I'm an experienced bread maker, and can make any bread from croissants to fry bread to classic white bread. That means that while I don't need the directions for basics such as proofing, kneading, etc., I can definitely tell the difference between accurate directions and leaving the novice in a state of confusion.

Basically, this is a good solid cookbook. It's got a lot more variety in the bread recipes than most of the bread oriented cookbooks on Kindle have had, in my experience. For that, I really like the book. There are a couple that are going to get a test in my ovens very soon. For the recipes alone, I'd have to recommend the cookbook.

As for the directions for the novice bread maker, most of them are not indecipherable due to the typos in punctuation and spelling. There are some incomplete sentences, but it didn't "ruin" the book. They just kind of left me scratching my head. Those who find that the typos bother them to the point of ruining the book probably didn't read all of the directions prior to making their decision--most of it isn't that bad. Yes, it would be nice if it had been proofread better, but such is the way of things, I suppose!

The table of contents was there, the recipes seem to be complete, and overall, I still like this book. If you want to bake bread, this is one of the better small bread cookbooks on Kindle that I've read. There is at least a recipe or two for everyone!

Great Recipes and Complete steps to help anyone bake perfect bread: Yep; there is a lot of reading to do before you get to the delicious recipes, This book is all a new baker like me needs, an experienced baker can just skip the introduction. I have baked the enriched rolls. and the basic bread, they turned out perfect the first time, I have also started my sour dough starter. 1 Cant wait to make my first sourdough bread. This book has given me the confidence I needed to get started. Great book I recommend this book to any one interested in baking their own bread. even if you are an experienced baker.

While the content seemed knowledgeable, there were multiple punctuation, fragmented sentence, and spelling errors. These made it difficult to follow the context. Some of the recipes did not have complete quantities. In addition, the author could have defined some of her terms to improve the understanding of her readers. As an example, she used "chafe" and "proof". Both of these terms have many definitions, but what do they mean in the context of bread-making? I believe the book would be much more useful once it is "proofed" in the editorial sense.

I purchased this book for my kindle due simply to the fact that I have recently decided that bread-baking was new favorite hobby (and it is), and I am always hungry for new information and recipes.

The reason I only give it 2 stars? The editing/formatting is obviously unedited, uncorrected, and just downright atrocious. It says that two adults wrote it, but judging by the way in which it is written, it just as easily could have been two second-graders (or even two advanced kindergartners). Yes, it's THAT bad.

Having said that, there is still "some" useful information on bread-baking to be had from this book, but there was just no way I could (or would) rate it any higher due to the aforementioned lack of any level of editing or even proof-reading.

Good news as of 9/20/12 there is an active table of contents.Its much easier to navigate.There are good recipes as well as great tips.
