As others have said this book is very repetitive. They all talk about the same exact events that by the time I got to Louis chapter, which was last, I was just skimming at that point.
The absolute best part of the book in my opinion was Zayn's chapter! I'll admit, Zayn owns a bigger chunk of my heart than the rest of them do so I might just be biased but I loved his section. I loved how he mentioned the fact that he's mixed race and what it was like for him growing up that way in school. He got into more of the real downsides of being in the band, like being away from home, his girlfriend and missing his family. Also his way of writing is so different than the other guys, even though I know they had help with the writing process, his just sounded so personal. Absolutely loved it! I would love to read a book solely written by him.
Also another highlight was the first part of Louis chapter. I always think of him as the really easy going, funny one so my heart was broken when he talked about how he felt to never get solos. It was so sad. He has never really mentioned how that affected him before so to finally hear how his confidence was lowered because of it makes me respect him so much more now. He's worked so hard and grown so much, I'm proud of him.
This personal stuff is what I wanted from this book and I know they want to keep their private life but I feel that if your going to write a book you have to talk about the personal stuff. Also half of the pictures were taking right off Instagram so they weren't really new.
Overall it was an ok book the best part was Zayn and Louis. I honestly don't really remember what Liam, Niall and Harry's chapters were even about because they all kind of blended together. I love One Direction and I think their careers have been amazing so far and they have accomplished a lot. Hopefully they continue to have success and I'll continue to buy everything they put in my face!
This story is about One Direction and how they became a band. It is told from all the boys’ perspectives. It tells you the back stories of all the boys and what it was like when they first became a band. This book was written by the boys so you see what their journey was like through their eyes.
It starts off with Liam and he tells about having already performed on stage in the past. And he also tells about his first experience with The X Factor. Then it goes to Niall and he tells about how his childhood was cut short because One Direction took off so quickly. Then Harry tells about going from working in a bakery to being a part of one of the biggest boy bands in the world. Then Zayn tells about how he got older kids started making fun of him for being different. He realized once he got to One Direction that being different was ok and he actually started to enjoy it. Then Louis tells about going to school and being kind of a trouble maker but he did that just because his wasn’t as passionate about school as he was music.
The main characters are Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne. Niall is a loud, funny, and always hungry person. He is Irish and is always the one to break the silence by laughing. Harry is a warm hearted, fun, and loving guy. He couldn’t tell a decent joke to save his life though. Zayn is the shy and quiet one. But, just because he’s quiet doesn’t mean he can’t be sarcastic. Louis is always coming up with new pranks to annoy the boys. Louis is the oldest but he is definitely the most immature. To him age is just a number and maturity is a choice. Liam probably the most mature because he’s preformed on a stage before. If the boys ever mess something up, Liam will always be there to help fix it.
I really liked this book. I really like it because it was about One Direction. You can tell the boys are telling you how they really feel. If you like One Direction then I would recommend this book to you.
As far as band autobiographies go , this one is well done.
