Présentation de l'éditeur

<div>

A writer's notebook is an essential springboard for the pieces that will later be crafted in writers' workshop. It is here that students brainstorm topics, play with leads and endings, tweak a new revision strategy, or test out a genre for the first time.

In Notebook Know-How, Aimee Buckner provides the tools teachers need to make writers' notebooks an integral part of their writing programs. She also addresses many of the questions teachers ask when they start using notebooks with their students, including:

  • How do I launch the notebook?
  • What mini-lessons can be used throughout the year to help students become more skilled in keeping notebooks?
  • How do I help students who are stuck in writing ruts with notebooks?
  • How do I help students use their learning from notebooks for other writing?
  • How do I organize notebooks so that the design is flexible, yet still allows students to access information easily?
  • How can writers' notebooks help students become better readers?
  • How do I assess notebooks?

This compact guide is packed with lessons, tips, and samples of student writing to help teachers make the most of writers' notebooks, without sacrificing time needed for the rest of the literacy curriculum. In fact, Notebook Know-How shows how smart and focused use of writers' notebooks enhances and deepens literacy learning in both reading and writing for students in grades 3–8.

Je l'applique dès la rentrée avec des cycles 3. J'ai très envie de constater les progrès des élèves et surtout leur envie d'écrire.

Format:Broché
Notebook Know-How: Strategies for the Writer's Notebook is a useful resource for teachers new to notebooks or seasoned veterans. The author, Aimee Buckner, really takes the reader on a journey of the writer's notebook with easy-to-use strategies that are as sound as can be. Always bringing us back to trusting the writing will come and it won't always be good. Really it won't. The part on assessment is inspiring. I really found myself thinking about my own teaching, how I use notebooks, and how I might do it all better. Her writing is magic in how it creates a map of flexibility and specificity without ever preaching. Ralph Fletcher got it right: "That's the best kind of teacher renewal I can imagine." I concur.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 If you have writing workshop in your classroom---read this book!!! 22 février 2006

This is a wonderful resource that doesn't read like a reference book. The ideas for keeping the notebook going are easy to implement and helps to show you how to use the notebook as a tool in the writing process. It is obvious that Ralph Fletcher is a mentor to Aimee because her book is a wealth of information which is written in the laid back way of Ralph. I enjoyed reading this book and have recommended to many other teachers.

I heard about this book in a workshop, and decided to check it out for myself. Basically, I did find some good ideas on how to shake up my student's writing folder experience. However, most of the book was something I already knew and did.

I'd suggest this book for new ELA teachers, or ones who are rusty. However, it is always a good idea to keep looking for new ideas no matter how "old and dusty" a teacher you are.

This is not one of those books that will collect dust on a shelf. It will be read and reread many times! It is a great resource for any teacher of writing! Thank you Aimee Buckler! This book contains a wealth of organized and practical strategies that will add to any writing program. Buckler gives teachers easy to model tools to pass on to their students. She gives many examples from literature that can be used as springboards for specific areas. I will never look at notebooks the same! What an inspirational addition to my teaching library!
