Présentation de l'éditeur

“Blood!” he exclaimed. His eyes jumped back to my forehead and his hand hovered above it once more. “Blood!” His middle finger dipped forward and pressed against my injured brow like a butterfly tongue searching for nectar. Instinctively, I jerked my head back and saw the finger rise again, a drop of red filling the grooves of its tip. The Count watched his finger curl towards his thumb. The two digits pressed together, circling slowly, smearing scarlet spirals across each other until both were dry...

It is October 1888. In his lodgings in Turin the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche pours out his thoughts in long, feverish days of writing. Committed to ‘revaluing all values’, book after iconoclastic book tumble from his pen. It is a torrent of ink that continues to pour even though – perhaps because – Nietzsche is almost completely neglected, his books unread and often unpublished.

Nietzsche Against Dracula takes the small historical liberty of asking what if…

What if Nietzsche, sick, poverty-stricken and dejected, found he had a hitherto unknown admirer – one who seemed to truly appreciate his challenging work?

What if this would-be patron presented Nietzsche with an invitation to holiday in luxury at his estate in the Austro-Hungarian province of Transylvania?

What if Nietzsche found himself dragged into a world of physical danger and desperate action unfamiliar since his time as a medical orderly during the Franco-Prussian War?

What if he was plunged into emotional turmoil by two beautiful women
– one exemplifying culture and intellect; another sensuality and animal passions?

What if Nietzsche found that his host – let us call him by his nickname, Dracula – had misunderstood his philosophy in ways he couldn’t have imagined?

What if he realised that the forceful opinions he had deliberated over with such care, and expressed with lovingly crafted eloquence, threatened to unleash a vortex of destruction that could devastate the next century?

What would Nietzsche do?

Continue the journey to find out in Part Three of Nietzsche Against Dracula.

The 3rd book in a series of a genre I don't read , I have found myself utterly enjoying this story and can't seem to stop reading. Not a fan of vampire stories , I do however, enjoy a good author. And that is what I have found with Steven Prizeman. The story flows and the tale makes you feel as you are with Nietzsche as he travels to Transylvania to meet with Vlad as a benefactor. Down on his luck , Nietzsche finds himself in need of one badly. He was quite misunderstood at the time and realized he would not become successful until after his death. So the story not only is about Vlad Dracula but also Nietzsche. As a huge history buff I cannot believe how much I am enjoying this little side track on this series of books. So far we find the professor traveling to the castle and upon finding out the local people detest the Count, he has been forced to walk part of the way to the castle. He has met the other visitors of the castle as well as the count. He notices some strange things going on but given his nature, he gives it all little thought as he is so narcissistic he is really only concerned with his own thoughts. The author has captures the essence of how one would think of Nietzsche and made this a very enjoyable read. I do wish it was all one book instead of released chapters. But to his credit, I'm going for for book 4.

When I thought this was a trilogy, I was willing to forgive the slow pace. Now that I have finished the third and see that there are several more, I'm unwilling to commit any further. Forward progress is just too slow--at this rate it could be another ten stories before Nietzsche finally discovers the truth about his host. If he ever does, that is.
