Présentation de l'éditeur

For most couples, a quiet dinner for two at Auberge de la Reine Blanche on the Ile Saint Louis would be just the thing to smooth out the complications in a romance. But for gorgeous Mossad operative Delilah and trying-to-retire contract killer John Rain, nothing is ever easy, and when Rain sees a crew of hard-looking men setting up outside the restaurant, he realizes someone has been bringing her work home with her. Is it a hit -- or something even worse? When it comes to killing, business and pleasure is the most dangerous mix of all.

Includes an essay called Personal Safety Tips from Assassin John Rain, which contains information that will be at least as valuable to civilians as it has been to Rain.

This story is approximately 8500 words -- the equivalent of about 35 paper pages. It is a short story, not a novel.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Paris Is a Bitch much more than a short story. 25 avril 2011

Where "Requiem For An Assassin" left readers wondering; and the promise of things to come in "The Detachment" left readers hoping. "Paris Is A Bitch" is the necessary bridge. It stands alone as a great, quick read. It will also satiate 'Rain' fans until the release of "The Detachment". Anyone not following Eisler's Japanese/American hero, this is a good place to get a taste of excellent neo-thriller writing.

I enjoyed this story. The relationship between Rain and Delilah has interested me since the beginning. Jon Rain is a character who is not easily defined. I like reading about him because his journey is fascinating and hopeful. Even though Barry writes thrillers, I would like to see some happiness for Rain.

I hope Barry does a short story about Dox. HE IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER!! Dox should have a novel written only about him!

I digress, thanks for the giving your fans something to read while we wait for The Detachment.

Not James but his protege. A martial arts expert and retired assassin who is dating a Mossad agent who refuses to quit her job. Kind of like spouses who smoke and one quits. Seeing the other still smoking induces cravings. For as short as this tale is there was some great character development and a complete start to finish story. A nice short thrill ride.

Without doubt this is a better story than The Lost Coast, and confirmed Eisler fans will want to read it. Actually, even if you're new to Eisler this wouldn't be a bad place to start as it has major characters, themes, and plot elements that characterize the full-length novels. I think it's likely that if this story doesn't engage you, you wouldn't like the full-length novels either.

My major gripe, and it's a big one, is the price.

First, $2.99 is just too much. Other established authors in the genre and on a par with Mr. Eisler and who have started self-publishing ebooks (e.g. Tim Hallinan and Brett Battles) give us a full-length novel for $2.99 - much better value for the $.

Second, the Amazon description is somewhat misleading. Half or a little more of the download is NOT the story - it's just padding, e.g. preview chapters of Eisler's upcoming novel. So the story turned out to be much shorter than I expected.

Third, Mr. Eisler's strategy seems to be to price his stories at $2.99 when they first come out, then lower the price. I notice that The Lost Coast is $1.99 now, vs. $2.99 when I made the mistake of buying it a few weeks ago. If I'm right about this, you'll get the story for less before long, and there's certainly no reason to be in a hurry to read it.

I thought The Lost Coast should have been $.49. On that scale Paris Is a Bitch should be about $.69

This was my first from this author and as a result I have purchased more of his books. Rain is a strong character who has sensitivity as well as lethal skills. Great writing, characters and realistic dialog.
