil mythology is practically a religion.

I can't wait for whatever the author puts out next, I wish there were more men of courage like him around.

How the Middle East got into the mess it is in. 30 août 2013

Myths, Lies, and Oil Wars is a very enlightening book. He documents all sorts of skulduggery going on behind the scenes right from before the first Great War, up until the Arab Spring in the Middle East. He shows how and why things happened, how the US government and oil companies in collusion with the banks, first supported various dictators, and then got rid of them as it suited their needs. You might be tempted to think that his book is a fanciful work of fiction, except that he carefully documents everything. Yesterday, the news was full of Obama was planning to intervene in Syria, and surprise, surprise, today the news is about how if Obama goes and does something in Syria, there will be a rise in the price of oil. It would not be a surprise to anybody who has read this book.

W. Engdahl must be read! He explains what is ruining the future prospects for mankind very well. 17 mars 2013

As far as I can see after this the 4th Engdahl book I've read, there is no organization/corporation in the US that is doing anything for the betterment of the whole society. Believe what you wish, but acquire information for yourself because nobody is going to give it to you, you have to go get it. (Caution: ebooks are being edited) Oil is a perfect example; read A Century of War, then read Myths, Lies . . . . you will see and explanation of the horrendous costs taxpayers have endured to provide companies with the ability to control and hold sway over oil for their own benefit and not for the good of the order. The Oil War battlefields, the cemeteries, the destruction left behind for their corporate greed. Read how Stalin turned the tide on the western powers, based on Germany loss of 2 world wars(and for the same reason). The lies "they" can get away with because of a dumbed down population. Read how the Russians rethought the oil process. Does it make sense that these huge pools of oil are of dead dried up dinosaurs? How many would be needed. Mar 16th 2013 newspaper article - "Obama: US must shift vehicles off oil" don't suppose he should read Engdahl's Myths, and Lies but Obama is not in control!
